The envelope pulsed once.

Not glowing.
Not shining.

Just… alive.

Cal forced herself to breathe, sliding the window open, slowly. Just a tiny bit and the envelope of doom squeezed itself in.

“Okay,” she whispered shakily. “Sabay natin bubuksan.”

“B-Bakit sabay?”

“Para kung may—uh—something… at least… kasama kita.”

“That doesn’t make it better, Ate!”

But Caleb grabbed her hand anyway.

Together, they reached out.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“It’s been ages since the last time I’ve peaked at an interesting individual. Blimey, kid.” said the Sorting Hat. At this point Caleb Nicole has her eyes shut, afraid of the crowd in front of her as the Sorting Hat continues to babble some very important details of her life that she hasn’t even told anyone.

“That was cunning and cold, a perfect fit for Slytherin!” a memory flashed before Caleb’s eyes of her hitting a boy a little bit older than she was. “Atta, girl! Brave lil’ Gryffindor ain’t ya.” a new memory of her standing in front of Glaiza fending off the bullies in their school. “Ah you lad got a penchant for studying, Ravenclaw would be gobsmacked!!!” and a loud laughter erupted from the sorting hat. “Oh I see, I see, that lil’-o’-softie’-Hufflepuff!”

Caleb just continuously talked to the sorting hat thru her head to stop peaking at her memories because a lot of them and is starting to get annoyed until… “AHHHHHHH, SLYTHERIN!!!”

She jumped from the stool clutching her chest due to loud exclamation of the Sorting Hat and there she saw the table of Slytherin wherein the students clad in green uniforms erupting into loud cheers all the while her robe’s transforming to match them.

“Piskit! I don’t know what the fuck did just happen and why the kids at Gryffindor look annoyed but whatever. Bahala na.” Caleb thought to herself as she smirked at the crowd before her.
