Chapter Text
*sticker alarm rings*
"Seriously? It's too earlyyyyyy" Jisung whined when his alarm for school went off. It was the first day of school. He proceeded to stop the alarm and flopped back into bed, lying there for an additional 10 minutes before deciding that he should start getting ready for school. Jisung hates high school and the stress that comes with it. He thought high school was going to be fun with friends and new subjects but boy he was so wrong; early start times, long hours at school, endless piles of homework, tests and exams, short lunch break and having almost no friends.
As Jisung was contemplating about his depressing school life in the shower, he starts to think of dropping out before his mother told Jisung to hurry up, which he did by quickly doing the rest of his morning routine before putting on his uniform. Jisung sighed as he looked at his appearance; dark circles and eye bags forming due to the lack of sleep as well as his dishelved hair. This was only getting worse and he couldn't wait for graduation which was in a year. He walked outside the house before he just enters the bus on time. No turning back now. There is no giving up now.
Once Jisung arrived, he walked to his locker with his head down. He doesn't want to do this and he's too tired for math, which he already hates with a passion but even more when it's at the beginning on the day. Jisung grabbed his books and other necessary items before making his way to the subject of doom. When Jisung entered the classroom, he was greeted by an unfamiliar face. The face in question was a short, pale boy with chubby cheeks with dimples. "Hello we have a new student who is joining our math class" Mr Lee stated. "Hello my name is Zhong Chenle and I'm 16 years old.....I have an older brother named Renjun who is a senior and he also recently joined..." Chenle told the class.
Jisung was daydreaming. He thought the boy was so cute as he introduced himself. His voice higher pitched and dimples showing. Maybe this year won't be so boring afterall...he definitely has to befriend Chenle.
"You may now be seated" Mr Lee told Chenle before Chenle heads to the empty seat next to Jisung. Jisung's heart dropped. He's so cute...this was going to be an interesting year...
The bell rang which meant that Jisung has now has English...another class he despises so much. Jisung walked to his English class, thinking about when he was going to have his dance class because dance is the only subject Jisung looks foward to attending at school. When Jisung arrived, he sat at the back of the class again and proceeded to daydream about his dance class.
"Hello we have a new student joining our English class" Mr Suh stated. Jisung looked up and was greeted by the Zhong Chenle. Jisung went back to his daydream...
...
Once his English class ended, Jisung rushed straight to lunch, the only other time Jisung looked forward to at school besides his dance classes. Jisung sat at a tree, thinking about life when the cute boy approached him. "Hey I see you're alone" the boy says in his cute voice. "Hi...." Jisung shyly greeted. "What's your name?" Chenle asked. "I'm Jisung...Park Jisung..." Jisung answered. "How old are you?" Chenle asked again. "I'm 16 years old..." Jisung answered whilst looking down. "Nice, I just wanted to befriend you as you looked lonely in class," Chenle explained. "Thanks Chenle..." Jisung replied.
"Lele! I was looking for you!" an unfamilar boy shouted. "Don't worry, that's just my older brother Renjun" Chenle explained. Jisung nodded. "Who are you?" the boy named Renjun asked. "I'm Jisung...classmate of Chenle in Math and English.." Jisung replied. "Cool, do you dance?" Renjun asked. "Yes I do dance, why?" Jisung replied quiestioningly. "I have a classmate in math who I find really handsome and goes by the name Jeno. He told me about you and how shy you were yet very skilled in dancing and another good looking classmate named Jaemin said he's watched your junior class peformances" Renjun explained. "Oh....I know them...they are good looking....sometimes the junior and senior classes get joined together for certain performances" Jisung explained. "That's nice, do you have dance next?" Renjun asked. Jisung's eyes lit up. "Yes I do, why?" Jisung replied. "Your class is joining the seniors class today" Renjun explained. "Oh..." Jisung replied shyly. Jisung knows the senior class yet never talked to the students themselves despite getting praise from them. Jisung was extemely shy, only talking to Jaemin a few times because Jaemin complimented his footwork.
Jisung arrived to his dance class and was greeted by Jaemin hugging him. "Jisung! It's been a while!" Jaemin says in a friendly way. Jaemin was one of the only people Jisung talked to in his dance class. Jisung just nodded shyly. "No need to be shy, okay?" Jaemin reassured. Jisung just nodded again before heading to his junior class. "Hello so today we are joined with Mr Lee's senior dance class" Mr Kim stated to his junior class. "We are going to do our first pair dance between a senior and junior student that is going to be perfomed in 1 month...these performances will be assessed based on dynamics, technique, teamwork between you and your partner and stage prescence" Mr Kim explained. "How would the pairs be chosen?" Beomgyu asked. "I will pair you randomly" Mr Kim answered. The class sighed.
"The pairs are Jeno and Jisung, Jaemin and Seunghan, Shotaro and Wonbin, Soobin and Jay, and Hyunjin and Beomgyu" Mr Kim announced. Jisung sighed. He knows Jeno but he is way too shy to talk to him. In fact, Jisung is shy talking to the entire senior dance group. Even Jaemin. Jisung thinks that the senior dance group is intimidating because the batch consists of handsome boys. Jisung just walks to his partner and sighs again. "Hi Jisung...you okay?" Jeno asked. Jisung just nodded. "Do you want to choose the song or should I choose?" Jeno asked. "I want to dance to Baby Don't Stop..." Jisung answered shyly.
The pair started learning the choreography to Baby Don't Stop, with Jisung doing Ten's part and Jeno doing Taeyong's part. Jisung focused on his moves and just stared at his feet, too shy to look at the mirror because he's never done a pair dance, especially with a senior - a good looking senior. He's done solo performances and whole class dances but surprisingly never a pair dance despite the junior and senior classes being joined together quite often. The junior and senior classes often join to collaborate and do dramatic performances as a whole, rather than pair dances so this was a first for Jisung.
It was the end of class and Jisung was about to leave the room, only to be greeted by the pale dimpled boy. "How was dance?" Chenle asked. "It went well...I had to do a pair dance with Jeno..." Jisung answered.
"That's cool...I would love to watch it" Chenle replied. "You will, it's a performance" Jisung stated. "Anyway...speaking of performances, my vocal class is joining the senior class which means I get to see Renjun!" Chenle added. "Nice...Renjun seems very protective of you" Jisung stated. "He's my older brother so of course he is protective, why?" Chenle asked. "Just got intimated by him..." Jisung answered honestly. "Don't be, he may seem like that but he's actually soft" Chenle reassured.
Jisung smiles for the first time. Chenle smiled back, showing his cute dimples. Jisung's heart skipped a beat. This year was going to be interesting...
Once Jisung got back home, he laid in bed straight away and started to ruminate...
"Ji! Wake up! You need to eat!" His mum shouted. Jisung groaned as he got up and headed to the dining area. Jisung sat down and started to eat his dinner whilst staring at the wall in front of him. "How was school?" His mum asked. "It was okay..." Jisung replied. Jisung doesn't like talking about school so he just settles on eating his dinner quietly.
Once he has finished, Jisung went to his room to go to sleep again.
The next morning went as usual for Jisung: wake up late, shower, ruminate in the shower, skincare, getting changed, feel self conscious and barely making it to the bus.
Once Jisung arrived he was greeted by Chenle. Jisung couldn't help but smile. "What class do you have?" Chenle asked. "I have dance first lesson, and you?" Jisung answered. "I have a study period so can I watch your dance practice?" Chenle asked. "Yeah sure, the teachers are okay with it as long as they know you have a free period" Jisung answered. Chenle smiled his cute dimple smile. Jisung smiled back. Chenle is adorable.
They arrived at the dance studio and Chenle showed the teacher his schedule, who only nodded and told him to sit on the seats. Jisung went to the middle of the practice room, going over what moves he can remember from the other day, which was interrupted by Jeno gently tapping his shoulder. "You're a good dancer" Jeno complimented. Jisung smiled shyly and thanked him. "No need to be shy, okay?" Jeno told Jisung. Jisung just nodded. The senior dance group is seriously handsome and Jeno being his partner makes him feel intimated. Jeno is a strong dancer, with captivating performance skills and stage presence. He's very handsome and popular which also intimidated Jisung.
Jeno and Jisung practiced the choreography again whilst learning the new parts. Jisung was quiet as usual, trying his best and focusing on his parts but also because he's shy. Jeno doesn't comment on it.
It was now time for a water break and Jisung grabbed his water bottle and started to drink it. Meanwhile, Jeno ran a hand through his hair before drinking his water. Jisung couldn't help but watch. He's so handsome. Once they finished their water break, Chenle got up and hugged Jisung. "You're a really good dancer!" Chenle complimented. "Thanks..." Jisung replied. The conversation got interrupted when Jeno turned around, showing his face to Chenle for the first time. Chenle stared. Renjun was right. His classmate in math is very handsome. "Hi! I'm Zhong Chenle the new kid!" Chenle introduced himself, showing his dimpled smile. "I'm Lee Jeno" Jeno replied, showing his cute eye smile. "You're classmates with Renjun, right?" Chenle asked. "Yes I'm in his math class, why?" Jeno replied. "I'm his younger brother!" Chenle explained. "Ah that's cool" Jeno replied. Jisung's only smiled at the two. At least Chenle is friendly and brave enough to interact with the seniors. Jisung could never with his shyness.
The day went on, with homework piles piling up and quizzes to study for that is coming up in a week. Jisung sighed as he stared at his math work. This was really going to be an interesting year....
