Tony and Stephen are having an evening drink—coffee for Tony, tea for Stephen—in one of the sitting rooms when a small sound catches Tony’s ear. “What was that?”
“Nothing,” Stephen says quickly. Too quickly.
Tony narrows his eyes. “I’m sure I heard something.”
“You’re—”
Stephen is interrupted by a very audible, very distinct miaow. His aggrieved expression is only made more hilarious by the fact that the cat then jumps up into his lap and starts kneading.
Tony cracks up. “You gave in! Weeks of swearing up and down that you were never letting an animal into the Sanctum and you gave in!”
“Tony—”
“‘I can’t afford to be distracted,’ you said. ‘Interruptions could be dangerous,’ you said.” Actual tears of mirth are welling up in Tony’s eyes.
Stephen sighs deeply. “You’re not any better at resisting Peter, and he had America helping.”
Tony gulps down a couple lungfuls of air, trying to settle his laughing fit. “What did they name him?” Tony nods at the cat, because last he heard Peter and America were holding out until the cat was officially settled in a home before choosing.
Stephen’s expression somehow becomes even more pained. “Megatron.”
Tony cracks up again.
