Work Text:
Being condemned to Hell, at first, was a spear in the heart for both Lilith and Lucifer. Banished from the eyes of Heaven as the Seraphim cursed their names for committing the crime of temptation for forbidden knowledge.
Now?
The First Woman thrived on her new freedom. She was glad to no longer be under the strict rules of Heaven. Their holier than thou attitude about everything made her quite irritated. Just because she didn't have any special abilities or fancy wings back then, it didn't mean they had to look down at her and Adam with such disdain.
Look at her now!
She was a ruling Queen of Hell, with a handsome husband who was once an angel from the Heavens. Lilith sympathized with his loss of his home. She saw how the Fall affected him. He was an absolute mess.
As Lilith sat by a window in their study, watching acid rain tap against the glass window, she thought back on that day. . . .

Sera glared down at both her and Lucifer as they stood side by side.
"Lucifer, you knew that the fruit you gave Eve was forbidden for her to eat yet you did so anyway. The knowledge it contained should never be in the hands of humans. For your actions, you must pay the price!"
In the distance, Lilith could see Adam holding Eve in his arms, not even sparing her a single glance. Who could blame him? She was replaced the moment the angels realized that the chemistry between her and Adam was not compatible. Lilith was far too independent to be the perfect bride for him, despite their instructions to create life for Eden. But since Lilith would not cooperate, they had to correct a mistake to have another woman created in order to accomplish such a task.
So they made Adam make a sacrifice, a mere slap on the wrist - now that she thought about it, in order to have a proper fitting wife. Lilith was now considered as collateral damage, a mistake to be dealt with at a later date.
Well, if they saw her as a mistake, she would stay with the one who never saw her as such. The one who saw that she had a bright future and a brilliant mind all on her own.
Lilith quickly moved in front of Lucifer as several angelic spears appeared around Sera. The Seraphim's eyes gave a bright white glow as hidden eyes became visible within her wings.
"Stand aside, Lilith! This is his crime and he must pay the price!"
Lilith clung to Lucifer, who had his head down this whole time. He wore a confused expression as she wrapped her arms around him.
She held him tightly, "Over my dead body! If you're going to punish him, you might as well punish me as well."
Lucifer gazed at Lilith in shock. Why was she so willingly to stand between him and a Seraphim? Was she crazy?!
"Lilith..?"
Sera took a breath, analyzing the situation, " Very well. On behalf of Heaven, I hereby condemn you both to exile in Hell!"
The ground beneath them began to shake and crack. Lilith held Lucifer tightly as she whispered to him, "I won't let go of you, not now, not ever..my love."
Lucifer didn't have time to respond to her as he held Lilith tight to his chest as the angelic spears were released towards them both. His wings wrapped around Lilith while the ground beneath them crumbled as they were cast into a deep crimson cavern. It felt like it went on forever, feeling weightless in their eternal drop into a bottomless pit of nothing.
As they fell, Lilith could feel her head swell in pain, causing her to bury her face further into his chest. Her hands clawed at his back, clinging onto Lucifer in hopes of relief in his company.
It wasn't until there was a hard thud that they realized that they finally hit the bottom. Lilith slowly opened her eyes as she saw the pained expression on Lucifer's face. Slowly, Lilith sat up as she was still in Lucifer's wings. Sitting on her knees, she pulled him up as well, allowing him to rest his head against her chest.
"Lucifer..?"
She gently brushed a hand over his cheek, hoping to wake him from his unconscious state. After calling his name for a few minutes, he finally woke up, groaning under his breath as the pain from their fall was abundantly obvious to his senses now. His wings shifted a little, just enough to allow them to see their surroundings.
There was nothing around them. Not a single thing other than darkness and a symbol in the sky above them that was a gate to Heaven.
Lucifer didn't acknowledge the spears in his wings just yet. Instead, his gaze was focused on that gate above them. He raised a hand up only to recoil as he recalled Sera's words.
Lilith looked over his wings, reaching a hand out, "Lucifer, your wings. Do you need help?"
He shifts his attention to the spears, only able to nod. Lucifer was far too stunned to say much of anything.
Lilith took care to make sure they were clean removals, quick and mostly painless. Lucifer gritted at the pain, but said nothing as they were removed. It wasn't until she took out the last one that he placed a hand on her own.
"Why did you do that? Stepping between Sera and I..I'm.." his gaze turned to her face, "You've changed because of me. You should've stayed in Eden.."
Lilith blinked for a moment as she felt around her head, only to discover a pair of horns curved over her head. Well, that explains the headache. Still, she didn't care about her looks at the moment.
Dropping the last spear, she gathered Lucifer's cheeks in her hands, leaning her forehead against his.
"I belong with the one who sees me as something special. Someone who doesn't want me to change to suit their needs. Someone..who encourages me and loves me as I am. I belong with you, Lucifer. Nothing can change that."
His eyes softened, flattered by her words, he smiled but it was only brief as he looked at the sad state of his wings.
"You still shouldn't have come with me. Everything is a mess because of me. Adam and Eve..you..all of you would have been better off if I listened to Sera and stayed away, Now we aren't allowed to go home and we are trapped in this wasteland. I was just trying to help and I..-"
Lucifer breathed heavily, a hand grasped to his chest as he fought a moment to breathe, tears streaming down his cheeks. Lilith quickly took his hands into her own. She gentle rubbed the sides of her thumbs against his hands, humming softly, hoping that the sound of her voice would calm him. Lilith watched as he took a few deep breaths, leaning his head forward.
"Lilly.." he uttered her nickname with a strained voice, "I'm sorry.."
A small smile crept over her lips as she reached a hand over to brush away his tears, "You have nothing to apologize for, my love."

Lilith is then quickly pulled out of her train of thought as a warm kiss could be felt against her neck. Turning her head away from the window, she is greeted by a handsome sight, her loving husband.
"Ah, so that's how we're getting your attention today, hm?" Lucifer teased, flashing her a toothy grin, "Something on you mind?"
Lilith waved a dismissive hand at Lucifer, "Just reminiscing." She gave him a small smile, "Done with your work for today?"
Lucifer leaning on his cane, humming in thought, though a cheeky grin was still present. It was obvious he had a smart ass comment to make and he was proud of himself before he even spoke, "Well, the paper work is all done but I do have this dreadful meeting to attend. Perhaps I can convince a certain lovely lady to accompany me whilst I play hookie for the evening?" As he spoke, he leaned closer towards Lilith, she giggled at how cheeky he was.
"Oh Luci..How could I ever say no to you?"
With an outstretched hand from Lucifer, Lilith accepted his assistance up from her seat by the window. Once she was on her feet, he escorted her from the room, leading her out to the grand hall.
The pair walked around everywhere except for where they were required to be for the meeting, but that was just fine. It wasn't like they couldn't get an email or a letter summing up what happened. They usually only attended to mediate meetings anyway, especially when it came to demonic nobles.
