Blood

Summary:

"I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff."

Notes:

I'll give you two guesses what song this is inspired by, and you won't need the second one.

Work Text:

They told me to cooperate, and I did.

I stay at this hospital, drawing in my sketchbook. Junpei makes a comment about it, about how it’s all I seem to do. It shouldn’t matter to him, it’s not like he could understand any of my drawings.

But then he sees them, and he starts to panic. It’s not a big deal, I really can’t grasp why he would react that way. Why they all react that way.

I give Medea my blood. Likely adding up to gallons over the years. Yet she always wants more.

And so more I give.

Why do they all care so much? It’s my business. My blood. It’s almost alarming. I have nothing to do with them, and yet Junpei talks to me as if he’s known me for years. The one named Akihiko asks the nurses to make sure I’m comfortable. The quiet girl will sometimes just sit with me.

Why? I have nothing to give to them.

And then she comes to take all of the blood herself.

It was only a matter of time, I haven’t had access to the suppressants in days, and now she’s able to break free of my hold.

But just when my vision fades to black, and I know my time has come, I feel that familiar pill on my tongue. Shinjiro must’ve had some on him. It’s quite ironic, we were the ones who gave him his pills, and now he’s the one who saved me.

It’s confusing. He needed those pills too, and yet he used them on me. He runs out of the room, Akihiko on his tail. Junpei runs up to me to make sure I’m okay. I don’t know why, death isn’t something to fear, and I tell him as much. He almost seems to break down, telling me that he doesn’t want me to die. And so with a smile I tell him what I’ve been thinking ever since I met him.

“You’re so weird, Junpei!”
