but baby i’m first in place (look at you)

Summary:

He coughed, “I’m here, Your Highness.”

Xie Lian sat down beside him, pure white robes fluttered as he sat. “What’s wrong?”

Feng Xin sighed, pulling his knees to his chest, before burying his face in his arms. “It’s nothing.”

Xie Lian placed a hand on his shoulder, “don’t lie to me A-Xin, I’ve known you for eight hundred years, I know when you lie to me.”

The old nickname shocked him, he hadn’t been called that since they were young. “It’s just bullshit, Dianxia.”

Chapter 1: tell your baby, that i’m your baby

Chapter Text

Feng Xin and Mu Qing often stayed in Puqi Shrine while Xie Lian was away, they didn’t mind, they rather enjoyed it more than they’d admit.

The curtain that covered the entrance opened, Feng Xin and Mu Qing both looked up to see Hua Cheng.

“Gege?” Hua Cheng called, he saw the two men standing in a corner, “oh. It’s just you two.”

Feng Xin clenched his jaw while Mu Qing simply rolled his eyes.

“Why are you here?” He asked, crossing his arms.

Hua Cheng sighed, “His Highness is usually here, thought I’d swing by to see him.” He said, “something wrong with that?”

Mu Qing stared at him for a moment, before shrugging. “I guess not.”

Feng Xin on the other hand, while he didn’t press further, seemed a bit more agitated about Hua Cheng’s presence.

“Fine. Just don’t break anything.”

He smiled, “why would I do anything like that?”

——

After around an hour and a half, Feng Xin couldn’t take it anymore.

Mu Qing had decided to leave around thirty minutes ago, to the market to buy food for him and Feng Xin.

“I fucking hate you.”

That surprised Hua Cheng.

Hua Cheng coughed, “what?”

“You heard me.”

“I did.” He responded, “and?”

Feng Xin snapped. “I fucking hate you. I hate how you think you’re better than me or Mu Qing just because His Highness is in love with you!”

Hua Cheng’s eye widened, “I—”

”Shut the fuck up!” Feng Xin screamed, “You think you know everything about him but you don’t! You don’t know a single fucking thing about him! You think you’re better than us? WELL GUESS WHAT?” He spat.

Hua Cheng was at a loss for words, only staring at Feng Xin with a blank expression.

“He loved me first!”

That shocked Hua Cheng to his core. Xie Lian never mentioned that.

“You don’t know shit about Dianxia! You weren’t there at his lowest! You weren’t there when his parents fucking killed themselves! YOU WEREN’T THERE YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!”

Feng Xin lunged at him, “fuck you! FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU!!” Hua Cheng simply stepped to the side, watched Feng Xin drop to the floor on his knees in tears.

He actually felt bad.

He sniffled, swiping harshly at his eyes, glancing up at Hua Cheng.

“It's so pathetic.” He said, voice hoarse, “I loved him for eight hundred years, only for you to come along.”

Hua Cheng swallowed, “I’m sorry.”

“Sure you are.” He stood, “get out.”

“This isn’t your shrine.”

“It isn’t yours either.”

“I don’t care. Get the fuck out.”

“Or else what?”

Feng Xin clenched his jaw, picking up his things off the ground. “Fine. Fine! Do whatever the fuck you want!” He sighed, “just don’t break anything.”

Hua Cheng stared as he walked out of the shrine.

“I’m sorry.” He repeated, he wasn’t, but he did feel bad.

Feng Xin simply nodded, walking out.
