Notes:

Hi... I'm back? Lol

This is really short because I've been wanting to write them for so long, and I find them so endearing in situations like these. I just love them so much <3

Happy reading! Please enjoy and leave nice comments :)

Work Text:

Lu Guang lies on the bed and checks his wrist watch. 2:17 AM.

Their friend group is currently having a little celebration since their school year has finished already. It has been one hell of a year for all of them, so they do deserve this refreshing outing they’re all in as of now.

Qiao Ling was the one who booked their stay at a hotel out of town, with the help of Xu Shanshan, of course. Not too pricey, but it does have a pretty pool, nice view from, and a comfortable room. No complaints from anyone, and they could care less about that aspect. Even if they had to pay their whole life to take a break, they would.

They had strolled the entire morning walking around, taking pictures, and eating. Afternoon was usually their session to have a dip in the water, whether it be the pool or the beach. Nevertheless, Cheng Xiaoshi always initiates doing childish water competitions like who holds their breath the longest, or racing, or hide and seek (which is impossible).

And then at night, they would walk around again around the night market, buy whatever, eat, and gossip about the best tea going around the university (this is their favorite part).

Of course, with all those that happened in just a single day, Lu Guang’s social battery is close to empty. Cheng Xiaoshi is still in the bathroom, so Lu Guang has some quiet time to himself, especially since he’s going to share a bed with his beloved boyfriend. He turns to one side, eyelids becoming heavier every time he blinks. If you look at it, it’s the perfect time and place to sleep. The bed’s big, they have 2 pillows each (one for the head and the other to hug), the room is not too cold but cold enough to sleep peacefully, and he’s exhausted.

The only problem? Lu Guang’s not used to sleeping if it’s not his own bed.

Call him dramatic or whatever, but it’s been a thing for him. He either lies down the whole time, awake but tired, or he uses his already drained energy for something else – like walking around or doing schoolwork, which is not an option for today.

He doesn’t know how long he’s been lying there awake, but the sound of the bathroom door opening tells him that he’s supposed to be sleeping already. Even before Cheng Xiaoshi entered the bathroom, he was in his sleeping clothes, tucked in, and tired enough to sleep. But he can’t!

This is infuriating. He just wants to sleep, since they have more activities to do tomorrow as a group.

Do I just go out to the balcony and watch the sun rise later?

Maybe I should just walk every storey of this hotel. (The hotel has 15 floors)

Lu Guang sighs.

“You’re still up?”

Cheng Xiaoshi’s voice breaks him from his cloud of thoughts. The brunette is all dry, wearing his pajamas that Lu Guang gifted him, all ready for bed.

“Yeah,” is all Lu Guang could reply. He feels the other side of the bed sink a little, meaning Cheng Xiaoshi’s in bed with him already.

Cheng Xiaoshi plugs in his phone to charge, and gets under the covers to sleep. The fact that there’s an extra pillow to hug means he would use it, hugging it tightly as he drifts into a slumber. He’s asleep in an instant, compared to Lu Guang who’s been trying his best to close his eyes for more than a minute.

He does wonder how Cheng Xiaoshi does it. Able to sleep anywhere and everywhere in a blink of an eye. Let it be a chair, a table, the university’s rooftop… maybe even the bathroom while he’s doing his business. Just how does he do it?Lu Guang thinks.

It’s quiet in the room. The two of them have their backs against each other, so all Lu Guang could hear is the soft snore coming from his boyfriend, and the sound of the AC. He tosses to his other side, facing Cheng Xiaoshi’s back this time. It’s broad, more muscular compared to before, but also soft and comforting once you hug it. Lu Guang smiles to himself, remembering the times where Cheng Xiaoshi would work out in their dorm while reading a book in front of him. He would even sometimes ask Lu Guang to sit or lie on his back when he does push ups, to which Lu Guang declines because ‘his back is sweaty’. But looking at it now, he does want to get close to that back, snuggle it, and kiss it. He doesn’t want to wake the sleeping raven, though.

Lu Guang sighs. He tosses again to the other side, and stares at the chair now. Nothing interesting.

Maybe I should sleep there instead.

I couldn’t even sleep on a bed, what more can a chair do?

Lu Guang groans softly and tosses, this time facing the ceiling. It does nothing, but Lu Guang is pissed at it. Well, no. He’s pissed because he just wants some sleep!

He sits up, tries it for about 10 seconds, and lies back down. He drags his hands across his face, frustrated that he just wants to rest.

“Hey,” the covers shift a bit, “why are you picking a fight with the bed?”

Cheng Xiaoshi faces him, eyes slightly open just to see Lu Guang’s situation. The silver haired boy takes a deep breath and rubs his eyes.

“Can’t sleep,”

There’s a short silence before Cheng Xiaoshi removes the pillows between them, and he scoots closer to Lu Guang in the process.

“What are you–” before Lu Guang could finish, he feels a strong arm by his waist pull him. Next thing he knows, his face is right in front of Cheng Xiaoshi’s.

“You’ll sleep better like this,” Cheng Xiaoshi says.

“...How do you know that,”

“It worked before, so it’ll work again,”

Lu Guang tries to wiggle free from his boyfriend’s grasp, only causing the other to hold him tighter.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Cheng Xiaoshi is looking him straight in the eye when he says that.

“I…” Lu Guang didn’t even start his sentence, but Cheng Xiaoshi already finished him with a kiss on the lips. Lu Guang went red in an instant, hurriedly burying his face in the crook of Cheng Xiaoshi’s neck. He feels the brunette softly laugh.

“Works like a charm. Now sleep, baobei,”

Lu Guang lifts his head slightly. “...One more, please,”

Cheng Xiaoshi laughs teasingly. “Alright. Where?”

It takes everything for Lu Guang not to kick him, because damn, Cheng Xiaoshi knows his way around him so much. So Lu Guang decides to do it himself.

He moves up and softly grabs Cheng Xiaoshi’s neck, and presses their lips against each other. This time, the kiss was longer, deeper. Just what Lu Guang needed. He feels the other’s hands caress his waist, to which his body flinches in response. That is one of his sensitive spots.

They break apart after a while, and Lu Guang snuggles at Cheng Xiaoshi’s neck once more. This time he was able to close his eyes for more than a second, which turned into minutes. Cheng Xiaoshi chuckles at the sight, relieved that he finally managed to make his precious boyfriend sleep. He kisses the crown of Lu Guang’s head before drifting into his own slumber again, this time, his boyfriend in his arms. Lu Guang may not be able to sleep in a different bed, but he always sleeps comfortably in his boyfriend’s warm embrace, wherever it may be.
