Chapter 1
-*-
Headache. The first thing Eddie noticed was this terrible headache. A dull pounding against the top of his skull and a buzzing so strong that the vision in front of his eyes was blurred.
"For fucks sake" Eddie propped himself up on his elbows, trying to see where he was but only perceiving a blurred image. His body ached. He felt incredibly heavy and sluggish.
His body felt like it was on fire. When he tried to stand up, his legs immediately collapsed under him and he landed on his knees, supporting himself with his hands.
His head slumped downwards. A feeling of nausea swept through him and without even thinking about it, he threw up on the spot.
Trembling he pulled strands of hair out of his mouth and flung the strands backwards in disgust. Carefully, he straightened up and tried to remain standing on the spot.
The world around him spun and his stomach turned with it.
He stumbled forward and quickly realized that he had run into an obstacle. His hands gripped a ledge tightly and with a little joy Eddie realized that the roller coaster in his head was slowing down.
His vision wasn't clear, but it was obvious where he was. His trailer!
He was clinging to the kitchen counter and in front of him was the mattress on which he had just been lying miserably. He was at home, and in the right one. There were no tendrils on the walls, the air was clear and pure. As pure as it could be in a trailer.
He carefully lifted his shirt with one hand and felt his stomach.
He was bleeding profusely, deep cuts and bites covered his skin. "Shit!" Eddie hissed and quickly withdrew his hand. "I should be dead..." he looked around the trailer. No one was to be seen or heard.
With cautious steps, Eddie stepped out through the door.
It was night, the air was cool and pleasant. His legs burned like fire with every step. He didn't know exactly where he was going, he wanted to find the others... didn't he? He couldn't think straight. Everything was shrouded in a thick fog.
Dustin was the last person he had seen, he had the feeling he had to find him.
He didn't know how far he would get, especially with these injuries.
He also felt so incredibly hungry. However, it wasn't a normal feeling of hunger, he didn't have a stomach ache or growling.
It was more of a craving for food, he wanted to eat. He had to eat.
He didn't know where he was going, his body guided him through the forest and along roads and paths. His eyes were heavy and he felt tired and empty.

"Oh God Dave! Get Help!"
Eddie stopped. His head snapped back to the voice he had just heard. Far in the distance, he saw a light off the road.
"What the hell?" Before he knew it, Eddie was on his way down the road. As far as he could tell, the light was at least a couple of miles away.
"Dave! Help me! Help me!" a woman screamed.
Eddie pricked up his ears, he could hear her clearly. A cool breeze blew around his nose and a shuddering feeling ran through him. This feeling of emptiness that he carried inside him suddenly became a kind of happiness.
Eddie couldn't interpret it, but at that moment he generally had no idea what was going on inside him.
As much as Eddie should be worried about it, he didn't feel any sense of unease or think anything was strange. He was curious, it was almost exciting. Eddie got closer and closer to the scene.
An accident.
A car had overturned and was now lying on its roof in the ditch. The light he saw was a headlight and a small blazing flame on the underside of the car.
"Dave?!"
Eddie stopped. He tilted his head to the side and listened to the woman calling frantically for Dave. But there was no answer.
Eddie continued to walk towards the vehicle, circling it quietly and examining the wreckage in front of him. He walked further around the car and came to a halt on the passenger side.
"Dave? Thank god! Are you ok? Get me out of here" Eddie slowly crouched down.
The woman inside was crying, tears streaming down her bloodied face and into her hair.
She had her hands on the roof above her, trying to support herself somehow. Her eyes met Eddie's, who had tilted his head slightly to the side to get a better look at her.
She fell silent when she realized that she wasn't looking at her supposed boyfriend in the eyes.
"Please...help..." she whimpered.
Eddie's gaze was cool, he said nothing and just looked at her for a moment.
His gaze flitted briefly to the driver's side, but it was empty. He had probably been thrown out. He hadn't heard him on his way here.
Then his gaze slid back to the lady in front of him. He reached over the girl and released her from her harness.
Before she hit the ground, Eddie caught her and pulled her out into the street at the same moment. "th..thank you..." the girl began to stutter.
A dripping sound caught Eddie's attention again. It was a steady drip, like that of a tap that had sprung a leak.
"Shit... ouch," the girl grabbed her lower stomach with a pained expression. Eddie moved towards her, carefully pressing his hand on the wound.
The girl hissed but she let it go. She was in too much shock.
As the warm blood ran between Eddie's fingers, a sudden rushing sensation ran through him.
He took a few steps back and looked at his blood-red hand.
An iron scent caught his nose and a shiver ran down his spine. His jaw began to quiver and the feeling of hunger rose in him again. He was so damn hungry.
Trembling, he brought his hand to his mouth and stroked his lips with bloodstained fingers. His heart began to race and a pleasant tingling sensation spread through his mouth. He had never experienced anything like this.
Every fiber of his body screamed for more, he needed more.
He opened his eyes, his gaze clear and fixed on the girl in front of him. She stared at him, pure horror reflected on her face. Eddie moved towards her, approaching her like a predator, not taking his eyes off her.
He was breathing heavily, his jaw began to ache terribly and it made him furious. The smell of blood was heavy in the air and with every step he took closer, his instinct to eat grew stronger and stronger.
The girl had backed up to the wreckage, unable to run because of the shock.
Eddie grabbed her by the neck and pressed her against the car with all his body weight. His gaze focused on the pulsating carotid artery.
A desire he had never felt before took over his body and his mind.
"Please! Oh god please Noo!" the girl shrieked hysterically as Eddie sank his teeth into her neck.
-*-
It felt like an eternity before Eddie let go of her. The girl slumped lifelessly in front of him. Staggering, he took a few steps back.
Thick blood gushed out through his teeth and ran down his neck, catching in the collar of his torn shirt.
He carefully wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his leather jacket and looked at the blood running down his hand and dripping on the floor.
"What the fuck?" Eddie swallowed hard. He looked at the dead girl in front of him.
"Fuck..." his heart raced and he breathed heavily. He looked around with wide eyes.
Then he approached the girl again, tapping her gently with his shoe. Her head fell to one side and a nasty flesh wound stretched across her neck. In the window of the car, he looked at his bloodied face. With his eyebrows drawn together, he slowly brought his blood-soaked hand to his mouth.
Carefully, he put two fingers between his lips and lifted them to look at his teeth. They were wet with blood. Stunned, he realized that his teeth looked very normal.
With everything that had just happened, he had expected to find two pointed canines. "But how?" he asked himself, and just as he ran his fingers over the gums, he was overcome by that pleasurable shiver again. Eddie struggled to stifle his moans and keep his eyes open.
His eyes darkened and fine veins of blood appeared under his eyes and sharp fangs emerged. His jaw tightened and ached. That horrible hunger pang from earlier threatened to take him over.
He yanked his hand out of his mouth and stumbled backwards. Without looking back once, he turned and ran through the woods towards Hawkins.
