A Snowy Night with Spacecat Meow

Summary:

It's the Snow Month and Mango the Nerd cat fell dead asleep right in the middle of a party. She then has a dream of what she'd rather have been doing: having a first date with her Idol, Spacecat Meow, who is coincidentally also into her.

Notes:

So here's my first fanfic work for Meow Tower and my first fanfic work in general! Since this work has barely anything for it on here, I feel like a trailblazer! A Pioneer! Treading unexplored territory, like Kiwi! Hope you guys like it! (o^▽^o)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Ah yes. The December Celebrations. The party was set up on the ground floor of the apartment; Momo’s floor of the Meow Tower. Oat and Dough set up the Munchies, Dusty got the live music going, Cream invited the royal council, Kiwi brought in his Wolfcat Boyfriend for everyone to cuddle. It was fun all around. But it got a little bit out of paw for the ever-shy Mango.

The bespectacled Tabby could barely handle being around more than two cats, let alone the entire tower at once. Frankly, she’s surprised everyone could fit down here in the first place. She instead kept to the corner watching everything go down alongside Toto and Arco while trying not to faint of exhaustion. Maybe it’s her being severely introverted or she accidentally drank the alcoholic punch instead of the frankly more fun-sounding fruit punch. They looked just about the same; the same purplish blue liquids in the same stained-glass bowl next to each other with only those small labels to distinguish the two. Either way, she’s in an arm-wrestling match with Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, the Japanese embodiment of the moon and the night to try not to fall asleep here and now from being away from her Kotatsu for so long. …

Then suddenly! She spots a familiar cat amongst the crowd! Somewhat right of the live entertainment, slightly left to Kiwi and his Werecat Boyfriend being publicly affectionate towards each other, AHA! THERE HE IS! The ginger tabby could recognise that signature hat and coat anywhere! That’s Spacecat Meow! The white-furred eyepatched cat from the cartoon she’s obsessed with was bouncing from cat to cat, seemingly searching for someone… Maybe her…? Either way, she scuttled over to him, mentally rehearsing her greetings before finally coming face to face with him. It’s Now or Never, Mango! Don’t mess it up!

“H-Hello! I’m Meow- I MEAN- I’m Mango! Have you- uh- Spacecat Meow! It’s so nice to finally meet you!!” Mango excitedly blurted.

Spacecat Meow seemed shocked to finally be in front of this anxious nerd. “Ah! Mango! Finally, we meet!”

“I’m a big fan of your cartoon! and! Um! I!”

“…Yes? Go on.”

“I really really REALLY Like you!”

“And I like you too!” he replies before giving her a peck on the forehead.

Mango immediately blushed so hard she could conceivably be called Coquelicot.

Spacecat meow took her paw. “Let’s go get some privacy” he smoothly says. Mango could barely do anything but follow him to her room.

… … …

Once they were settled in Mango’s room, she settled under the Kotatsu, and Spacecat Meow curled up on top of it as if he’s never seen one.

“I’ve heard only good things about you, Mango!” Spacecat commented once they’re both settled. “Your pal Momo really put in a good word about you!”

“Really?” Mango exclaimed. “What did he say about me?”

“He said that you were shy, and a bit of a shut-in, but you were very cute! It’s everything I’d want in a girlfriend!”

“R-R-REALLY??”

“Yes Really!”

Mango could think of nothing else to do but to further retreat under the Kotatsu. She never thought she would face this kind of scenario. Her number-one favourite cartoon character is … flirting with her! And she’s stuck in this visual-novel stuff without any guides or walkthroughs! What does she do now…?

Spacecat Meow pokes his head into the kotatsu. “Are you alright, Mango?” He worries. Mango covers her face in a futile attempt to hide. Spacecat meow lays a tender paw on her shoulder to comfort her.

“I’m… sorry I was so forward to you. I’ll try not to embarrass you so hard next time, ok?” His soft words spoke right to Mango, letting her unhide. She and Spacecat meow momentarily look into eachothers’ eyes, Mango soaking in Spacecat Meow’s one galaxy-filled eye, and him getting thoroughly lost in her endless ocean blue eyes. Mango finally speaks back up again: “…wanna have some hot chocolate?”

After one call for room service, the two were enjoying some delicious cocoa while cuddling next to each other under the kotatsu. They’re watching the Spacecat Meow movie together. Spacecat Meow offers some much-appreciated comments along the way; stuff like “I think I met that cat in high school!” and “I wish I could spend more time with that cat…” and “That mouse looked a lot like the one I met at the gift shop! Are you sure they’re not the same mouse?” At the last comment, mango could only reply: “Gift shop guy is a mouse!?”

One hour later, and the two are officially tuckered out and just about ready to head for bed. Spacecat meow affectionately knocked over Mango’s empty mug, and Mango knocked over his in return. They both chuckled warmly at each other afterwards. The both of them gazed longingly into each other’s eyes. Spacecat Meow tenderly takes mango’s glasses off, so he can further appreciate her azure eyes. Mango in turn flipped Spacecat Meow’s eyepatch off, revealing that he rather disappointingly still has that eye. She doesn’t care about this, though. After gazing into eachothers’ eyes for a while, they leaned into each other and kissed each other. The world seemingly falls away as the two cats embrace one another, delighting in each others’ embrace. This make-out session seemingly lasts forever… Mango could never imagine this night getting any better … … …

She woke up, slowly, in the same corner she was in during the party. Morris and Arthur were cleaning up the dust, Arco was modelling it into a literal dust bunny sculpture, and Poco was getting inspired by said dust bunny sculpture. Momo’s been gently shaking Mango awake this whole time.
“Hey. Mango.” he whispered. “You ok? You sorta conked out in the middle of the party there.”

Mango could barely respond to what Momo was saying, as she took in the familiar sight of Momo’s empty room. She scanned the room, taking in the scenery; the tipped over punch bowl table, the knocked over tree, and the unmistakable scent of… “Catnip?” Mango questioned. Momo replies “It was a wild night. You missed a lot.”

All this while, she could only think…

Was that all a dream?

Notes:

I have big plans for giving dreams to the rest of the cats! They're not all gonna be relationship fics like this one but! Yeah! They're gonna be dreams and nightmares! I hope you guys look forward to more of this stuff!
