Work Header

What did you think would happen when you give a 17 year old that much power?

Summary:

When humans start to summon Danny for one reason or another, Danny and co decides to have fun with it. Chaos ensues. Also, apparently being King of the Infinite Realms includes access to the multi-verse, who knew? Not Danny.

Notes:

Please keep in mind that I have never watched Danny Phantom and pretty much all of my information on this has come from fics I've read :)
This is my first fic so mistakes are most likely every where. Critique is welcome and appreciated :3

Chapter Text

No one had told Danny Fenton that he would become the Ghost King if he defeated Pariah Dark, Heck he wasn’t informed about his new position until two months after he had already beaten the jerk. Danny ended up finding out when he was summoned for the first time, luckily it was just some kids being dumb at a sleepover and not a crazy fruit loop trying to summon Pariah Dark the previous Ghost King, to conquer the world, Danny had obviously been very confused and skeptical. So Danny, after consulting Sam and Tuck, logically went to Clockwork for answers who seemed mildly surprised that Danny wasn't aware of the fact that if you defeated the King of the Infinite Realms then you would become the King of the Infinite Realms (“No, Clockwork, I didn’t know! No one had deemed it ‘necessary’ information for me to know!”) and had proceeded to mention offhandedly that Danny had a bit more time before he stepped into the role, which was good, considering Danny wasn’t aware it was a role to step into. Danny initially thought that it would be fun. (why wouldn’t being King of the Infinite Realms be fun?) Danny had corrected his views on the matter about half a year in. With being 17 he hadn’t yet graduated high school, and though the ghost attacks hadn’t stopped they had slowed down considerably. Danny had been thrilled at first, (that might be a pattern) and then Danny had accepted kingship, and thus the duties that came with it. In Danny’s opinion he was ill prepared and uneducated in dealing with how much paperwork and boredom came with being a king. Ancients, he was 17 and in charge of ruling and protecting the Infinite Realms. This is getting off topic. Danny still believes he was entitled to being informed that he would become a freaking king, before killing Pariah. Not that he wouldn’t have proceeded with fighting Pariah Dark, but a heads up would have been nice. It wasn't like it was all boring, he had his own army! Even though it was mostly superficial. Its main purpose was so that ghosts had a place to work off their excess energy without causing trouble. After all, when ghosts didn't fulfill their urge to protect and fight, (it varies from ghost to ghost, some tend to be more protective than others and vice versa.) they tended to be a problem.

With Jazz still at college and Ellie still traveling, that leaves Tucker and Sam who would be going off to college once they graduated. He had decided that when he graduated he’d move to the ghost zone and embrace being king and responsibility and whatever that might entail. But the point he was trying to make was that even though he didn’t know he was High King of the Infinite Realms, (If you couldn’t tell Danny Phantom was still salty about that fact.) it still had its perks. One of said perks was scaring whichever cult or fruit loop had decided summoning him was a good idea. Now he could ignore the tugging on his core when being summoned but with kingly paperwork being as boring as it is he took pretty much any excuse he could to ignore it, this included summonings. Even though the majority of his summonings were teenagers at slumber parties, it inevitably ended up with Danny meeting some wacky people. He, Sam, and Tuck had started to log the more notable encounters down in what they dubbed ‘The Fruit Loop Leaderboard’. So all in all Danny was content being the Ghost King.

This leads to the present, school had let out a good ten minutes earlier, Danny, Tucker and Sam were heading to Nasty Burger when Danny’s senses filled with the sweet taste, smell and texture of chocolate cake, the pulling at his core and soft whispers familiar.
“Danny?”
Danny must have stopped walking distracted by the sensation.

“Danny, what is it?”
And oh, that was Sam. He still hadn’t responded, has he?
“Sorry, I’m being summoned.” Danny says hastily.
“Kay, you go ahead, we’ll get the Fruit Loop Leaderboard ready.” Tucker sounded a bit disappointed that their trip to Nasty Burger was crashed, he’d have to make it up to him later. Danny nodded as he gave into the tugging at his core, accepting the offering of chocolate cake and was quickly whisked away to Ancients knows where.
