Chapter Text
“So none of you are coming?” Subject 32 asked. She was standing in front of the closed door that lead into the laboratory hallway.
The other five subjects stood in a crowd in front of her in the moonlight-filled bedroom. Subject 34 was leaning against a metal bar on one of the five bunk beds.
“Look, I don’t know what you hear but I promise you, Father doesn’t mean any harm, okay? He needs us to help him improve the world.” Subject 30 replied.
Subject 32 had had enough. She had spent three days trying to convince them to escape with her but they refused to listen.
She turned to the door, silently opened it and stepped into the illuminated hallway without a parting word. The lights blinded her, she held up her arm to shield her eyes.
Once making sure that the corridors were deserted, she ran through and entered a dark, grey room with dim lighting. Subject 32 walked over to a silver tube, about six feet tall, with a glass door and entered it.
She dropped her bag and analysed the switches and numbers on the side of the machine. Running her fingers along the switches, she flicked one. It flicked down, then back up again to where it was. One of the numbers beside the switch had changed from an eight to a nine.
These numbers must be dates.
After flicking a few more switches, the little French girl lay her finger on a big silver button. She heard footsteps approaching the room and pushed the button.
The machine then transported her to the eighteenth of January 1985.
