Chapter Text
Marlene Mckinnon didn't know what love was. She thought she saw it in her parents, but the older she got the more messy she saw it become. She thought she saw it at Hogwarts, when James fell head over heels for Lily Evans, but that was unrequieted. She thought she saw it in her friednds, gushing over silly crushes and boys they thought were cute. But that love wasn't much of anything.
Marlene Mckinnon didn't know what love was. She didn't know because she saw girls in the hall and it felt right. She didn't know because she saw Dorcas in her uniform after Quidditch, smiling widely, and thought that this was what love must feel like. But she was a girl, and girls weren't allowed to love girls.
