Chapter Text
Everyone knew that the God of life and the God of death could not coexist. Yet, it seemed the two Gods were willing to try and defy that.
Atsushi, the God of life, was sitting in his kingdom, on a bench. The birds chirping, the frogs croaking, and sound of the trees moving in the breeze. It made Atsushi be truly at peace. He couldn’t think about any other place he’d want to be rather than here.
Or, well..
Akutagawa, the God of death, was on the on the other side of the kingdom, having just snuck in. He winced at the way the grass and flowers wilted under him. He could heard all animals around him leave as soon as they heard him. Despite being the God of death, he was not evil. Sure, he was a bit cold, but he wasn’t mean. Most of the time at least.
His kingdom ends where Atsushi’s starts, and it’s not uncommon for the two to socialize with each other by the borders, Atsushi on his side, Akutagawa on his.
Though, despite their conversations, he always felt like there was something missing.
He wanted to.. touch Atsushi. He wanted to feel him. Not directly in a sexual manner, no, but just.. in general.
Akutagawa can’t even remember the last time he had physical contact with anyone, though, even if he did, he couldn’t really care unless it would be Atsushi.
There was something about the other God that just made him.. actually feel.
Feeling is something the God of death for many years thought was impossible for him, yet Atsushi had proved otherwise.
Therefore, he decided that, today, he would try to get closer to Atsushi. Physically.
Atsushi watched as some bunnies ran around in the grass around the bench, playing with each other as some cats watched while grooming one another. He smiled to himself, yet it soon disappeared as he saw the bunnies run away, and the birds fly away soon after. He heard the frogs stop croaking, and all the animals go quiet and run away.
He blinked, stunned for a few seconds, not understanding what had scared them, until he saw some grass and flowers withering into a path.
Atsushi stared at the withering plants, before looking up at the cause for their lifelessness; Akutagawa.
“A-Akutagawa-“ He uttered hesitantly, standing up from the bench.
The death God looked away, trying to hide his shame for withering the plants.
“I just.. wanted to say hi?” It was most likely suppose to be a statement, though in reality it sounded more like a question.
Atsushi stared, stunned, at the other God.
“Uh—“
“I- I know I shouldn’t have come here..” Akutagawa spoke before Atsushi has a chance to say anything else. “I just.. you..” He stammers, trying to find his words. “You- You make me feel things.” He then stated bluntly, looking up at Atsushi with a small frown.
The younger God didn’t say anything for a few seconds, completely taken aback by Akutagawa’s words.
“I.. what?” He wasn’t sure he heard the other correctly. There’s just no way he just said that, right?
“You make me feel things, Atsushi.” Akutagawa said again, before looking away, quickly regretting his words. “I- I’m sorry.. just.. just forget it-“ He turned around, yet he’s stopped by Atsushi grabbing his wrist.
“Wait- please?” He frowned up at the other God. “Don’t leave, it’s fine.” Atsushi reassured.
“A-are you sure? Your flowers.. they’re withered cause of me, I don’t want to destroy anything else-“
“I can bring them back, it’s okay, just please say..” If Akutagawa wouldn’t have known any better, he’d have thought Atsushi was begging.
“.. o-okay then..” He hesitantly agreed.
“Please,” Atsushi moved out of the way, “come inside.” He invited Akutagawa into his castle.
