Work Text:

"So, out of all the festivities they could've had tonight... They chose a comedy show." Ada laughed, "Now that in itself, is comedic."

She steps down the stairs, ahead of Leon trying to catch up behind her.

"I thought you liked comedy." He smiled.

She stops at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at him. "They're alright. Until you hear them often enough that all the jokes start to sound the same."

He caught up to her, reaching out his hand to hold hers. She took it with no mind and continued walking. "Ah, that's right. Example, once upon a time ago people saying 'why did the chicken cross the road' was actually funny. Now, everyone knows the answer."

"Sounds like you have a big opinion on this. What about a good ol' knock knock joke?"

"Knock knock." She raises an eyebrow.

"Who's there?"

"The sun." She hummed, looking in front of them to the sun peaking from behind the clouds. The sky painted a hue of pink and orange.

It's surreal, being on a cruise, so far away from shore. Leon had almost forgotten where they were. There's a blast of club music that can be heard from where they're standing. Somehow, it doesn't fit the scenery they're looking at. What looks like hundreds of people crowd around in the pool as well, screaming and chattering filling the air.

"Maybe I do like comedy." She drags him along, still heading to the entertainment center.

"Seems you have some jokes of your own." He chuckled, picking up his pace again to walk with her.

...

Leon looks around, trying to find an open seat. There's some wacky music playing idol as people wait for the show to actually start. He spots them, two seats near a wall. Guiding Ada along with his hand, he seats her on the side closer to the wall.

Ada plays at the straps of her purse, soon opening it and grabbing a portable fan from it's contents. She turned it on full blast, closing her eyes and letting it cool her off. Leon couldn't help but chuckle. It reminded him so much of something a cat would do.

"You're funny."

"You seem to be more entertained by me this evening. You know, I could do that much better back in the room." Ada purred.

He cleared his throat. "How about for now you continue to tell me jokes while we wait?"

Conveniently, the music stopped and a man with short ginger hair wearing a suit walks up onto stage. He introduces himself, and swiftly transitions that into a joke. Saying how the children in his neighborhood would make fun of his name.

It makes Leon crack a smile, while Ada stares with a blank face. She looks around the room, the crowd forcefully laughing at un-funny jokes. Looking over to Leon, he has a complete smile on his face, teeth and all. Seriously, she doesn't get it.

Ada pays attention a little more, hearing the man tell a joke about his mother cooking strange food for him when he was younger. The crowd, as well as Leon laugh a little too hard over that. She looked at him, not even bothering to turn her head.

...

An hour and a half... Of purely unfunny jokes. Ada was happy to get out of there, it was getting more stuffed by the minute. Her fan also had run out of battery. Leon, on the other hand had an amazing time. He enjoyed the jokes, laughing and nodding along with each one. Now, they decided to head back to their room for the night, and order room-service.

"What joke was your favorite?" Leon asked.

"The one where he introduced his name was humorous."

"Really? I didn't see you crack a smile even at that one."

"I don't have to smile for something to be funny." She stared at him, looking into his eyes. Ada managed to keep a straight face, until her lips slowly upturned into a smile, flashing her teeth.

Leon did that, make her smile. Genuine smiles, laughter that was something special. He's grown to be able to tell when her laugh is genuine or not. There's a difference, a sweet one.

They made it up the stairs, it being surprisingly easier to go up than down. He let go of her hand to grab the keycard from his pocket, touching it to the door and hearing the click telling him it unlocked.

When they entered, Leon immediately flopped himself down onto the bed, making everything on the bed bounce with it.

"Careful, you'll break it." Ada teased, setting down her bag onto the nightstand. She walked over to the bed, gently laying herself onto it.

"Wanna check out the pool tomorrow?" He asked, turning onto his side to rest his hand on her hip.

She also turned onto her side, looking at him. "Hmm... We could." Ada closed her eyes.

He stayed silent for a few heartbeats after that.
"...Still gonna entertain me?" He smiled, pressing kisses on her cheek and traveling down her neck.

She giggled, putting her hands on his head. Perhaps she will have to now.

Notes:

Surprise, surprise! I have another story for this week. I decided to just make another story, rather than adding another chapter to the last one T-T I'm a little unorganized this week I apologize. I think this will be the last I write for this week. I've been enjoying it so much though. Thank you velo for hosting!
