Chapter Text
God it was so fucking hot. He’s practically in the boiler room of hell at this point. Like, really? 92 ° at seven in the morning? That’s bad, especially for him. He’s never done too well with the heat. He’s left wishing he brought his water bottle out with him, but it’s too late for that now. He’ll just sweat. He deserves it, for putting off his “daily” walks for so long. When did he stop doing that? Why did he stop? He couldn’t tell you. He probably just got tired of having to tell someone every time, He doesn’t know.
Who are you supposed to be thinking about? Well, he isn’t that much. Just an average, everyday, white brunette, with his hair middle-parted and just brushing past his shoulders. He’s pretty average all around, honestly. He makes up for it by over-dressing and over-accessorizing. And in confidence, so much of that. And he also, in his own words, does not give a shit about what others could think of how he dresses. It seems to help a lot.
Oh, he’s almost half-way through his walk. He looks to the side, staring at the gas station that his fat-ass usually gets his favorite snack from, the biggest chocolate chip muffin he’s ever seen before and a different soda each time he comes by. The distraction causes him to trip over his own feet, smacking his face on the asphalt of the street. He pushes himself up, but stays on the ground. His whole head hurts. He brings a hand up to his face - he’s not sure where exactly - and it comes away vaguely bloody. Right as he’s processing what’s just happened, a car that’s going a little too fast comes onto the street he’s in the middle of. He looks over at it, not knowing if he can get out of the way fast enough, trying to move his way off the road before it can-
He’s hit. His brains are on the asphalt where I’m pretty sure they are not supposed to be, and the car slows to a stop. The driver will never recover from this. And neither will Oliver, for that matter.

It’s… dark? That’s weird. I was just on a walk at 7 in the morning, it shouldn’t be this dark. Actually, it shouldn’t be this dark at all, the light pollution here is horrid!
Ok- Hush, I get it. You don’t need to keep on rambling, you know that, right?
Jesus?! …Ok, no, never-mind. Not Jesus. Sorry.
Not Jesus, no, someone else. I’m not telling you, though.
I’m not allowed to know who I’m talking to?? Ok then… Can I at least know what’s going on at least?
I can tell you that, yes. See, you died a few days ago. Run over after tripping yourself. Honestly, it was sad. Over a muffin, really?
They’re good muffins!! You can’t seriously blame me for that. I’ve said before I would die for one, this is not out of character for me!
It’s not, and that’s sad as fuck. But you’re here because you weren’t more good than you were bad, and you weren’t more bad than you were good. And I’m bored, so I needed something to do for entertainment. I’ll be reincarnating you into somewhere I think you’ll be able to cause the most entertainment. Which should be easy for you no matter where I put you, right? I mean, you pride yourself on being able to turn yourself into a spectacle, after all.
Well- …I mean, is it too late to take that back? Because I don’t like the way you said that-
Oh, it’s way too late to take that back. You’re already dead! Now, let’s see…
Ok well shit…. What are you looking at? I feel like I should be able to know.
I’m looking at where I could send you. I don’t want to make you a new vessel, that’s too time-consuming…. Oh! Well, thank you very much for the pre-made one! Full backstory, too… Oh, this is perfect!
I don’t like the tone you’re saying that in. Where am I going?
Hm… How do you feel about the place called… The Inpherno?
…Oh fucking hell, you don’t mean I’m going as-
Yes, I mean exactly that. It’s much easier than making you a new vessel and all of that. Of course, there have to be a few tweaks here and there, but… It should work just fine!
OK- Ok I can work with that, I think… I just have a request or two. Maybe.
Oh, fine, what is it? And don’t make it too much. I won’t even think about it if it’s too outlandish.
Make sure I know all I need to know so I can logically fit into the lore I’ve given him- I mean, I don’t actually know how to do any of it, it would be weird if he has this whole backstory and suddenly can’t do any of it.
Oh, fine. I suppose you’re right. It wouldn’t make too much sense. Mmm… Ok, I’ll do it. And you better make this entertaining, I have the power to undo all of this whenever I want. I’ll make sure you know how to contact us, too. For the sake of your sanity, I’ll tell you that the timeline is a day or two since the escape. Now get ready, this might be strange.
And he’s sent flying off before he can even think about saying another word.

He’s left lying in his(?) bed, trying his hardest to process what’s just happened. He’s not… him anymore. He knows how to do this, but it’s different now. He’s dead. Like, actually dead, and now he has to act as someone he’s created in a completely different context than he should be… It’s weird. He has a very limited window of time to get used to everything before Blackrock comes looking for his ass. That’s only assuming they aren’t already. This is a lot more stressful than he initially assumed it would be.
Breathing is a slight struggle, and his mouth tastes like blood. He should’ve expected this part, he’s the one that gave it to him. He still wasn’t prepared, though. He has to stay there for a bit, getting used to the feeling of breathing and trying to accept that his mouth will forever taste like iron. Man, if he knew that he would have to live like this, maybe he would’ve given him a gas mask…
He sits up, spotting his modified camping lantern gear. Thank… well, not God, but whoever that was, that he actually has it. Man, if only they had given him a name, this would be so much easier. Oh well, he can work with what he’s been given. He grabs the lantern, spinning it around in his hands. He turns it on and off a few times, and stares at the neon green radiating from inside of it. He twists it open, reaching inside it and pulling out a neon green, atom shaped crystal. He resists the urge to crush it in his hands, instead comparing the green to the color of the chemicals laced within his breath. It’s the exact same as the smoke his crystals produce. As it should be. It is the same poison, after all. He gently places the crystal back inside the lantern, closing it back up and placing it back on the bedside table. He stands up, walking across the room to look at himself in the mirror.
He has the hat, the jacket, the scar, the eye, and the horns. He takes off the hat, running his nails - no, claws now - along the ridges and bumps left by the horns being broken off. It doesn’t really hurt like he expected it to, they just probably won’t grow back. It’s strange to him, seeing himself so different from how he actually is. He can’t say he minds it, though. In fact, he feels pretty good like this. He inspects his teeth, claws, and horns. It’s probably gonna be more than a little strange getting used to this, but he’ll be able to manage. He has to, anyways, knowing that he’ll be like this until he dies again. Who knows when that could be? He doesn’t. He doesn’t want to, either.
He sighs, thinking about his next course of action. He’s probably in a clear time period at the moment, with the Blackrock situation… It hasn’t been that long since he’s technically ran from Blackrock, they shouldn’t be after him just yet. He could go get a chocolate chip muffin…. Sure, it’s not the one he died over, but a muffin is a muffin. Maybe a cheesecake instead, though… that would be a nice treat. He could always get both, instead of choosing just one. That idea seems pretty appealing, actually. He decides on that last idea. Might as well treat himself while he can, after all.
After a while of looking around his apartment and getting used to everything, he attaches his lantern to one of his belt loops, finding wherever he believes he would keep bux stashed - because really, who isekais you without making sure you have money? Not this guy, apparently - and heads out of the building to try and make his way to a specific cafe he has in mind. Because what kind of a spectacle would he cause if he didn’t end up acquainting himself with at least a few more of the “main characters” of this universe? If he’s going to cause anything, he has to be well known for more reasons than just being one of Subspace's most recent direct coworkers. That would just cause a minor shock and have him labeled as a faction traitor, which is happening anyways no matter what he does, once they find out he left. He promised to make this interesting, and that’s what he’ll do. He’s not one to back out on a promise like this.
