He just wanted his attention

Summary:

Taro’s ultra horns got bigger all of a sudden, causing him great discomfort but also a new power he has to learn to control. Mebius was tasked with Taro’s care while he went thru this process, but Taro didn’t want Mebius there for a reason he couldn’t articulate, so it was ignored. But Mebius still wants to figure out why.

Notes:

This is given to all of you today, by my love of uneven power dynamics, age gaps and all the mileage my brain can muster from the phrase, and I quote “I trained hard to be recognized by Instructor Taro”

Chapter Text

Mebius closed the door behind him at Taro’s house. This was a weird situation to have, for sure, but he was perplexed on how everything happened. This was just everything, a grand coincidence. A big big big coincidence. How this is happening.

Taro went into the break room of the instructors in the Intergalactic Defense Force, trying to find something to drink. He was obviously in pain, but he was reflecting all questions about it. Soon enough though, Taro did collapse to the floor. He was still conscious and was still refusing help. Mebius did figure out what was happening and tried to get him to the hospital but he refused to go with him. Especially him. Mebius felt a bit hurt, but he was more worried about his health.

Eventually, Mebius did get him at the hospital. Nobody knew why he was in so much pain. There’s barely any literature about his symptoms so they have to call Mother of Ultra. One look at her son, some careful poking at his Ultra Horns, and then she had a verdict: His horns are growing once again.

Eh?

They never stop growing! Sometimes they do that slowly, sometimes they do that a lot at once. Since ultras live for an absurdly long time, Taro’s horns might get bigger. Might? Well, there’s not much literature about it, as you could surmise. There’s barely 3 Ultras alive in the Land of Light with horns and the 3 of them react differently to their growing horns. Mother of Ultra current theory is that some more specific power related to his horns is awakening in Taro. But we will never know until he figures it out by himself.

The plan is going to be as follows: She was going to ask Father of Ultra about these symptoms to know if he had once, before meeting him, the same and maybe what happened after that, and Mebius was going to monitor Taro for at least a week.

And that’s why Mebius was closing the door at Taro’s. Taro did complain a lot about Mebius going with him, but he was in so much pain that he really couldn’t explain why he was opposed. And since he was the patient, he was promptly ignored. Mebius was still a tiny bit hurt though. He wants to know why.

After a couple of painkillers, a ton of water and a nap, Taro was way more understandable. Mebius was getting a bunch of measurements the hospital asked, but at the same time he noticed that Taro was more relaxed, even, how do you say it? resigned? To his fate? What fate?

-It’s not just the horns growing, right? - Mebius asked

-It’s just the horns growing - Taro answered, between tired and annoyed - My mother told you, I think I’m getting a new power, but I cannot control it

-But what does this have to do with the horns?

-Ultra Horns are energy receptors, roughly - Taro tried to explain - They get more sensible the bigger they are, so I’m trying to get used to this new energy I’m feeling. It’s not working, and you are not helping.

Why is Mebius not helping? How, how?

Mebius tried to be offended at that remark, but he actually got really scared. He wasn’t clear about what “new energy” meant in this context, but he was fearing it was. You know. His feelings.

That precocious crush he had around the time he got accepted at the Academy of the Intergalactic Defense Force. To his instructor. Mind you, it is very normal for a kid to have this kind of crushes, the issue for Mebius was those feelings were fluttering back from time to time. He was ashamed about it. But at the same time he couldn’t help it. His efforts to become closer to him paid off, to the point he was appointed to train his own son, but also he was making efforts to keep his distance. Keep it professional, they were teacher and student and now boss and subordinate. Any weird one sided feelings he has must be kept as a secret, from everyone in the universe.

But the one person who 100% must not figure out, he apparently did.

Oh no.

-What are you thinking? - Taro cut Mebius train of thought right there, getting him a bit extra scared

Saying “Nothing” was the first thing that came out of Mebius' mind by hearing that question, but soon he could come up with a more appropriate response - What kind of energy are we talking about?

-I don’t know - Taro was really frustrated, and trying to shuffle away from Mebius. It was a bit awkward because both were sitting in the sofa at his house’s living room and neither of them realized until now they were, you know, kinda close - I’m just feeling things and I cannot filter what I’m feeling, and this is because they got a tiny bit bigger and refined a power they give

-Refined?

Now it was Taro’s moment to feel stressed, as he just gave away that it wasn’t technically a power he didn’t have before, but something that got better suddenly. Taro was aware that there isn't a lot of literature about the powers of the Ultra Horns, in part to keep the powers of his family a secret, but that didn’t mean Mebius didn’t know about a couple of those powers. At least the most famous ones. And he didn’t know if Mebius knew about the powers he can barely use. He did tell his mother about them, obviously, but he couldn’t tell her about what power it was the one which got refined today. Because it has to explain what he saw. He didn’t want to explain what he saw

-Then it's a better version of a power you had before - Mebius deduced exactly what Taro was afraid he would deduce. I mean, it was pretty obvious, but still - If I call to the hospital we might find something with your records

Mebius was really happy he finally had something else to do besides being too close for comfort with Taro, trying to get measurements of his vitals and trying to keep his feelings and his hands in check. Keeping Taro comfortable was the most important thing right now, and him wrestling with forbidden feelings in his head the entire time was getting bothersome. Something else to do. That’s all that he…

-Mebius, I… - Taro tried to stop him - I had a vision. Of the future. About you.

This is not something he was expecting. It wasn’t that he couldn’t explain in the hospital what was happening because of the pain. It was that he didn't want to say it. But why? To protect him? It’s the most probable explanation. But at the same time it didn’t make sense. If he wanted to protect him from something, he would say it. Unless… it wasn’t about protecting him, exactly.

-What did you see?

-I was there… and we were… ah… - how do you say it, how do you say it, how do you say it, how do you say it - having sex

-Ah?

-I was r…

-Do not say that word

-But that was what it was! - Taro was worried he was going to do something unthinkable, and most of his annoyance this afternoon was around that. He didn’t want Mebius near him specifically to protect him. From him. - I will, somehow, find a way to coerce you into having sex with me! That’s the only explanation!

-That’s impossible -that was Mebius’ first thought

-How do you know that?!

-We have known each other for a very long time - Mebius was a firm believer of these words - If you were as terrible as you seem to think you are, you had plenty of opportunities before. What is it different now?

Mebius has a point. This is not the 1st time his horns got bigger all of a sudden and he needed a leave to rest. It wasn’t either the 1st time he was alone with Mebius in a situation which could easily devolve into something abusive. And it wasn’t either the 1st time both things happened at the same time, even if Mebius didn’t know it. During all those situations it was easy to keep it to himself. As he should.

Maybe it was those feelings awakening recently.

No, no, no, no way, he will not even acknowledge those. He has known Mebius since he was very little and the power imbalance between the two was too much.

But how do you explain his vision then?

-I don’t know - was the answer Taro arrived at - I just know this is my first vision that I truly understand it's going to happen and I have to do something to stop it from becoming true. But I don’t have much context about it, so I assumed I will… - Taro shaked his head trying to not think about it or being able to find the words

Mebius was looking at Taro, trying to find an explanation which absolved him of any wrongdoing. He found it kind of adorable, but at the same time very him. He was the kind of person who, missing any other viable solution, would sacrifice himself. To buy time, to save others' lives, to give others a new chance. Sadly, this wasn’t helping with his feelings. This was exactly the kind of behavior he loved about him.

Feelings weren’t clean though. Every single time he heard about him going on a mission, he always got a bit scared. Who knows if he was going to survive, and he was always ready to go on a mission to pick him up if needed.

Maybe, he should do that now.

-Instructor Taro, I thank you for being so worried about me, but - Mebius sat back on the sofa next to him, trying to reach for his hand - You need to, also consider, I’m…

Taro didn’t let him finish whatever he was trying to tell him, as he noticed what Mebius was trying to do, and grabbed him from the right hand wrist, twisting his arm slightly. It did hurt. A tiny bit.

-I’m not that old I cannot still beat you - Taro warned him with a slightly disappointed tone

-It’s not - Mebius was trying to explain, but the pain and the closeness the two were suddenly having was very distracting - what I’m trying to say

-Then what is it? - Taro replied, grabbing Mebius’ wrist even harder, in a way that actually hurt. Mebius was confused about what was happening, as his wrist did hurt, but his brain wasn’t detecting it as something bad. His breathing was becoming heavier, but he was still conscious enough to suppress any vocalizations he might do but that also meant he couldn’t answer the question.

Taro was getting impatient, as Mebius was staying there, like daring him to continue. It took him a moment to realize what was happening. He just discovered something about his best student he should have never figured out. He let him go, letting him rest his arm.

-Are you ok?

-I am

-Did you… - Would Taro dare to ask him? It was something that was running in his mind faster than any other thought recently, and his heart was beating faster and faster because of how nervous he was. Mebius noticed and tried to reach, but Taro just grabbed his wrist once again, this time without much force, and did dare to ask - Did you like it when I did this?

Mebius couldn’t really find any actual words he could probably use. At least not any word that Taro would actually like to hear. He just had the truth. Which was messy.

-I… don’t… know…?? It was… exciting… I guess???

-I will not get mad, I swear I will not! - Taro was desperate to get a direct answer from Mebius, but he couldn’t find another way - Just a yes and no question

-Ok

-Are you turn on?

-Yes

-Oh - Taro was disappointed instead - so do I

Taro was ashamed, but also very… concerned to say the least. He should leave. But he wasn’t. He was glued to where he was, because he was confused. Mebius meanwhile, just realized something

-Did I…

-Mebius! - Taro did get mad at that one suggestion - Do not push your luck!

-I did! I did seduce you! - Mebius didn’t really care about pushing anything. The luck was already thrown - Inadvertently, but I did

-Mebius, please…

-Is this not the best outcome for your vision? - Mebius seriously suggested - That it’s… consensual?

-The best outcome for my vision is not happening

-I don’t know sir - Mebius said, like trying to fill out space, while moving his hand next to Taro’s. Taro retreated it next to his chest, but Mebius anyway decided to grab it. Taro couldn’t do a single thing, because he knew what would happen if he did. Mebius caressed Taro’s fingers, slowly, in soft circular motions, one by one. Touching and feeling those calluses created by years of fighting, that little marks of hard skin on his palm because he hold a fist too strongly

Taro was letting him do this exploration, as he didn’t know what else to do. Mebius was egging him to become forceful, but what would happen if he did. He didn’t want to step over a line, but this was becoming more and more difficult, as Mebius was basically daring him to do it

-One shred of power over me, and you are using it - Taro commented, somewhat disappointed, with low energy, somewhat passive, looking at how Mebius was exploring his hand

-Oh no sir, I don’t want any power over you - Mebius explained, also passive, also low energy, but with a different tone, like saying he was actually expecting something to happen - What I want is for you to use your power over me

Taro leaped forward, grabbing Mebius by his shoulders and trying to tower over him by standing up and having one leg kneeling on the sofa. He wanted to be as intimidating as possible. As scary as possible. There's a reason.

-MEBIUS! - he yelled on Mebius’ face, trying his hardest to intimidate him - If you say No NOW, I’ll stop. Nothing will happen, nothing will be said and both would go our ways back to how it was before! You just need to say “NO”!

Mebius stayed quiet. He was startled, yes. A bit scared, also yes. But he wanted him to continue.

-Fine - Taro finally conceded.

He hardened his grip on Mebius to keep him in place, and moved even closer, to tower over him, even more. This was strange, as the illumination was becoming dimmer somehow, and Taro’s horns were emanating a glow Mebius had never seen before. He had his eyes glued to the glow, which was becoming brighter, while everything around them was becoming darker, so dark that suddenly the only thing he could see were the dimmer lights of Taro’s eyes, and the crackling glow from his horns.

A beam of energy came directly from Taro’s horns to Mebius’ color timer, and it was so different to any beam he knew about. Mebius has received the power of his beloved 6 Ultra Brothers before, but this one energy wasn’t the same. It clenched his muscles while building in a moment a fire inside him, only to release in a wave of pleasure which confused his muscles enough, to spam uncontrollable while his back arched to accommodate one single soft moan. One barely audible, which was too loud for both of them.

Mebius eventually relaxed, exhausted and tired, while Taro was slowly accommodating him on the sofa. Taro’s heart would barely contain his happiness. He somehow had him, blissfully tired, too numb to feel anything else but the leftovers of the orgasm he just gave him, too content to move. He was overwhelmed looking at how beautiful his pupil is.

Taro hugged him strongly, placing his face in Mebius’ neck, in a bout of cute aggression which almost made him cry. Mebius got surprised, but relieved in a way. He could hear Taro’s muffled words vibrating on his skin, while feeling his weight on him. Too tired to move, but too happy to care.
