Chapter Text

Late in the afternoon on a highway road as a light green and light blue coloured van decorated with orange flowers known as the Mystery Machine was driving through to little to no traffic in it's way. At the steering wheel was a thin man in a green shirt in his early 20s and sitting right next to him was a brown furred great dane. They were none other than Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers and his best pal Scooby Doo; owners of the Mystery Machine ever since their mystery solving gang Mystery Inc went their separate ways.

Love the World by Austin Roberts played on the radio as Scooby was in charge of checking out the map. "Like how to the nearest town are we Scoob?" Shaggy asked as Scooby had unfolded up the big map and Shaggy actually to push it away with Scooby looking through it. They were on their way to look for employment in a nearby town to help them off their seats a bit. They hadn't had jobs since they haphazardly decided to leave their gym teaching positions at Grimwood's Finishing School for Girls.

In hindsight; it wasn't really the best decision as not only did they grow attached to their students but the reason why they took the job in the first place was because they needed money. It was expensive eating as much as they liked to and when they were on the road solving mysteries with the gang; it was Daphne who took care of expenses with her credit card but now they had to earn their own money.

"Rell... Right here... Ro, Reft here... Re're lost Rhaggy..." Scooby ended up admitting and Shaggy sighed realising too late that putting Scooby in charge of the map may have been a mistake. Shaggy looked to the road and then saw a truck stop bar.

"No problem Scooby; there is a place where we can ask for directions!" Shaggy said feeling optimistic as he then drove right up to the establishment and then parked it with the other vehicles including some motorbikes. They opened the door as coming out of the bar were some big muscular man in biker's attire.

They gulped and tried to walk around but they blocked the entrance; "Don't mind us... We are looking for directions..." Shaggy said as the leader looked down at Shaggy.

"I direct you to move your stupid hippie piece of trash away from our bikes! It is insulting to think that you thought that you could park it anywhere near our turf!" the leader said as Scooby jumped into Shaggy's arms as they were in full blown coward mode.

A short white haired one armed woman with white skin was at the counter of the bar; "Another one..." she said banging her glass on the counter as the bartender gave her a look as he took the glass.

"This is like your 19th or 21st round; are you sure that you haven't had enough?" the bartender asked as the woman gave him a look and then banged the counter with her fist with a hard slam.

"I will tell you when I've had enough! So just shut up and just fill it up!" snapped the woman as the bartender and some close patrons gave her a look but the bartender nonetheless filled it up.

How did it come to this; Lute the right hand woman of Adam the commander of Heaven's angel army the Excorcists; stuck here in some shit little Earth bar because there was no drink in Heaven that could help her deal with what she was thinking.

The last Extermination; it was meant to show a message to Hell not to try rise up again or dare kill any of them. Bathe the grounds with their ashes; starting with that stupid hotel that Lucifer's brat set up as an example thanks to her questioning how Heaven and the Extermination works. For daring to speak up against Heaven's higher ups or Adam.

But no; the Extermination failed... She was beaten by that traitor Vaggie, she had to lose her arm to set herself free, her leader and close friend Adam was easily beaten by Lucifer and she had to watch him die in her arms after being slain by that short little monstrous demon. Forced to order a retreat with threats by Lucifer.

She had plans to take over Adam's position as well as take care of the princess problem but things got worst when she returned...

That snake demon in the hotel who perished in his stupid contraption... He didn't get killed permanently a second time... He was restored and made his way to Heaven as a new seraphim...

He got redeemed...

A sinner got redeemed and sent to Heaven...

She was still taking this in and reacted badly when Sera the High Seraphim told her that the Exterminations are now cancelled; that Heaven would be putting backing into the hotel project... That she would be allowed to take Adam's place as high commander but that they would no longer be Excorcists... They would have to be on guard and on hold for if demons trying and rise up against them...

This was a mistake and she reacted strongly and loudly at Sera; she got suspended for her troubles and told her to relax.

She didn't know what to do and was now on Earth; trying to drink her feelings away. This was her 4th bar (each one in a different state in the US) and she had left on tabs with hundreds of dollars to them that she had no intention of paying or going back to those forsaken places.

She downed her drink and looked at the glass; she could just imagine the princess' smug little face upon finding out that she was right...

How could it be after all this time; why had it taken this long...

Long she carried on with the conviction that she was eliminating unforgivably damned souls that wasted their chance and would have to pay for their evil nature; that there was no changing their fates...

She killed thousands of souls during her time...

How many of them had the capability of redeeming themselves like the snake guy?

She heard a commotion and barged through the doors and found Shaggy and Scooby there with the leader of a bike gang holding Shaggy up by the collar of his shirt.

"With the example that we are gonna set with you; no one will even think of parking something so revolting in our turf again..." the leader said as Lute couldn't take any more.

She put her hand on the guy's arm and said "let the guy down and let him go; this is a free country and I don't see any sign that said that he can't park here so stop being a petty little shit."

The bikers then paused and looked towards her along with the leader who put Shaggy down as they were in disbelief to which she raised an eyebrow; "You're a stranger around these parts so you don't know... But we are the Horsemen of the Devil and we run this part of the country!" the leader told her threateningly and she scoffed at that with a snicker.

A lot of the demons in Hell would eat these losers alive; the bikers didn't take kindly to that and they jumped at her only to be met with kicks to the faces from her. They groaned in pain but go up and tried to swarm her only to be punched hard in the guts and then kicked in the jaws; the leader Lute punched at him and sent him up in the air and landed at the bikes and groaned in pain.

She then extended a hand to the speechless Shaggy and Scooby; "Like thanks for that... That was amazing... I'm Shaggy... This is Scooby..." Shaggy then greeted her and Lute raised an eyebrow at the names but waved to them.

"Don't mention it; I would suggest that you go to your van and get out of here before any police get here..." as bar patrons ran out to see what had happened.

"How about you; we could give you a lift to where you are headed? To pay you back for what you have done; not many would be willing to stick their necks against bikers like those guys for a couple of yellow belly cowards." Shaggy offered and Lute shook her head.

"No thanks... I am just a drifter anyway... Trying to make sense of my life..." Lute answered and Shaggy then thought of something and whispered to Scooby.

"We are off to the nearest town to try and find us work to do; we are short of money... You could come with us?" Shaggy then asked and Lute thought about it; she was tempted to just say no and be on her way but she honestly had else to do. She was just going about trying to drink her sorrows away at random bars; no other plans nor any idea of how long she would be doing this.

Maybe finding some other work will help her clear her head...

"You know what... Why not? I'm Lute..." Lute then said with a smile as Shaggy and Scooby opened up the doors for her to enter as they entered back through her. Shaggy started riving off as the bartender had ran out and noticed what had happened and was now yelling about all the drinks that she had paid for.

"Row rid you right right rhat?" Scooby ended up asking her and Lute was able to make out what he was saying.

"Well... Let's just say that my old job gave me plenty of practice..." Lute answered but then her eyes widened and looked at Scooby. "Excuse me but... Did your dog just talk?" Lute asked Shaggy incredulously.

Some time had passed as Shaggy continued driving as Lute sat there with him and Scooby the talking dog; she was still taking in this detail and the fact that Shaggy didn't seem to find anything out of the ordinary about the fact. Lute couldn't help but stare at Scooby wondering how exactly did he talk; was he an angel or a demon in hiding but doing a bad job at it considering he was talking.

She could imagine demons being bad at disguising themselves up on Earth; she knew about some of the Hellborn royalty and even Lucifer himself being summoned for ritual sacrifices but nothing can really come from it. Heaven wouldn't stand for it if it did and she shook her head at the foolish idiotic mortals willing to damn themselves under the assumption that they will be rewarded for it.

A sign came up saying that the nearest town was up ahead; "looks like we are almost there finally..." Shaggy to his and Scooby's delight and Lute thought that maybe she can find work there to do now. "Wait... What's this... Zoinks!" Shaggy shouted out afraid looking at something in the in the car window that made Scooby and Lute jump. Something came up and seemed to knocking into the side of the van as it made Shaggy and Scooby fall out of the seats.

Lute quickly grabbed the wheel and saw that there seemed to be a carriage and mounted on a horse what seemed to be a cowboy with a glowing dark green skull head cackling loudly with eery music. "What... The... What is going on..." Lute wondered confused as she started steering but soon found herself at a problem.

She had no experience whatsoever driving a vehicle.

Sure she played some steering car games at arcades they had in Heaven but there were no actual vehicles in Heaven; why would there be when everyone had wings and could just fly to wherever they want?

So Lute struggled to properly steer and control the van as it swerved across the road and banged into the carriage which seemed to take the rider on the horse aback as well. Shaggy and Scooby were groaning and Lute took her hand off to help them out and got Shaggy to hold onto the wheel.

"You take care of driving Shaggy while I take care of this idiot on the road..." Lute then said as Shaggy and Scooby shared a look.

"Take care? What do you mean Lute... LUTE!" Shaggy screamed as Lute then opened up the door and launched herself at the rider and got him off the horse which seemed to crash at the welcome sign. Upon tackling the rider; Lute punched at his face with him unable to do really retaliate and she heard circuits malfunctioning which made her pause confused as she got up.

"In our my years chasing monsters; I have never seen anyone just fling themselves at the monsters themselves!" Shaggy muttered in awe as he came out of the van with Scooby after stopping.

"Rou raid it Rhaggy..." Scooby said in equal awe as Lute smirked at them.

"You both haven't seen anything yet..." Lute said but stopped as she realised Shaggy's words as some police cars came. "Wait... Did you say years chasing monsters?" Lute asked wide eyed in disbelief as the sheriff came and got the rider.

"...I don't believe it... Mr Borkman the hotel owner!" the sheriff muttered in shock taking off the broken skull face to reveal it was a mask and underneath was an angry balding man with a moustache.

"And this is the mechanic Boris..." said an officer taking out a tall man from the wreckage of the carriage as Lute just stared.

"So it was a guy in a mask?" Lute asked bewildered as Shaggy laughed with Scooby.

"Scoob and I have been dealing with people like this with our friends ever since we were kids; people pretending to be ghosts or monsters as part of some criminal scheme... But this is the quickest mystery we have solved and we don't even like know the mystery, the suspect, the who or the why? We haven't had like any clues..." Shaggy then explained and then put on a perplexed face.

"The tourism in this small little town had been drying up and I had been losing money; so Boris made this suit and the fake horse robotics with the sound equipment in the carriage so we can total the rides of passerbys and make them have to stay. Business for my hotel and Boris' mechanic business. Pretending to be the ghost of the bandit Cold Jack McCoy." explained Mr Borkman with a glare.

"40 years in special effects before it shut down and no one was hiring; had to settle for this stupid job but my experience allowed me to build all the electronics for this scheme!" Boris then explained as he and Mr Borkman was handcuffed.

"We would have gotten away with it too if you 2 and your dog hadn't been heading into town and you didn't try and tackle a ghost rider." Mr Borkman said as Lute scoffed at him.

"I have dealt with things much scarier than you..." Lute said dismissively as Shaggy and Scooby were in awe and the sheriff came to them.

"Thank you all for this as we have been trying to catch this ghost for 2 months now... YYou know in gratitude; I can have you treated to the local diner... Was in my wife's family and I technically own it until our eldest come to age... How about I treat you...?" the sheriff asked as that definitely lightened up Shaggy and Scooby's eyes and Lute thought why not.

The food at the diner was quite good for a small town in the middle of pretty much nowhere and she looked at Shaggy and Scooby chowing down plates filled off food; much more than she ever thought any mortal could possible eat. Restaurants in Heaven were actually literally all you could eat and she bet that even they would struggle to keep up with them both.

She found it quite amusing and couldn't help but giggle behind her her hand and then a rock song came over the radio playing in the diner.

She started started headbanging to it and Shaggy and Scooby looked at her in awe. "So... You say you have been solving mysteries where it turns out to be elaborate hoaxes perpetrated by con artists and crooks? How do you find all that?" Lute asked perplexed as they scoffed.

"Re ron't." Scooby said simply as Shaggy nodded.

"He said it; we never actually want to go looking for trouble but it always seems to find us. We always want to make a break for it when we realise there is a ghoulish mystery afoot but the gang never lets us." Shaggy then explained and sighed. "But you know what... A part of me actually kind of misses the life... We split up some time ago and... I guess after you have been running from monsters for so long... You get used to it and become attached to the life..." Shaggy admitted and Scooby frowned but ended up nodding.

"So what are you saying? You want to try this business again; find these mysteries and see if they can pay us or at least gives us food and shelter or reward?" Lute asked thinking that it could be something to do on Earth as she tries to find what is she supposed to do now.

No Extermination and no need for Exorcists and thus this thing could be fun.

"Would you really be up for it? This life could be like scary..." Shaggy asked with Scooby nodding and while Lute scoffed; she was ready to just laugh out loud at this.

"Are you kidding... What I have seen... It will take a lot to scare me..." Lute said confidently as they were just speechless; how could they know that she had slaughtered literal demons in literal Hell for a long time?

"I think that we have lucked out here in finding someone actually wanting to do this life?" Shaggy said and Scooby nodded and then the agreement was made. A new Mystery Inc was born.

Chapter Text

Two days later Shaggy and Scooby were on the road again and this time with Lute their new friend and teammate in the new Mystery Inc. Shaggy was now driving with Lute sitting with him and Scooby in the front as Scooby's eyes widened at something. "Something's up Scooby?" Lute asked feeling confused about how she had managed to get used to the talking dog that exists on Earth somehow.

"Reah; raps." Scooby asked as Lute and Shaggy just stared at him.

"Sorry Scooby but I don't think that I can help much with that... I'm a rock music girl than a rap one." Lute said and Scooby pouted in reaction to Lute's misunderstanding and Shaggy's eyes widened.

"Like I think Scooby has wondered about traps since in the mysteries we used to do; Fred always came up with traps to catch the monster when someone mostly Velma has solved the mystery. We usually end up as bait, something goes wrong in the trap but we end up catching the monster anyway. We may need to make traps again and I don't know if we will be end up good at it..." Shaggy explained as Lute listened to him and grinned.

At times during an Extermination; she decided that she wanted to play with her prey and would set up traps to lure them into a false sense of security and then take in their faces going from relief to terror right before she goes in for the kill...

"Lute... You are kind of scaring us both right now..." Shaggy gulped and Scooby shivered as it was clear that Lute got to into her trail of thought and her face morphed into a terrifying predator like grin.

"Oh... Sorry about that... I was just thinking that I could help with traps..." Lute said apologetically as she forced herself to calm down.

"So Lute... Where did you come from before we came across you? What have you been doing?" Shaggy asked as Lute blinked at his innocent question and he and Scooby looked concerned as Lute looked nervous.

How to explain it to them without leving out the key details...

"Well... I was kind of drinking away, kind of lost... You see I got laid off my job..." Lute then explained thinking that it could work well and Shaggy and Scooby looked at her.

"Wow... Sorry to hear about that as that's kind of a bummer..." Shaggy said as Lute coughed.

"Yeah... My superior died and our boss decided that our business wasn't really needed so..." Lute said realising that it was more that she got promoted to a meaningless position but this was easier to explain. "Didn't know what to do... My job was my existence and my boss was basically my best friend..." Lute said with a deep sigh thinking that it wasn't that she didn't like to have fun like going to see movies or play games or eat out or anything but...

Her dedication to being an Excorcist had been a large part of her life.

"Row... Rorry to rear about it..." Scooby said as he and Shaggy frowned sadly and Lute ruffled the fur on her head.

"Yeah but... I guess this means that I don't have to listen to his suggestive talking or pick up lines on women anymore... He could be a lot..." Lute said as they looked surprised to hear about that.

Thinking about it she did her best to hide her annoyance at the nicknames that he gave her and having to watch him use his status as the first man to pick up women...

Plus she managed to not show it but...

Adam calling Charlie 'babe' and calling her relationship with that traitor Vaggie hot; she found creepy considering Charlie is his first wife's daughter. How could Adam have not seen for himself how creepy that was?

"Wow... You know I think I just realised how much I put up with him... Somehow; it doesn't feel as bad about him being gone..." Lute realised out loud feeling weird in a low whisper as Shaggy and Scooby looked at her in sympathy.

"Well we will do our best to be the best friends to you that it can be and we won't be gross like that old boss of yours'..." Shaggy assured her and she smiled at him gratefully.

"Just be gross in a different way as I have seen how much you both eat and how you eat..." Lute answered with them looking sheepish and feeling the most optimistic that she had felt since the last Extermination.

At an airport from Transylvania to a tropical resort; there was a disguised Wolfman ready to board his flight to his vacation as he begins his retirement. A hard life's scaring and serving that egotistical Count Dracula and now he just wanted to settle down. He will be able to leave in time to go visit his daughter Winnie at the Halloween open house at Grimwood's and then pick her up when the school is off for the Summer.

Plus he would send his postcard to the Count after he male himself home at the resort and he wouldn't have to worry about being forced in Dracula's Monster Road Rally. Besides the Count can find another werewolf to replace him...

Meanwhile up in the city of Heaven in the high headquarters of the endless city; the new redeemed seraphim Sir Pentious was showing off a small pod like craft painted white with golden lining to Emily the Joybringer. Emil gave an excited squeak and then embraced Sir Pentious. "Well done Sir Pentious! I am so proud of you!" Emily told him as he hugged her back beaming at the praise.

It was at the moment Sera entered the room and smiled at them; "I am judging from your rather excited statement that things are going well here with our new redeemed friend?" Sera asked as Emily flew up to her still beaming with excitement.

"Yes Sera; look... Sir Pentious built this without any weapons or anything like that..." Emily said taking Sera's hand and then dragging her to the craft to show her as Sera inspected it.

"Indeed... No combat capabilities at all... I am pleased with your progress Sir Pentious." Sera replied and Sir Pentious smiled and gave a polite bow to the high Seraphim; things were difficult starting out even after getting over the shock of an actual sinner being redeemed and ending up in Heaven.

He was afraid of the angels, he seemed insistant on still building his weapons even as they kept telling him that he was safe there and there was no one who would do him harm. Well there were Exorcists who were weary of him at best but they were ordered to stand by and let them deal with him...

But now things were looking up as they prepared to present him to Hell and start going over their proposal to help out the daughter of the Morning Star's Hazbin Hotel.

"Sera; I have been wondering... How is Lute? I know she didn't take it well..." Emily decided to ask as Sir Pentious gulped and Sera just frowned as she gave a sad sigh.

"Unfortunately Emily dear... I don't think Lute is taking it better... She hasn't returned yet and I don't know if she has calmed down yet or if it will be soon..." Sera replied as Emily's frown grew and she looked worried.

"Oh... I hope she is alright..." Emily muttered out; showing her kind and worrying heart even with the issues that she has with Lute and what she and the Exorcists had been doing for so long.

"I do as well; I remember how long it took her to calm down and relent after the only other big blow out she had with me... Over taking care of the monsters on Earth..." Sera then said as this caught Sir Pentious' interest.

"She means the likes of vampires, werewolves, witches and those like them..." Emily clarified and Sir Pentious stared but then bursted into laughter as he put his arm around Emily's shoulder.

"Ah yes Ms Emily; your sense of humour is to be admired... Vampires, werewolves... Are you going to say that Dracula and Frankenstein are real as well..." Sir Pentious laughed only for it to die down when he realised that no one else was laughing and Emily was frowning and Sera looked serious. "you're... Not joking are you..." Sir Pentious muttered feeling tense as Sera shook her head.

"I am afraid not Sir Pentious; the monsters on Earth are very much real and under the rule of none other than the vampire formerly known as Vlad the Impaler... Bram Stroker published not a novel but a real collection of letters about an encounter with the Count... They have kept hidden from most of the humans..." Sera replied as Sir Pentious took this in.

"You see Sir Pentious; when Eve eat the Fruit of Knowledge and brought evil and Darkness to Earth... The dark energy not only caused sin to be possible in the humans but brought forth evil energy that gave birth to creatures that you know as vampires and werewolves... Including dark magic harnessed by witches..." Emily said as Sir Pentious shrieked holding his head as Emily looked concerned.

"If that's so then why aren't you angels down there hunting them down..." Sir Pentious asked incredulously as Sera sighed.

Sera then replied "funny enough; that is what the last big argument with Lute was about..."

"Mam; with all due respect... These foul freaks of nature... These beasts are out there on Earth threatening the lives of the humans and yet we are not sent down there to take care of them like we do the sinners every Extermination?" Lute asked Sera aghast as Sera just shook her head.

"Lute; I hear your concerns but this matter has to treated delicately... We can't risk the entire world finding out about the real existence of Heaven and us..." Sera said as Lute looked like Sera had lost her mind.

"Are you serious? Earth belongs to Heaven and so does the humans; who cares if they find out about us? They exist because Adam and Eve were created by you... Plenty prey to the Lord and depend on us and you don't want us to stop the monsters from threatening them?" Lute demanded as Sera gave a sigh.

"Listen Lute... The existence of our species and city... Humans can do stupid things when they don't understand something and they have gone on plenty of wars in the name of the Lord when he never asked them to... They fear what they don't understand and and when that happens innocents suffer... They found out about witches and they persecuted and executed innocent souls while the ones they were after were in hiding... We take care of the big problems discretely and now even the more dangerous monsters are being softer and not as a threat... To be monitored certainly but..." Sera explained but Lute kept on angrily ranting and Sera had to call for Adam and the other Exorcists to escort her out.

"Discretely? So Dracula is real and no longer a threat?" Sir Pentious asked puzzled as Sera shook her head.

"He has grown softer as the years go by nut no less egotistical and may try to be a threat again; we helped out humanity when he was at the height of his power but his legend is overstated... Not like Sarah Ravencroft..." Sera explained as Sir Pentious looked confused. "Quite possibly the most powerful witch to have ever been born... From a small town and managed to find wayward demon princes and tricked them into letting her absorb power and used a grimoire to be more powerful... Heaven had to step in and grant the local Wiccans the power to seal her inside the grimoire that became her spell book..." Sera then explained as Sir Pentious listened.

"So this Ravencroft... How powerful was she?" Sir Pentious asked as Sera looked more serious.

"Imagine the Overlords in Hell put together... All of them together MIGHT stand a chance against her at the height of her powers..." Sera replied and Sir Pentious gulped in fear. "but back to the original discussion... I do hope that Lute can calm down and be more open... But if I am being honest; I don't think that her anger subsided at the moment..." Sera then said as Emily frowned and sighed at that.

"God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you... Put it in the soul of everyone!" Lute was rocking singing at a karaoke machine in a diner as Shaggy and Scooby watched from their table eating their food.

"Man Scoob... Isn't Lute so cool... Not afraid of anything, able to just tackle the sort of stuff that we spent years running away from and here she is rocking out to Kiss... I think I'm in love..." Shaggy said in awe as Lute was singing the Kiss cover of the Argent song.

The next few weeks seemed to just fly by for Shaggy, Scooby and Lute as they went from location to location; unmasking fake monsters and getting some meals, shelter and even money as a reward. It went from someone piloting an exoskeleton dressed up as a giant monster to some sort of swamp monster and Lute had to admit that she found the mysteries kind of thrilling. Learning about them and pulling off the traps as Shaggy and Scooby helped distract the 'monsters' so that she could go from behind and take them out unexpectedly

"Looks kind of busy..." Shaggy said as the Mystery Machine had driven into the parking lot of a diner which seemed to be kind of full and Scooby groaned at the idea that they wouldn't get anything to eat. Lute however motioned for him to stop the van so that she could open the door and get out.

"No worries Shaggy... How about you find us a parking spot and I save us a table inside." Lute then offered as that seemed to save the dilemma as Shaggy and Scooby started waving to her.

"Okay then thanks Lute; I think me and Scooby could be lost if we didn't have you with us now..." Shaggy said as Lute waved back to them with a smile as she got inside. She got herself seated at the closest empty table and ended up overhearing a nearby conversation:

"Did you hear about that popular boy at that Summer Camp who caused a stir when he was making out with his own sister?"

"I know... My daughter had became a follower of him as well... Seemed like a regular joe to be admired..."

She raised an eyebrow at the gossip that reached her ears; she hated to think how depraved humans could actually be. She thought that they had gone beyond incest but apparently things like that still existed somewhere.

To drown out the talking around the other patrons of this she diner; she decided to look at her phone. It was her own phone from Heaven that was able to easily pass itself off as a human phone.

She looked at the photos on it with her smiling with Shaggy and Scooby; various attractions that they had stopped at and the good times they were having evident on their faces. One had her laughing as Shaggy and Scooby had face filled of cotton candy to the point that it looked like they had pink Santa beards.

They were actually fun to be around and Shaggy was kind of an awkward dork; sure easily frightened with his canine friend but rather nice and cute as well.

"While I am waiting; I could see what I can order..." Lute mused picking up the menu and looking over it as she saw a face looking over her shoulder.

"Big cow ribs; I would say go for them Danger Tits..." said a familiar voice and Lute looked over and jumped in silent shock as she was met with the masked form of the first man himself Adam.

"Adam... What... I saw you... How are you here..." Lute asked stunned as Adam laughed and put his finger to her forehead.

"I am actually here babe... Here in your head..." Adam replied and Lute quickly understood that this was her subconscious speaking to her. "So... How has it been... Wait; don't answer it... I know how it's been... You have been messing about with a stoner and his dog fighting people in suits..." Adam told her as his face fell in a glare making Lute gulp.

"That isn't it Adam... They picked me up... I was in a dark lost place..." Lute then tried to say as the vision of Adam crossed his arms and scoffed.

"This was what you have been doing instead of avenging me and our loss... Instead of leading our armies to exterminate every single sinner in that god forsaken pit... You have been instead looking for people acting like it's Halloween... Was this you trying to live out your desire of hunting the normal monsters?" the vision of Adam then told her as Lute looked defensive.

"Sir... Please... I had every intention of retribution... But then Sera cancelled the Exterminations... Direct order to stay there... I saw the sinner that got redeemed... The Princess... She was right... Everything that we believed in and was so certain in... What was I supposed to do..." Lute asked as the vision of Adam then went and shoved her off her seat and was overlooking her.

"All I'm hearing is excuses... What happened to the Danger Tits that served faithfully by my side all those times... Who slaughtered a shit load of helpless sinners during the Exterminations... The one whose dedication was so great that she cut off her own arm... Whose remaining arm I died in... All I see if a mere pathetic shell of the bitch that I knew..." the vision of Adam yelled at her angrily as Lute looked down and put her hand to her face.

"Ah you know what... .Maybe I am being too harsh... Let me help you up..." the vision of Adam offered reaching out to to her and Lute then reached for the hand and... It went right through. "HAHAHAHAH! I am not even here you dumb bitch; I wonder if you will fall for it a second time like that Princess..." the vision of Adam laughed at her as Lute reached out to the seat and pulled herself up as the vision of Adam disappeared.

She thought about what she experienced with a frown as she signed but noticed she got looks. "What are you looking at?" Lute asked with a glare as they looked away and Shaggy and Scooby came through the door. Lute then waved to them to get their attention while putting what had just happened off her mind.

A little more time had passed and now the new Mystery Inc were at a small roadside hotel that they had solved of their haunting problem with the culprit being a land developer who wanted to scare away all the patrons and force the owners to sell. Lute helped Shaggy and Scooby move their stuff into their room and was giggling as they were filling out a list form the room service menu about what to do.

"Cute and funny with his antics that he shares with his canine best friend..." Lute commented to herself as she went to her own room. She closed the door and jumped as there was none other than Emily the seraphim lying on her bed with her hands to her face like she was a teenage girl listening to romance talk from a friend or a sister.

"So when are you going to ask Shaggy out?" Emily asked as Lute then shushed her and came forward.

"Keep your voice down and what are you doing here..." Lute asked going to grab at her arm only for it to go through. Lute stared at her hand and then Emily and then gave a sigh. "Oh I get it... You are another figment of my conscious..." Lute said looking at the vision of Emily who floated up.

"You didn't answer my question." the vision of Emily told Lute who shook her head.

"How about never... He is just a guy that I am travelling with. A human guy while I am an angel. Would never look if I had any such attraction or feelings towards him and I don't." Lute then retorted as Emily floated up to her.

"Scared of being from different worlds; didn't stop Charlie and Vaggie. Vaggie is like you and with Charlie who is... Half a demon and half angel... Since her dad's Lucifer and her mum's Lilith who was kind of the first sinner... If you want to count it since she never really died..." Emily then said as Lute glared at her.

"Just stop talking to me... Would never work... He would be scared of me if he knew the truth and especially if he knew about how I slayed down demons by the hundreds in a holy crusade... Without knowing how much would be able to change, repent and redeem themselves if they had a chance..." Lute then retorted once more but looked down. and Emily put a hand on her shoulder.

"I wouldn't be here encouraging you if you didn't have any feelings towards Lute and do you really think Shaggy would be like that? Give it a chance..."Emily said encouragingly as Lute looked at her and thought it over.

Without knowing what she was doing; she got out and back to Shaggy and Scooby's room. "Re reard rou ralking." Scooby then said as eyes were on her as she sighed.

"Sorry... Talking to myself Scooby..." Lute then replied as she then coughed. "Listen Shaggy... If we come across as like an outdoor drive in theatre... Do you want to try it together... Just the two of us like..." Lute asked as Shaggy and Scooby had their eyes widened.

"Like a date?" Shaggy answered as Lute looked nervous as Shaggy looked speechless until Scooby then pushed him on the back as if encouragingly.

"Like sure..." Shaggy replied as he and Lute were shocked by this but Lute saw behind her was the vision of Emily floating and looked excited as she gave out a squeeze causing her to give a low sigh.

"Good then..." Lute then said as she then left and the vision of Emily disappeared. She then muttered to herself as she went back to her room saying "okay I did this... Let nothing ruin it..."

Transylvania and Count Dracula's castle; the Count himself was angrily ripping up the postcard that he received from the Wolfman saying that he had retired and it was capped off with him saying that he was glad he wasn't there. "Of all the werewolves that came from the Talbot family... He was always the most annoying... They went downhill after Lawrence..." Dracula snapped as he threw it in the fire.

"Not so bad Vlad honey; you have plenty of other monsters..." his new wife Vanna Pire told him encouragingly as Dracula pushed her away.

"I need a werewolf for the Monster Road Rally and his daughter is way too young... Younger than even my Sibella..." Dracula snapped at her as this was an issue that had to be rectified as soon as possible. He made his way to the castle library and took out a magical grimoire and then found the section of werewolves.

This was what he needed; every 100 years the moon will be in the perfect position for 3 nights to create a new werewolf and the magical paper showed the human that would be the best candidate. "What? Him?" Dracula's eyes widened as he recognised one of his daughter's old gym coaches and though she hid it well; Dracula could tell that Sibella missed the lot and was disappointed with his leaving.

"He can make this up to me by being my new werewolf and then further reparations..." Dracula commented as Vann said how cute Shaggy's picture was.

Lute sat in her seat in the Mystery Machine doing her best to remain calm as playing on the radio was a song by the band the Hex Girls which she thought was quite good; even if gothic music was never her thing. She was focusing as Shaggy drove them right to the nearest town and they saw that there was indeed an outdoor cinema there!

"So... Tonight?" Lute asked with a nervous smile to Shaggy who returned it and Scooby laughed behind his paw at this display. So the date was officially on. "What is wrong with me?" Lute asked herself in her head as she looked at her reflection in the car window and saw that she was red in the face.

She was thousands of years old and slaughtered thousands of souls with the stone cold focus of a hardened warrior and here she was acting like a teenager on her first date!

Shaggy found somewhere for them to stay and got them checked in; "I think I will have a look around and prepare..." Lute said feeling like she needed some time for herself. She glanced at the selection of shops and didn't even know where to start with preparing herself for a date!

She pretty much wandered endlessly when she almost bumped into someone small; "Sorry about that... Are you alright... Seriously; are you alright?" Lute asked looking down at the young girl who seemed to be covered from head to toe in bandages and with a pink bow. From the looks of it; it didn't look like she should be out and about.

"Oh... I'm fine but I got lost... There was a crowd when I got here with my class on a trip and... I have been trying to find them..." the girl then said as Lute feeling responsible offered a hand to take her and the girl then hesitatingly took it.

Lute then began walking with her and before she could ask what was her name; they heard female voices call out the name 'Tanis'. "Tanis! There you are! You had us worried sick when we realised that you weren't there..." A woman said going up to Lute looking relieved.

"I am just fine Ms Grimwood; this nice lady asked me if I was alright and said she would help me find you all." the girl Tanis then told Ms Grimwood as her eyes were on Lute.

"Think nothing of it... Didn't want to just let a lost girl be... I just wanted to see if I can prepare for something..." Lute then said with a smile and wave as she was about to walk by when out from the wall of a nearby store that was behind Lute making her jump was a smiling light blue skinned girl in a blue dress and she seemed to be glowing lightly.

"Oh come on... Let us at least give you a goo ol Grimwood Howl to show our gratitude. I'm Phantasma but you can call me Phanty!" the ghostly girl then said to Lute with a smile before starting to giggle.

"What? How did you do that... This magic trick like a ghost..." Lute snapped at her as Phantasma raised an eyebrow.

"I am a ghost; or rather a phantom..." Phantasma said simply as Lute raised her eyebrow at the ghost comment but then her eyes widened at the phantom comment. "You don't think I could be a ghost?" Phantasma asked as Lute shook her head.

"Ghosts aren't real... When human souls die; they either go to Heaven or Hell..." Lute then retorted but then looked towards Tanis as coming up was a hairy little girl around Tanis' age and a girl like a Frankenstein's Monster. Then Tanis who she first thought must be a badly injured little girl but now...

"Oh thank you for finding Tanis miss but if you are a religious person then I hope the fact that we are ghouls doesn't put you off..." said a light purple skinned smiling girl in a purple robe and Lute saw through the reflection of the the store window that the girl didn't appear like a vampire.

"Well you are welcome... I must be off... Nice to meet all of you..." Lute then said flashing them a smile and a wave before running off before they could do anything.

She made it to an alleyway and took a deep breath; "okay... Monster girls from some sort of school are here... What should I do..." Lute then asked herself before becoming calmer. "They don't seem to be bothering anyone and were perfectly nice and young... Should just leave them be and prepare for the date... No need to bother them..." Lute then decided but then suddenly there was a robed vision in front of her making her groan.

"You are on Earth and now are met with the monsters that have been birthed on Earth and you are gonna just let them be... The vampires and werewolves and the lot are freakish monsters that should be exterminated to protect the humans just like we do to the filthy disgusting Sinners every year... Remember those words Danger Tits? I seem to remember a badass babe yelling those exact words to Sera? What happened to that?" the vision of Adam asked as he floated up making her feel small.

"Sir listen..." Lute tried to say before he leaned in closer.

"Just try to chillax babe; you're wasting you're breath... Did I hear you imply that they don't deserve death? They are freaks and monsters that don't belong on Earth; brought to life when Lucifer gave Eve that fruit... This is your chance to start the Extermination on Earth that you argued for!" the vision Adam told her as Lute shook her head.

"Sir; they might be monsters and ghouls but... They are just children... I can't just kill them..." Lute then said as the vision of Adam seemed to ponder her words which made her relax.

"You know Lute; about 3 years ago I remember an Exorcist that cornered a child Sinner... Had the little brat helpless and afraid and decided to show mercy..." Adam then started to say as Lute's mouth fell wide open as she felt a shiver at what he was bringing up. "You saw it happen and what did you do? Come on and say it... What did you do? Do you think that this is the right thing to do when how you reacted to the traitor doing the same? Huh?" the vision of Adam asked getting closer as Lute went onto her knees and as Adam shoved her; she felt like she felt it despite no physical damage.

"But... I thought that the boy must have been an evil kid to have ended up down there... Like the others... There had been evil kids before... But if the kid was redeemable... Whatever he did; did he know what he was doing was a sin..." Lute then replied unable to refute what Adam was saying as she felt tears in her eyes.

There was another vision appearing that glared at Lute and offered up a hand to help Lute up; "This just means that she knows what it's like to be in Vaggie's shoes... If she can turn over a new leaf..." the vision of Emily then said and then somehow Lute felt her arm being dragged by the vision of Emily who looked excited. "Come on Lute and let's get ready for your date; I think you saw a clothes store when you were looking around..." the vision of Emily then said excitedly and cheerfully as Lute looked back to where the vision of Adam was but it was gone.

Lute just sighed as she tried to put her focus on preparing for this date.

"Like how amazing is this Scoob... I am gonna be on a date with the most beautiful, most amazing, bravest girl ever who can rock out to Kiss and whose first instinct to be faced with an evil ghost rider is to literally throw herself at it to attack... And she was the one who asked ME out..." Shaggy was asking Scooby as not too unsurprisingly; after checking themselves into the hotel they went to the nearest diner to fill up their stomachs with huge orders.

"Rah ramazing." Scooby replied as they tucked into their food but Shaggy was nervous on the inside on somehow messing up the date.

"Scoob... I think I want to try and make myself more ready for a date after we are done here... I know we have known Lute for a while now but... I am scared that I'm going to look like a dope when I see how Lute prepared herself..." SHaggy then said as he then swallowed his giant sandwich and Scooby did the same.

Rushing out after paying for their foods they stopped as there was a group of girls passing with their teacher.

"Rorry... Rait; Rimwoods?" Scooby then said apologetically but then his eyes widened with Shaggy as they then noticed who they were all were and the girls looked at them and their reaction was immediately excitement.

"Shaggy? Scooby? What a nice surprise this is!" Ms Grimwood then said as the dog and man felt themselves embraced hard by the girls at once; not just Elsa Frankenteen.

"We missed you so much coaches; I feel so happy that I could scream... In fact..." Phantasma said as she then yelled out with Shaggy and Scooby wishing that they were able to cover their ears.

"Bailing on us like that... The best gym teachers we ever got..." Winnie the werewolf then said as as Tanis nodded.

"I was afraid that you didn't like us anymore..." Tanis said a little sadly which made Scooby and Shaggy feel like jerks.

"Like sorry and it's good to see all of you as well..." Shaggy then said thinking back to their time at Grimwood's and how attached they were to their students once they got to know them.

"You were kind of strange but as Winnie said; the best and most fangtastic teachers that we ever had!" Sibella then said with a bright smile as they finally let them go.

"I decided to take the girls who had been at the school longer on a field trip to help them adjust to the human world better." Ms Grimwood then explained to Shaggy and Scooby about why they were there.

"What a funny thing fate is... We just happened to come in here with our new friend Lute... Who I have a date with tonight that I want to prepare!" Shaggy then said eyes widening and he was about to run off with Scooby as the Grimwood girls took this in and Elsa took Scooby's tail and Shaggy's hand to stop them from running off.

"You have a date Shaggy? Is this date good enough for our coaches?" Winnie asked as Shaggy laughed as he got out a photo from his wallet.

"She is like the best; she saved us both from some bikers outside this bar..." Shaggy then said as the girls gasped at the woman in the photo with Shaggy and Scooby.

"...No way... That's your date Shaggy? We all ran into her earlier... Tanis got lost and your date found her and brought her here. A funny one she was; didn't think I could be a ghost since she thought strongly about the Heaven and Hell afterlives that you humans believe..." Phantasma then said as Shaggy and Scooby gasped.

"She was quite nice." Tanis then said smiling.

"No way is right... Funny how this happened..." Shaggy then replied finding this funny indeed; she could only imagine how Lute would react if she thought that they were real ghouls. Plus he didn't think if Lute was overly religious before; besides singing Kiss' God Gave Rock N Roll to You. "I hope we can catch up later girls..." Shaggy then said waving with Scooby and they waved back and the Ms Grimwood then led them forward.

"So we are spying on their date tonight to make sure things go swell?" Winnie asked the other girls in a whisper and there were big grins from Phantasma and Sibella.

Chapter Text

Count Dracula had taken more time tracking down the human and dog duo that he was after than he would have liked; viewing the direction he was getting and travelling there only to find out that they had taken a turn somewhere so they were headed somewhere different than where he thought they were.

Still he had made it there on the first night where he needed to get Shaggy under that special full moon to create his new werewolf!

It was getting late as he had found the hotel where the two were staying; there was their Mystery Machine there in the parking lot. "Okay Vanna; I found where Shah-gee and I am going to think of how to get him out in the moonlight..." Dracula then said but jumped as there were as a familiar spectral girl jumping out at him.

"Sibella look! There's your father... Hi Mr Count!" Phantasma told him with one of her laughs and a cheery wave as Dracula gasped and saw that there in hiding was his daughter and her classmates there. What were they doing there?

"Sibella honey... Why are you here? I thought that you were all at school?" Dracula asked trying hard not to panic as them being there could put a huge hole into his plans.

"We are here on a field trip daddy; what are you doing here?" Sibella asked and Dracula cursed the luck; of all the places where they could go.

"Is that Sibella I hear? Tell her that I said hi!" Vanna spoke from the phone as Sibella glared with a sigh and Dracula just facepalmed; despite Vanna's efforts Sibella wasn't too fond of her stepmother.

Dracula hanged up the phone as he said "I was out for a break... Decided to go somewhere small... Imagine my surprise to find you here..."

"Not the only ones here in a surprising twist; Shaggy and Scooby our favourite coaches ever are here! Plus Shaggy has a date and we wanted to tag along and that things work out well!" Phantasma then told him and Dracula thought his luck was more cursed to have an unknown person into the mix.

"Oh the ones that bailed on you without warning... You know I do owe Shag-Gee for saving my dear Sibella so how about I help you?" Dracula asked putting on a smile and Sibella frowned at him bringing up how the cowards fled when the new students came; however they went to hiding as they heard someone coming and it was a dressed up pale skinned short haired woman. Dracula was thinking that he wasn't really lying: by turning Shaggy into a werewolf; he would have the honour of competing in his big race.

"That's her Lute; she was so nice in helping me earlier..." Tanis whispered and Dracula thought that this woman shouldn't be too much of a problem. They watched as Shaggy and Scooby went to greet them from the hotel and Shaggy was awestruck while the woman smirked. There was giggling from Phantasma and Sibella while Dracula just watched as they went into their Mystery Machine.

The ghouls managed to keep hiding and followed the van to an outdoor cinema and Dracula was annoyed as they watched through that entire movie; hours wasted as they watched basically a van...

Plus the movie from what he could see on the big screen was stupid as well.

Trying to think of something and seeing the moon ready to come out with the clouds going away; it then hit him... "Say Phantasma; if they had to leave their van then they could have a romantic night in the moon..." Dracula suggested as Phantasma struggled not to scream out loud from how good an idea she ahd found it.

She quickly made her way to the engine of the van and started messing with it but left.

The 2 humans and the dog went out and they heard Shaggy say "you know Lute; we can finish this outside the van; no need to waste the rest of the date without trying to fix the van..." They watched intently and Dracula hoped that the girls didn't notice the smirk he was having.

"That will do... Can't let anyone spoil the best date of my life... Only one really..." Lute then said coming up to Shaggy as they sat down together.

"Really? A cool girl like you has never been on a date before?" Shaggy asked surprised as the girls tried hard not to squeal out loud from how good the date was going.

"I have been more married to my job but an ex co-worker did try and get me to relax more... Have never been invited on dates anyway... Unless you count Adam inviting me to join him in one of his one night stands... Come on Danger Tits; let's make it a threeway or fourway!" Lute then said as the older girls were put off speechless and looked to the younger girls and wondered about covering their ears.

"What is she talking about..." Dracula muttered not wanting to know who this Adam was. But he then saw the moon coming out more as the girls were focused on Shaggy and Lute's faces coming closer and closer...

Yes the van breaking down was annoying, the movie was fun in a cheesy kind of way and it probably wasn't smart of her to bring up how Adam kept inviting her on to join him on one of his conquests. The more she thought about it; the more she realised that she had put up with him...

Anyway she thought that the date was going better than great and Lute and Shaggy found themselves by sinctint putting their faces together as Scooby watched; being their wingman or wingdog as she and Shaggy had their first kiss.

It felt more than perfect and they looked at eachother with big smiles and the moment was perfect... But then Shaggy started to look hairier and hairier. Shaggy was about to ask what was going on but he felt his face and looked at his arms.

Scooby screamed in shocked fright and Lute was open mouthed wide open and some people started to notice and started screaming. Lute was in a panic as she saw that it looked like Shaggy was turning into some sort of beast...

Knowing how humans could get she took Shaggy's arm and got him and Scooby to start running and following her.

The Grimwood girls were shock and Dracula tried to hide his glee; "Shaggy has been a werewolf all this time?" Tanis asked confused.

"Can't be... We would have known all this time he was at Grimwood's and he looked so shocked... Somehow he became one... I don't know how to feel..." WInnie said taking this in.

"Shaggy looked so freaked out... He and Scooby must be so scared and Lute; how she reacted in shock to find out they were ghouls... All this must be so overwhelming after not having dealt with monsters before..." Sibella said in a gasp and gave a huge frown as she looked in worry.

"What do we do?" Elsa asked as the girls were scared and Dracula pulled them together and put a comforting hand on his daughter's shoulder.

"I know this must be a shock but Shah-Gee must be at a lost right now and have no idea on what happened or where to find answers... I have a huge library at my manor and I am sure that we can find the answers there... Trust me; no harm will come to him and we will fix it." Dracula said confidently as Sibella smiled gratefully at him and pulled him into an embrace and he returned it.

This was becoming a win.

"Thanks daddy!" Sibella told him and then let go. "Let's go and find Coach Shaggy, Scooby, Lute before something happens to them." Sibella then said as Dracula looked at them.

"Why don't you go back to Ms Grimwood and I will see you all in the morning. I will find him myself." Dracula suggested to let them have their sleep and they seemed to relent on that. Dracula then walked them to where they were staying as Sibella gave him the directions. Then he would find his werewolf and how hard could that be.

Lute looked at Shaggy and it was clear that he had become a werewolf somehow; "How can this be... I was never bitten by Winnie and I can't be seen like this..." Shaggy muttered looking at his reflection in a broken window in the alleyway they went to hide as Lute tried to think of a solution to this.

"There is an easy fix to this Lute... Get your spear and... STAB! STAB! STAB! You have a werewolf with you..." the vision of Adam said smirking looking over her neck and she shook it away trying to think of a solution quick.

"Okay Lute... Most of the magic that the monsters use on Earth came from lost or stolen grimoires and you could find out how to fix this by getting the information that would be in these grimoires in Hell... The best bet would be Lucifer and there is no way that he nor his daughter will be willing to even hear me out..." Lute then said to herself and screamed and Scooby and Shaggy looked her way.

"Lute... I know this is freaky but..." Shaggy then said as he came closer hesitatingly but Lute got his hand softly.

"We will fix this together Shaggy. I promise." Lute then said softly as Shaggy stared at her who was staying by her side. Her mind racing wondering what to do; if only there was someone they would listen to in Heaven to go in her stead...

Emily; she would be more than happy to help but she would rather not deal with Sera right now and have to explain this to her...

Lilith. That was out of the question considering their last meeting...

"What do you mean no?" Lute demanded taken aback looking down at Lilith sunbathing on the Heaven beach.

"As I said; no. If the deal I had with Adam is off then I owe nothing to you; I am not your puppet to dance at your wish and remove yourself from my sunlight or I won't be as inclined to resist retaliating over what you just called my daughter." Lilith then retorted as Lute grew angry.

"You don't seem to understand your situation here; you are here on our leisure thanks to your deal... You are going to fix that stupid hotel that your bitch of a daughter..." Lute demanded but not even a minute later she was pinned down to the ground as Lilith was up and with one hand was strangling Lute's neck while her other removed her sunglasses so that Lute could see her face.

"Never think that you can boss me about again you arrogant fool. Don't think to demand anything of me again... By letting you live you will answer to my demands: your fued with this project is over. You will leave Charlie, my husband alone and I am adding Charlie's girlfriend to the list as well. You mess with them or think to order me about again..." Lilith then said as she let her threat be unsaid as she then let go and went back to her sunbathing chair.

She had thought to outrank her by going to Sera for retaliation but she knew how that went to; going to Lilith to ask to get information from her husband and daughter was not going to end well at all.

Wait...

There was someone else in Heaven she could go to...

"Shaggy... Scooby... Do you trust me? I need you both to have an open mind..." Lute asked with a sigh and they blinked and then nodded.

"Like off course Lute." Shaggy then said as Scooby kept on nodding.

"Great... Please close your eyes." Lute then said and they did so and Lute took a deep breath as she put her hand out and created a portal underneath the both of the.

They were now in a white room that looked like a luxury suite; it had been a while since she was back in her bedroom in Heaven and they opened their eyes and gasped. "Shaggy please; I am going to need you to stay here and stay hidden please... Don't leave until I come back... I am going to get help I promise but I need you to trust me. Can you keep watching over him for me Scooby?" Lute asked as they then shared a look.

"Roff rourse Rute." Scooby then said nodding.

"I can do that Lute but how did we get here and where are we?" Shaggy asked a little freaked out as Lute pulled him into a hug.

"I promise that I will explain later. Please just trust me for now..." Lute then told them as they let go and Lute then waved goodbye as she then went through the door. She didn't know how to explain it later but that was for later; right now she had a literal snake to find...

Chapter Text

Lute then began running through the streets of Heaven taking in the pleasant sense that the air of the majestic golden city produces; she had forgotten what it felt like and was leaving the angels in her way confused as she ran past or around them. Now where to find Sir Pentious and Lute looked around and then noticed the angels up in the air and on the buildings.

Lute paused; she had managed to forget all about her wings during her time on Earth despite how brief it was compared to her time spent in existence. She then focused and summoned it but heard a voice say "Commander Lute?"

Lute paused and then saw some unmasked Exorcists coming up and Lute struggle to come up with words for a minute as they stood and saluted her; she didn't expect to stopped like this and she had forgotten about what was her rank now. Even if it was mostly meaningless with no Exterminations.

"Mam; no one has seen you for a while. Word had it that you had been taking the end of the Exterminations and what happened back in Hell badly; how have you been?" one of them asked and Lute took a deep breath.

"...I'm fine... Just needed some time to myself... Say; do you know where the sinner who made it up here is? I want to talk to him..." Lute asked as they were hesitant and she groaned inwardly as she didn't have time for this.

"Sorry Mama but you do remember that Sera banned us attacking or antagonising him..." another asked and Lute calmed herself as she remembered it.

"I remember but I need his help with something... Can you please?" Sera asked as they then looked at eachother.

"I think he is with his son and some other winners back where we usually get slushed drinks." another asked as Lute quickly gave her thanks as she took a moment to remember how to soar herself into the air as she flew into the area.

She soon got to the area and smirked as she found Sir Pentious; sitting down at an outdoor cafe laughing with some winners who stopped as Lute came up behind Sir Pentious.

"Uh dad..." spoke one of the fluffy furred angels in old fashioned clothes and a top hat who pointed behind Sir Pentious who turned and jumped fearfully to see Lute.

"Sir Pentious; I want to say that I think we got off the wrong track. I'm Lute and how have you been doing in Heaven?" Lute asked putting on a pleasant smile that looked kind of creepy as Sir Pentious found his voice.

"Good... I found my boy and I got to meet his wife and kids... I died before he met his wife and... They have been telling me about our descendants on Earth and... Ms Molly has been nice; wanting to hear about her brother Angel Dust back in Hell..." Sir Pentious said as Lute then nodded letting him say his peace.

"Have you been back there yet? Do they know?" Lute asked Sir Pentious blinked and the winners at the table shared a look.

"No... Ms Sera said that they are still working on letting the Hotel know and that it works..." Sir Pentious said as Lute put her arm around his neck.

"How about we make it sooner; how about you go back there and show them the fruits of their labour... Plus if you can ask if there is a grimoire in the Morningstar library that has details about say... Werewolves and how sunlight can suddenly transform one and how to fix it?" Lute asked putting on a grin as Sir Pentious stared.

"It sounds to me like you just want to use me to get some sort of info for you..." Sir Pentious then said as Lute just stood still awkwardly cursing herself; of all the things that had been used to describe her during her existence, 'subtle', was never one of them.

"Do you want me to get on my knees and beg? Because I really need this information badly and the Morningstars are possibly the best bet at getting it." Lute then said letting go of his neck and then sounded desperate as she pleaded.

"Why not just ask them yourself?" asked Sir Pentious' son and Lute retorted with a humorless laugh.

"Are you kidding? I have some bad blood with them and... I am not allowed to tell you but... For so long I had cursed the sinners down there and thought that they were irredeemable trash and... Now I find out that they can be redeemed and... Without knowing it I have been taking that chance away from possibly redeemable souls and I had harmed the Princess and her girlfriend in so many ways and... They won't hear me out but I need what they know since a guy I met on Earth drowning my sorrows... He is really great and... I thought that I had meaning again..." Lute then yelled with tears in their ears as the angels stopped and looked at her in sympathy and some passerbys stopped and gave their look of sympathy as well.

Sir Pentious gave a look to his son and guests and they nodded and Sir Pentious then directed Lute to an alleyway to allow her to let it all out.

"...I don't know Scoob as I do trust Lute and think that she knows what she is doing but... This room is quite clearly... Reminds me of the places from that Good Place show... Does Lute have a secret past? Is she part of some secret organisation?" Shaggy was asking Scooby in Lute's bedroom and Scooby didn't know what to say as he was creeped out by the room as well.

Then they heard knocking at the door and they jumped and gulped with Shaggy going underneath the bed to hide and Scooby went underneath the covers shivering. "Lute; are you there talking to someone? I was just by and I heard and I know this is your room and I just want to know... Is everything alright? I know it was a nasty shock and no one has seen you for a while..." Emily said as she opened up the doors and notice the quilt on the bed with the visible lump. She flew up and took off the covers to reveal Scooby.

Scooby looked at Emily as she gave out an excited squeak; "Oh my gosh... Lute has got a pet and he is so cute!" Emily shouted out taking Scooby for a hug and Shaggy then banged his head from jumping in shock as he made himself known. "Oh hello... Is this your dog instead? You must be a new friend of Lute from Hell. I am guessing she has been there to reflect." Emily then greeted him taking Shaggy's hand to shake.

"Uh hi... I'm Shaggy and this is Scooby Doo and... Did you say Hell?" Shaggy asked confused.

"Nice to meet you both. I'm Emily the seraphim. You can just call me Em, Emmy. E. Whatever you want. I go by whatever!" Emily introduced hersel as they stared.

"Listen Emily... Lute asked us to stay here and she went to get someone..." Shaggy then said as Emily gasped and thought of something else.

"That's no fun; how about I show you around and we will find her together!" Emily then said taking Shaggy's hand and dragged him out as she was flying with Scooby following.

"Rait ror me!" Scooby yelled as he started running after them with him and Shaggy wanting to get to the bottom of this.

"So yeah... All that I have done with Adam... I am now faced with the facts that what I believed have been false... Hell isn't forever and Heaven is a lie... I wronged the Princess and I am left thinking that they all justifiably hate me... I have done what I tore her girlfriend's eye and wings out for doing... Showing mercy and restraint... I have been a horrible bitch and dealing with that fact and finally facing that my best friend and boss is a horrible bastard who didn't deserve to stay in Heaven... They won't hear me out if I go there myself but I need their help..." Lute finished telling Sir Pentious who gave it a thought and then smiled at her.

"You can face them yourself; something you need to do to start over... You can fix things..." Sir Pentious then said as Lute looked at him as if he was out of his mind.

"It starts with sorry..." Sir Pentious started singing as he came closer with his smile. "That's your foot in the door... One simple sorry... Spoken straight from your core The path to forgiveness is a twisting trail of hearts... But sorry is where it starts!" Sir Pentious then continued on singing as Lute shook her head.

"You really think that they will forgive someone like me; that I deserve their amnesty? They would sooner kill me and spill my guts!" Lute retorted also singing as Sir Pentious took her hand.

"You really think that none of them haven't been in your shoes? It starts with sorry!" Sir Pentious then sang as Lute cleared her breath.

"I'm sorry..." Lute managed to mutter.

"Dig down deeper and say... One sincere sorry!" Sir Pentious encouraged her and Lute closed her eyes.

"I'm so sorry..." she sang with meaning.

"Now your journey is underway; it'll take time to cover y our vast multitude of sins... But sorry is where it begins!" Sir Pentious then finished as Lute opened up her eyes and smiled at him.

"You know what... You're absolutely right... I can't just run and hide... I have to face this head on myself... For Shaggy..." Lute then said with a nod and Sir Pentious then started clapping as Lute then brought forth a portal.

Lute then looked dead serious as she flew right through it...

Chapter Text

Lute got through the portal and flew down to an alleyway to hide out as she gathered herself; deciding to hide her wings and not draw attention to herself. She felt like covering her nose as she got to the streets and then took into the putrid smell of Hell and the general atmosphere that it generated.

She walked to the streets and there was a shove from a taller demon; "Watch it bitch; find your corner and stay out of my fucking way..." snapped the demon when he clearly got in her way to shove past her. Lute glared at the demon and his implication and she ran and shoved him back and the shove to the gut sent him back and landed his ass on the streets to be ran over by a car.

She looked around and sighed about how much she hated this place; how she looked forward to coming here every year only to murder as much Sinners as possible... Many of them could...

She had to stay focused and saw a street sign post and knew where to go from there to the Hazbin Hotel; the benefit of flying to Hell every year for so long. She made the effort of staying out of the way of any demons on the streets; not start anything and not draw attention to herself and gulped as she finally got to the expanded rebuilt Hazbin Hotel.

She got to the front door was about to knock and stopped herself; "You know they are just gonna attack you when they knw you're here... At least you can tell Sera that it was in good faith and you acted in sef defence..." said a voice and there was the vision of Adam smirking at her peering over her shoulder and the vision fo Emily caught her hand as if to direct it to knock as the vision glared at the vision of Adam.

Lute took a deep breath and finally knocked; she kept on knocking until two minutes and it finally opened. "Please don't be impatient; I'm here... Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel, I'm Charlie and we are so glad to..." Charlie said at the door her usual chippy attitude on full display only to pause at an unpleasantly surprised voice once she saw who was at the door.

Lute coughed and then gave an awkward smile "Hello Princess... Been a while... Don't worry; I am here in good faith as I need... It will take time to explain... May I come in?"

"Will you be trying to destroy the place or attacking any of the sinners again?" Charlie asked calmly in a low voice and Lute gulped but knew that her reaction was warranted considering their history.

"Oh no... Don't you worry... I come in peace..." Lute assured her and Charlie then silently invited her in and looked around. "Well... You have certainly done a good job fixing things up..." Lute said trying to draw up some small talk.

"Thank you." Charlie replied in the same low calm voice.

"So is it some new fresh meat... FUCK... This is a surprise..." Husk then said from the bar and prety much jumped from his stool as he could clearly see Lute with Angel Dust drinking from his seat had his eyes widen as wel which turned to a glare. Then there were steps from the staircase and Lute stared with agulp as she saw Lucifer walking with Vaggie. The Morning Star was the first to stop as he noticed Lute.

"Charlie; was that a new patron and do you need help... Plus what was that Husk..." Vaggie said but she stood frozen on the spot once her eyes found Lute and Lute awkwardly tried to smile and wave to her. "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING BACK HERE... YOU HAVE SOME NERVE YOU BITCH..." Vaggie snapped furiously with Lucifer glaring at Lute from his spot.

Vaggie was running up to Lute and the commotion caught the attention of Niffty; Lute saw the creepy sinner who was the one to kill the first man herself. She recognised her perfectly and once the shorter sinner noticed her and realised who she was; she put on a grin and got out a Heavenly knife.

"STABBITY! STAB! STAB!" Niffy shouted running up to Lute with Lute stepping back preparing herself but Charlie pushed her back.

"I would just let her Charlie; who does she think she is coming back here after I told her and her friends not to come back... Did she decide that she couldn't wait until the next Extermination..." Lucifer demanded as Charlie then faced him and Vaggie.

"Yeah! Let her stab!" Angel Dust cheered on as he came in closer with Husk and soon Alastor walked down from his hiding spot and came in closer to watch with the biggest smile on his face.

"Listen Dad, Vaggie... Everyone... We all have every right to be angry at her but... She says that she comes in peace and... I want to at least her her out before we send her away..." Charlie then said as Lucifer raised an eyebrow and Vaggie scoffed as she folded up her arms.

"She comes in peace... That's rich..." Vaggie snorted and Lute put her head down sighed. She gathered up her thoughts and...

Wait...

Something Lucifer did.

"Hold on... Next Extermination... You haven't been told yet... The Exterminations have been cancelled forever..." Lute ended up saying surprised and this definitely caught their attention as they stared at her.

"You really expect us to believe that Sera would let the Exterminations be cancelled forever? She let Adam go through with the idea!" Lucifer said as Lute just nodded.

"Listen yet... It was all her decision as... Well... I don't know if you are gonna believe me..." Lute then said as they eyed her. "Anyway... I want to say that... That... I'm sorry... Sorry for everything..." Lute managed to force herself to say as she was looking down as they just stared at her.

"Oh yeah... You ripped out my eye, cute off my wings, helped your boss destroy this place, tried to finish the job and did everything you can to stop Charlie's dream but you are sorry... That makes everything fucking better!" Vaggie snapped sarcastically shaking her head. "The fucking nerve of you even being here..." Vaggie whispered in a low voice as she came in closer as Lute forced herself to face her with Vaggie being surprised to find none of Lute's usual zealousness or unwavering determination in Lute's demeanour.

"listen... You of all beings have every right to hate me to my very core and I am not asking that you don't... Please I need help from you and once you help me; I will leave never to return and you can continue hating me... Please... Someone who I care much about has... He has been turned into a werewolf and... I was hoping you have information on how to turn him back..." Lute then said as there was scoffing from Angel Dust.

"Come on now... You could have at least come up with a better story... Like werewolves are real... Next thing you are goinna tell me is that vampires exist as well..." Angel Dust then said Charlie and Vaggie then looked at him making his eyebrow raised. "You're not serious... Are you? Shit; they do exist... Don't they..." Angel Dust taking this in along with Husk.

"Yeah... Eve getting that apple did more than just make it so that people could sin on Earth... The things that go bump in the night were born as well..." Lucifer then said as he then came up to Lute sternly. "But still... You are saying that someone you know has become a werewolf... Must not have good taste to associate with you..." Lucifer then said and something snapped in Lute.

"Shut the fuck up about things you don't understand... Shaggy is amazing and if it wasn't for him and his dog helping me out of a funk I have been... If it wasn't for them... I would still be aimlessly wandering about bars on Earth; building up tabs that would never be paid... And he got transformed and monsters freak the hell out of him and... It was after we kissed and ruined our first date..." Lute shouted out angrily gaining the fire back that she had lost some time ago but paused as Lucifer was taken aback.

Charlie and Vaggie then shared a look and then looked to Lute; "You really care about this guy; don't you?" Charlie asked softly but her face still having an edge to it; Lute just silently nodded. "My entire business and my worldview revolves around giving second chances so... We will help you..." Charlie ended up saying as Lute flashed her a grateful smile.

"Thanks Princess... And I really meant what I said earlier... I'm sorry..." Lute ended up saying quietly with no one really knowing how to respond to this.

"I must say this started out so intriguing and I was sure that it would be so much fun but it sure became boring. If you would please excuse me; I am sure that there is a down on the luck sinner out there in need for me trapping them into a deal that they can't get out of." Alastor sighed with a roll of his eyes as he walked up to the door and then opened it. "Charlie. Lucifer. We have another guest of the angelic equation." Alastor said as Charlie, Vaggie and Lucifer's eyes widened hard as floating in looking stern was Sera.

"Sera... Fuck..." Lute shouted out knowing how bad this was going to go.

"Lute; some other Exorcists said that they found you and they said that you were looking for Sir Pentious. He then told me that you went here and I hope that you can explain what you are doing." Sera said as sternly as the look on her face as Lute laughed awkwardly.

"Oh my; now this looks like it will be the fun that was denied to me..." Alastor laughed but stopped. "Hold on Ms... Sera; is it? What did you just say?" Alastor asked catching on to what Sera said.

"Please be lenient with Ms Lute as I assure you that she has the best intentions..." said a voice from the door and there was Sir Pentious coming in with loud gasps from everyone there.

"Is that..." Charlie asked as her face became a big smile.

"No fucking way..." Vaggie muttered out.

Alastor's eyes went to a different color and the sound of his microphone sounded like it was malfunctioning.

"Hello there everyone! Strangest thing; I remembered getting obliterated and I ended up with Ms Sera and Ms Emily." Sir Pentious then greeted them with a wave.

Angel Dust then muttered out "pinch me, I must be fucking dreaming... OW! WHAT THE FUCK NIFFT!"

Chapter Text

Shaggy was dragged by Emily outside of the building with Scooby not far behind them. They looked to the outside of the building and were stunned to see how tall and bright everything looked with even the ground being bright and shiny. Almost everyone that passed them had a friendly smile and had the head looking like an animal along with angel like wings on their backs.

"Okay Scoob... I wish I had words to describe what I am feeling..." Shaggy said as they noticed looking up people flying about with their wings and even hanging around billboards talking about politeness and kindness. Shaggy ended up walking into someone and he then said "like so sorry about that... Just got here and..."

"No need to apologise; it was an accident and those tend to happen. Plus everyone needs time to take everything in when they go through the gates." the person then greeted them with a warm smile and gave them and Emily a wave (with Emily eagerly returning it) before going her way.

"Scoob... I think we are in Heaven... I am not taking about a cheap all you can eat buffet but I think this is legit Heaven where people go when they die... That Heaven..." Shaggy told Scooby as Emily pulled Shaggy close with her hand taking yes.

"Yep. Welcome to Heaven where the virtuous reside... Sorry... Don't want to steal Saint Peter's song... Must be a lot to take in everything good here... Especially after how much time you spent in Hell..." Emily told Shaggy as he shook his head.

"Sorry Emily but there has been like a mix up... I never been to Hell... Our friend Lute took us here and told us to stay in the room while she went somewhere... You see; I am an actual living human... Or at least I was... A little earlier there was a full moon and it turned me into a werewolf... Ruined our date and after we kissed and so... We have a lot on our minds..." Shaggy then explained as Emily frowned and took this in.

"Wait... So you are not a demon or a sinner... I have never met a werewolf before... Or a living human for that matter... I don't think that one has ever been brought up to Heaven before..." Emily then said thinking it over but then she froze as her eyes were widening slowly until they were incredibly wide. "Did you say that you were on a date with Lute and you both kissed... TELL ME EVERYTHING!" Emily shouted out excited taking Shaggy's other hand into hers' as she was floating up and down excitedly tiring Shaggy immensely.

"Like... Can you please... Getting dizzy..." Shaggy said as Emily then sheepishly stopped and apologised.

"Rare rou ran rangel?" Scooby ended up asking as Emily giggled and nodded.

"Yep... A Seraphim to be exact... The highest form of Angels here... I work underneath the head one Sera and my job is the Joybringer; to bring joys to the human souls that have ascended up to Heaven for eternity." Emily then explained with a proud smile as Shaggy looked at her.

"So is Lute a Seraphim like you? She hasn't exactly said anything about Heaven... Well she has said stuff related to possibly being religious but nothing to suggest she is a literal angel..." Shaggy then asked as Emily frowned.

"She hasn't told you... I don't know if it's my place to tell..." Emily ended up saying as Shaggy sighed; he was better off getting the story from Lute herself. Emily then noticed some figures flying down to them and Shaggy and Scooby jumped afraid as Scooby got into Shaggy's arms. They had black and silver uniforms with scary looking arms.

"Can we help you?" Shaggy asked as one of them came up to Shaggy.

"Norville Rogers... Prefers to be called Shaggy? Scooby Doo?" she asked and Shaggy nervously nodded. "Ms Sera has instructed us to find you and bring you to her..." she then said as Shaggy and Scooby gulped as it looked scary how the mouth of the mask moved like a mouth.

"Why does Sera want them?" Emily asked urgently as the figure then faced Emily.

"Nothing to worry about that Ms Emily; Ms Sera has instructed that no harm comes to them." she then replied and Emily gave them an eye but reluctantly left as the figure then opened up a portal and Shaggy and Scooby then looked at eachother as the figures then looked at them. The dog and werewolf gulping before going through.

While the happy reunion with Sir Pentious was beginning at the Hazbin Hotel; Alastor trying to take all this in retreated back to his room. The room was decorated with a broken TV screen that used to be the head of his one-sided rival Vox. Not long after what happened at the failed Extermination; the Vees thought with Alastor having to flee from Adam then it showed weakness and it would allow a power vaccum for them to use to take power and become the dominant force in Hell.

There was a reason why Carmilla Carmine never really took them seriously and neither did Alastor.

They launched their plan and tried to blindside Charlie and Lucifer into a deal and Alastor showed up to get in on the ensuing fun and the one-sided fight that ensued. Velvette left when she realised how in over their heads the Vees where, Vox wasn't lucky enough to escape this fight with Alastor and Valentino learned how lucky he was when Charlie got angry at his place. The pimp Overlord was left in a near death state with his limbs barely usable, all power stripped off him, his contracts destroyed and Charlie gave his hat to Angel Dust.

Alastor looked out the window contemplating what he had just saw; Sir Pentious... Not gone for good after a second death... He had somehow redeemed himself... Redeemed himself...

He made no secret to Charlie that he found her plan and hopes of redeeming sinners quite laughable and doomed for failure. That was why he wanted to help; to have a front row seat to see sinners try and get a second chance out of the soul crushing Pride Ring that was their eternal punishment only to fall into more despair as it inevitably fails for them...

But he had seen it with his own eyes...

A former sinner there with what happened to be a high angel from Heaven...

This hotel might actually have a chance at succeeding?

What was he to do now when faced with the fact that it wasn't a sure fire thing that the tenants of this hotel wasn't setting themselves up for inevitable failure?

Glancing at the window he saw a portal opened up and it looked like a werewolf and a dog yelling as they went through with a group of Exorcists

"Well this might be entertaining at least..." Alastor said to himself walking back to he front row to watch the events unfold.

If I were to do a reboot of this story; you think you can help me please with what to put in it? I still want to put the Grimwood girls in it but also want to try Shaggy X Loona so any ideas please on how to do that? Plus again bringing in the Grimwood girls as well. I will credit anyone whose ideas I do end up using. Thanks.
