- - - Present time / The Secret Base - - -
As Janet was still sleeping peacefully, Mephiles has been the one closest to her at all times, trying to keep her alive and making sure that she had a pulse, was able to respond to certain movements, and did some blood tests. He worked tirelessly day and night, refusing to eat, all for Janet! Her life was more important than anything else in his mind. Lula and Fang were watching from behind the scenes, Lula was also supporting Mephiles with some equipment changes and other tests, while Fang could sit there watching the person he loves fighting for her life.

He couldn’t sleep, couldn’t do anything but watch, all he could do was question everything that happened in these past few days… ‘ Was it real? Has Melodie lied to me? How did this happen? Why did it happen? I feel so crummy and yet I feel like I let her down. Sorry Janet, I wish I could have known the truth. ’ Ever since Janet has been released from Melodie’s basement, he has reported the news to everyone, and yes… even Fang. While everyone else already knew about what was going on, it took a whole toll on Fang. He took it the hardest. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, and when faced with the reality of what really happened, his eyes were wide in horror. He was shivering in fear, worry, and sadness was over taking him, he couldn’t believe it… he didn’t want to… But eventually he had to see it for himself.
Mephiles would always pull the curtains to keep them from seeing from time to time, Lula and Fang tried to ask why they couldn’t see, however He gave no answer, he just nodded and kept silent. So both of them had to wait until he was ready to tell them anything. A few more hours passed by, and Mephiles removed the curtains, and he gestured to them to come inside. Fang and Lula were making their way but just before they were about to enter he covered the doorway and spoke,
“ Before you head inside, Janet has made partial recovery. However! She is still a bit weak, and her body might take a while to recover… so Fang as much as you would want to embrace her, now it would be best not to do so. My love, I know I kept silent, I wanted Janet to be present to hear the news, and as to what happened in these past three days. You may come inside. ”
As they opened the door, they were greeted with a tired and weak Janet. She is wearing a pair of shades to cover herself from the light, she almost has ghost-like pale skin due to malnutrition and has slow movement when trying to do anything. Janet weakly smiled and said, “h---hello.” Both Lula and Fang were very happy to see her alive and smiling again.
Lula started to cry of joy, “Oh Darling! You had me worried for days! I thought I lost you! You are my most precious jewel of all the jewels I have!” And Fang also began to shed tears and he fell to the ground on his knees saying, “I–I’m Sorry! I am very sorry! I didn't know this was happening with you! P-Please forgive me! I wish I was with you! I should have been with you! Forgive me!” Tears fell on Fang’s face, for he was devastated! As both of them were crying, one in joy and the other in sadness… Janet softly spoke. “I--It’s ok Fang… no need to cry… I may not know what happened…… b--but we are in this together.”
Janet weakly placed her hand out, as Fang gently grasped her hand, Janet also began to tear up in joy for she is reunited with the one she loves. Watching this moment, Mephiles, who was standing in the corner, also shed a tear. In his thoughts, ‘ A tear…? How…? I guess this reminds me of… yeah it is. I won’t make that mistake. Not again! ’ So he wiped his one tear and said, “ Very well, it’s time for both of you to get going. I will remain with Janet for the time being. ” Lula worriedly said, “Honey, you have worked hard and tirelessly, even, you need some rest. We can watch over her.” However he said, “ Not yet. I still have some test to do before she has made a full recovery, and for that I need you both out. Once her recovery improves then you will be with her, for now trust me when I say this. The test’s that I run won’t be a pretty sight. ” Finishing his statement, both of them left, even though they didn’t want to, but because Janet was in the room, it’s best to take his word.
Janet alone asked, “what will y--you do to me?” Mephiles said, “ I will explain everything to you, when you are at one hundred. For now, sleep… ” As he said that he used some of his power to put her to sleep.
After what felt like eternity, Janet slowly woke up once again… but this time it felt different, she felt full of energy, she was stronger, better, faster! She got up from
her room and noticed on the scale model that her strength really came back to her, and to test this she jumped up and down, jogging in place, and sure enough… her strength was back! Her skin was glistening and was back to a normal healthy color, and she noticed something about the scale, something about her blood sample, she couldn’t see because it was covered up by another scale model, and she didn’t know what it was, but all she could do was ask later.
As she is making her way out of the room, Lula, Fang, Amber and Buster have been sitting on the table drinking coffee and tea. The four of them saw Janet out her room and all of them ran up to her and embraced her in a big hug, shouting— “JANET! YOUR BACK!” (Hey…No need to interrupt the writer.) “Shut it, let us enjoy this moment!” Any who, as they were all together reunited with their friend, Janet cheerfully said, “It’s nice to see you all again, I really thought I was a goner for a moment. Wait! What’s going on? Where’s Melodie? Wha–” Lula interrupted her, “relax darling, I know you have a lot on your mind, but please, just relax and enjoy some coffee or tea with us, we will explain everything to the best of our ability.” Slowly calming herself with this, she reluctantly agreed and sat down on the table. Janet sat down next to Fang feeling relieved to see him again, yet she was still a bit confused about everything.
