Chapter Text
2010
“Why do we have to go to this pointless thing?”
Sitting in the back seat of the car, Edith listened to her sister complain about having to go to her ballet performance. Although Adelaide always made Edith go to her dance performances, she could never see the point of going to support her little sister’s ballet.
“You’re going because you love your sister.” Their father replied from the drivers seat.
Does she though? Edith couldn’t help but think.
Cars sped by. People rushed home from work or drove to pick their kids up from school. Raindrops pattered against the roof as Edith watched two raindrops slide down the window, imagining they were having a race.
Then, the sound of screeching tires and honking horns echoed through little girl’s ears as she felt the seatbelt tighten against her chest and her head crashed back into her car seat.
Everything was silent. Everything was still.
