The mountains are alive tonight with the sound of falling stars, singing on their way down in luminous gleams of melodious light. The full moon glows and glows, a cascade of silvery moonlight sweeping across the dark stone surface of the mountain and past its lake like the stately twirl of a Gardevoir’s ball gown.
It’s a humming, magical night, perfect for a star dance.
Cleffa is on her tiptoes, eyes alight. Already buoyant with excitement, she watches with the others as the Clefairy set the stage. Their steps are light and airy as the moonlight guides their song. A group of Clefable sing along, wings fluttering as they glide over the gleaming water to meet in the middle. The melody grows — as does the light in Cleffa’s pounding heart.
It’s almost time.
Starlight sweeps the stage and streaks across the sky in lines of blazing light. It’s all Cleffa can hear as the song tucks itself into her heart and begins to pull. She steps forward to join her first star dance.
It’s just like she practiced and even better, because the radiant joy of all her siblings surrounds her, a familiar kind of music and magic all on its own. The light twirls around her as she spins and spins, following the dance of the stars and moon overhead.
Cleffa’s dance shimmers a song as she looks towards the sky, in tune with the stars, and a wish begins to build in her heart. With each new step she sings it higher and higher as the other Cleffa dance alongside her, guided by the moonlit steps of the Clefairy around them.
With her eyes brimming with light, Cleffa wishes upon a star that hears her song.
High up in the sky, surrounded by dots of shining light and tucked away in a fluffy cloud, a young star listens. Sleep tugs at its consciousness and a yawn disturbs the shimmering surface of its body as Cosmoem awakens at the sound of a wish spinning around, stuck in its orbit. How curious, it thinks, and how lovely to be wished for.
A streak of gold-limned light follows its descent to meet the dancer that called upon its name.
Clefairy and Clefable hear its coming far before the young Cleffa do. They step in tune and circle around one little Cleffa in particular as the star descends from the glowing sky to meet her. Cleffa stands in the center of the stone stage in a perfect pool of moonlight that no shadow can touch as Cosmoem arrives before her.
Waves of warm light cascade from the star that floats before Cleffa’s very eyes and she gasps. A real star! Come to visit her and grant her wish! The glow of joy radiates from Cleffa and spills out into the singing world around her, a melody that Cosmoem repeats back as the star dance begins anew. Only this time, Cleffa and Cosmoem orbit each other in the center and speak their own songs, stumbling in some places yet surging forward as new friends often do, held aloft by their curiosity and excitement. Cosmoem shares the memories of misty veils of rainbow light that hide beneath the clouds and Cleffa tells it of the reflections that shine most perfectly in the winter lakes, a loop of light and secrets and song as they dance under a shared sky.
It’s a night that was perfect for a star dance, made even more magical by the star who became Cleffa’s very first friend.
