Jace immediately noticed Baela's absence at dinner. He always noticed her presence or lack thereof.
When Baela wasn't at his side, Jace felt he was missing a part of himself. It was like missing a limb or an eye—a loss of something that left you utterly broken.
Baela left the castle walls to take out her frustrations and Jace followed her, as always. He would follow her anywhere if he could, even to the ends of the world.
She spoke of her father and he spoke of his own. Baela claimed that she hated him but Jace knew better. She could never hate Daemon, not really.
Not even when he was at his worst. Baela loved him deeply. They both did. It was why they took after him in various ways and carried themselves as he did.
Head held high and eyes burning with a fiery anger they both held deep within them. He spoke of how he missed Luke and she grabbed his shoulder, comfortingly.
They were twin flames and their burning rage would not be easily extinguished.
