did you just indirectly call me fat (bantana)

Summary:

banhammer sees katana at a pastry shop and uhhhh they fall asleep together

Work Text:

"That stupid teal twerp..." Banhammer mumbled to himself.

He had been chasing around Broker all day since he had escaped the prison this morning, to which he was caught, and then he escaped again. It was extremely annoying, considering those teal bitches were as slippery as sewer rats. But Banhammer could care less right here, right now. All he wanted was a nice piece of food and a quiet place to sit for a minute. Just because he was loud, quite honestly annoying, and boasted constantly, it doesn't mean he can't enjoy his silence like any other demon in the world.

He walked over to the pink parlor, one of his favourite pastry shops. Walking up to the counter, Banhammers eyes dusted over the multiple pastries in the display case. He was hungry but didn't really feel like eating too much. He settled for something simple, a quick little croissant. Not too filling but filling enough to where he would be satiated. He walked up to the counter and waited patiently for a waiter to serve him. It was unreasonably empty for this time in the day. If anything, it was a little bit freaky of how quiet it was.

Katana was always the quiet type, kept to himself often. He was sitting in the pink parlor for no reason in particular. He wanted the nice, comforting atmosphere of a cafe without going to Slingshots. His thoughts landed here, so he acted upon it. He didn't just want to stay home all day like anybody else. Plus, he wanted to try some new tea's they had. He had already drank a cup of tea and watched as people came and left, like waves on a beach. There was barely anybody left now. It was just him, the employees... and Banhammer.

There was no hatred, or anything of the like from Katana to Banhammer. In fact, it was quite the opposite between the two.

Katana had a silent admiration for Banhammer. He was very confident and loud, it was inspiring in a way. He never found himself attracted to anything of the like, so he wasn't quite sure he liked Banhammer. It wasn't just his personality, though. Banhammer had a very nice figure in Katana's opinion. He was always very.. pretty. Yeah, pretty. His eyes we're also beautiful. Even if one of them were blind, he found that the rest of his beautiful iris's made up for it.

Banhammer had the same odd admiration for Katana. He found himself interesting in how quiet he was. Almost as if he was hiding something. It was some curiosity behind it, but also interest behind how he could stay quiet for so long without spilling all his guts, like Banhammer did a lot. It was also the attraction to his features as well. Katana was quite fit for his age, and he always wore a very revealing robe that barely covered his chest. Banhammer had admired this confidence as well. He was never typically one to love his own body, so it was nice seeing somebody else enjoy theirs.

Katana hadn't noticed how long he was staring, but by the time he did realise, Banhammer had been served. He turned around to find Katanas mask facing him. Banhammer smiled. Now he had a chance to truly talk to Katana, other than something stupid like a bicker over their teams and such. Was it weird to want to talk to somebody this badly? Somebody who, surely, must hate you? It probably was. However, that wasn't the first thing on Banhammers mind in the moment. Katana was flooding his head

"Hello, Katana!" Banhammer called out, to which Katana froze. He completely forgot he was staring in the first place. There was no coming out of this one, that was sure to him. Internally processing the reaction, he just responded with what came first to mind.

"Oh, Banhammer... what a pleasure.." That sounded mean, didn't it? Banhammer couldn't tell, so he just sat down opposite to Katana. They engaged in a staring match of sorts for a little bit. The ugly, thick silence engulfed the air and could probably be cut with a butter knife from how thick it felt, wordless, actionless. Just the two, staring.

"So, what are you doing here?" Katana broke the silence. He didn't really care why Banhammer was here, nor would he say that to his face, but it was better than sitting here in empty silence.

"I haven't eaten all day, been chasin' a rouge criminal. Yknow' he escaped TWICE today. It's fukin' ridiculous, yknow that? Plus, who said I can't be here?" Banhammer ranted, rolling his eyes along with his words.

"Never said you can't, it's just... uncalled for." Katana sighed, placing his hand in his lap gently.

Eventually, a server came with Banhammers food. One sad, singular, croissant. Katana was a little bit confused. He expected Banhammer to have a loaded plate. Was it because of his figure? Definitely. Would Katana admit that was why? Hell no.

"Just one croissant?" Katana queried. Banhammer look at him before he was about to take a bite, furrowing his eyebrows. To him, it sounded like Katana was insulting him. Expecting him to eat more food or whatever.

"The hells that sposed to mean?" Banhammer spat, putting down his croissant back onto the plate. Katana swallowed a lump in his throat, having to make up something in the hopes of sparing Banhammers feelings.

"You said you haven't eaten all day, correct? Well, if that is so, then you should be very hungry, correct?" Katana internally sighed, glad he could get away with that. Or, at least he hoped he would. Banhammer still looked suspicious about it.

If he wasn't feeling insecure about his food, he most certainly was now. He hesitantly picked up his croissant, knowing Katana's eyes were on his. Katana averted eye contact and just looked off to the side. He knew he messed up, so he tried to make up for it by making Banhammer feel at least a little more comfortable.

Eventually, Banhammer finished his croissant. Didn't take very long, but it felt like forever to Katana. An eternity of just avoidance and thick silence is what it was.

"So why are you here?" Banhammer asked, making Katana turn his attention towards the warden again. The question was very unexpected, and he wondered why Banhammer needed to know. He had his reasons as to why he was at this cafe instead of Slingshots, but he wasn't about to tell Banhammer that. It would be dangerous.

"The cat cafe is much too crowded, additionally, they have my favourite pastries here. Stuff that Slingshot doesn't care to make. However, he needn't, as customers adore his confection's. That happens to not include me." He made up a fake explanation, something he did all too much recently.

"Catshots is good!!! You're jus' stupit," Banhammer joked. Katana let out a quiet chuckle and Banhammer let his face flush a little bit. He smiled warmly, but tried to hide it and keep his own composure. All Banhammer thought about was how he was such a FA

"guhhhrhrhrhrh, yknow' after this, I gotta go all the way back to Banlands. Do ya know how far that is? God danm it.." He mumbled like a child. It wasn't like he couldn't just catch a bus or drive there, but he was feeling whiney for whatever reason. Now Katana had to deal with the man child.

However, Katana wasn't complaining. It gave him the perfect opportunity to ask Banhammer for a night together. Not in a romantic way, of course. In a 'we're friends and totally not gay friends like fully straight friends, just homies!!' type way.

"Would you like to come to my home, perchance?" Katana asked politely. Silence. Ban hammer froze from it. He was in no way prepared for that, but there was no way he'd turn it down now. Especially since now he didn't have to go home.

"Why the hell not!" Banhammer boasted, standing up from his seat. Katana smiled from under the mask.

"I'll show you the way," he offered and put his hand out for Banhammer to take. Banhammer grinned and took it, in a bro way.

Katanas house was relatively close to the Pink Parlor, just another among his many reasons to go there instead of Slingshots. Katana opened the door, letting Banhammer in first as law of courtesy. He was a guest and would be treated as such in Katanas brain.

Banhammer walked in, adoring the view. Well-put together bookshelf and tv, couches and a coffee table, obviously, a window too. Banhammer leaned his weapon against the wall, and took off his armor, letting it rest there too. This left him in a black shirt and sweatpants. He moved over to the couch and took a seat with Katana following suit.

"Would you fancy a movie?" Katana asked, shuffling over a bit to grab the remote. Banhammer had no care for comedies, or romance, or both. He preferred his films to be action packed, not a moment without gunfire and artillery like a true American would love. He also liked movies of thriller and horror genres. Admittedly, he did get scared easily. But, he wanted to be seen as strong to Katana.

"Horror, if there's any," Banhammer said a little too proudly. Katana quirked a brow under his mask he still hadn't taken off. He shrugged, putting on a horror movie. The conjuring was the first thing that came to his mind so he followed through. Katana had watched the movie before and he enjoyed it, so it couldn't be that bad.

The movie started playing and the two watched throughout the night. Katana was enjoying it, the scares were always his favourite part of these things. Banhammer, however, was loosely hugging himself as a form of comfort. He was no pussy, but he had 0 tolerance to horror.

Katana noticed this, obviously, and shuffled a little closer to Banhammer. "Are you alright?" He asked, resting his head on Banhammers shoulder. Banhammer nodded quickly, trying to brush it off.

"I'm fine! Why do you ask?" He responded in a hurried fashion. Katana mumbled something quietly to himself, shuffling a little closer to Banhammer.

"Are you afraid? If so, there's no reason to act to skittish. It is not something shameful," Katana sympathized. Banhammer blushed a little but brushed it off. There was no way he was getting blushy over Katana being nice to him. It was odd, but not unwelcome.

"Maybe I should just sleep, it's been a hard day." Banhammer said, not fully sure that's what he wanted. Katana nodded his head, reaching for the remote to turn the movie off. He knew Banhammer was scared, but he still stayed silent about it. He didn't want to hurt his feelings.

"I'll be upstairs," Katana stood up from his seat on the couch. "You can have my bed if you don't fancy the idea of sleeping on the couch." He started walking towards the stairs. If it were up to him, the two would be sleeping together. No homo.

"I don't mind sleeping here, thanks." He smiled, "goodnight Katana."

"Goodnight to you too."

Midnight, what a time to be alive.

Katana had awoke for no reason in particular, maybe it was the undying thirst he had. It was almost as if he had cottonmouth. He was dying for that cold glass of midnight water. Running his tongue on the roof of his mouth, he swung his legs over the bed and stood up. He hoped Banhammer was still sleeping as his mask was off. He was quite unsure of how he felt when others saw his scar, so he kept it secret.

Walking down the stairs, Katana locked eyes with Banhammer on the couch. He was shivering and quivering like a wet dog. It wasn't even cold down here. Katana was sure Banhammer was acting childish but still continued to ask if he was okay. The water would unfortunately have to wait.

Katana silently tip-toed over to the couch, reaching out his arm to shake Banhammer awake. Banhammer let out a grunt and fluttered his eyes open, pointing all three at Katanas face. He jumped a little bit, unsure of where he was.

"My apologies, Banhammer. You looked as if you were cold. Would you prefer to have a blanket?" He whispered even though there was nobody else in the home. Banhammer didn't respond and just stared at Katanas face.

To Banhammer, Katana looked beautiful. He noticed the obvious scar on his face but that wasn't what he was focused on. Katana had gorgeous eyes that complimented his perfect horns. His hair was long and quite messy since he had just woken up, but pretty nonetheless.

"Banhammer?" Katana struck him out of his thoughts. Swinging his legs over the couch, Banhammer looked at Katana as if he were starstruck. He raised his hand to Katanas face and cupped it softly.

"You're beautiful," he stated. Katana blushed a little and realized his mask was off. He turned around and sighed.

"I asked if you fancied a blanket, not if you fancied me." He grumbled, but much liked the compliment he was given. Banhammer had stood up and went around Katana to see his face. Oh how badly he wanted to kiss it.

Katana didn't turn around but gave Banhammer a menacing glare. Obviously unphased, he inched closer to Katana. He wasn't quite sure what was possessing him to do this, but he did know he'd catch it and kill it afterward. But now's no time to think about future mistakes.

Banhammer inched their faces closer, intending to kiss Katana on his lips. Like a man, no homo.

However, Katana had beat him to that one. He softly put their lips together, letting each other sit like that for a little bit. A little while later and they had pulled away for air. Katana huffed and averted eye contact.

"Would you prefer to sleep with me instead?" He asked Banhammer, connecting eyes with him again. Banhammer smiled warmly with a yes, the same warmth as if Katana had proposed. They weren't sure what they were relationship wise, but they had sort of an idea. Friends with benefits.

It was unfortunate they had to save the kissing face part for tomorrow, it was still midnight, after all. In Katanas bed, the two started cuddling each other.

"Goodnight Katana,"

"Sleep well, Banhammer."

At least now Banhammer would get the warmth he craved.
