Chapter Text
The boy was unassuming. Plain. No physical manifestations of any quirk, and honestly? He just looked dull. Dimmed, viridian eyes said the greenette was dead inside. A simple black surgical mask hid everything else. Underneath the faded tracksuit, fitted stretch fabric obscured any potential show of skin. He held a wooden bat painted black, and on his back sat a backpack. Which was also black, because what else could it be? The only pop of color worn by the kid emerged in the form of glaring red high-tops, which only meant one thing. Quirkless. No wonder the rest of the hero student hopefuls gave him a wide berth as they prepared to take the practical portion of UA’s entrance exam. This is also most likely why no one noticed the boy spur into action, running into the artificial city as soon as the gates opened.
By the time he jumped into the fray of various robots, many other had already manage to rack up points, especially the guy with engines for calves, whose speed quirk had obviously overcome the boy’s four-second head start. The gravity girl was slapping robots left and right, putting her hands together as a good twenty came crashing down from where they ended up floating.
Now, the boy’s mask concealed a grin as his racing mind stuttered to a stop, an idea forming. Less than a minute later, no less than twenty bots were glued to the walls on the inside of a rather large alley, the creation of the sticking agent thanks to a chemical formula based off of some retired pro’s quirk. As the boy led more bots into the alley using an Eraserhead-esque capture weapon, he grabbed a few small spheres out of his bag. They weren’t going to have the type of destruction that would damage any of the structures, but the close range of the robots would guarantee that the electrical output of the boy’s homemade e-bombs would put them out of commission. Possibly taking out the security cameras in the process, but such is life. That put him at an even fifty points.
Suddenly, the ground shook underneath him and a robot taller than any of the buildings waded through the street, causing chaos as most of the contestants ran in the opposite direction. The boy, however, noticed a body trapped under some rubble. The girl with the gravity quirk. And she was right in the path of the zero-pointer. Without thinking, he ran to her and attempted to use his bat as a lever against the block of concrete. She seemed sick, but still pressed a hand against the block and it suddenly became lighter.
He pushed her away just in time before the foot came down where she was just stuck. Though, he hadn’t moved yet. With that, he was crushed.
