“Relieved duty, as long as I see fit” I say. You looked ready to argue and I raised my eyebrow, testing you. You ran a hand through your silver hair and sighed.
“Yes ma'am.” She said, avoiding eye contact. On seeing her deflated demeanor, my hard ‘boss act’ shrunk.
“Emily, honey. I have to do this.” I say, walking around her desk and taking a hold of her hands. “Not only did you lie to me as your supervisor, but also as your girlfriend. I was worried sick when you didn't come home that night, and you told me that you stayed at the office. Only for me to find out that you were arrested?!” I exclaim, shaking your hands for emphasis.
She bit her lip and nodded “I'm sorry. Really I am.”
I lean forward and we touch foreheads. “I know you are baby, I know. But I can't just let this go without consequences, understand?” I feel her nod her head. “Alright Em. I need you to head home now. I should be there around 9, if nothing comes up." I separate us but plant a soft kiss on her lips. Before I leave I meet her eyes “I love you Emily, no matter what”
