Chapter Text

Chapter One:

Exhausted.
She was exhausted.

Despite being only twenty-two years old she felt like an old woman with her cracking joints and occasional body aches. Her recent trip in the West had been surprisingly successful just a few fires she had been ordered to put out from the Boss, nothing unusual happened. There were fights here and there but nothing she couldn’t take care of without her ability. Even so, she was still human and she required sleep and rest but paperwork had to be done along with a meeting with the Boss that she wished could have avoided until she was better rested but knew better than to keep him waiting. She had taken a nap on the private jet but she didn’t feel well rested especially since she hated being in one spot for so long.
“Did you hear the latest news?” she overheard one of the grunts talking to another. “Some kid with a tiger ability has a bounty of 7 billion yen on his head, Boss has some of us working overtime to get the kid” the man explained excitedly. “Heard the Armed Detective Agency is putting up quite the fight, fucking pricks I tell ya”.
Now that was interesting news she had to admit ,maybe she’ll ask the Boss about it when she returned. The Armed Detective Agency has been a thorn in their side for quite some time now, with their damn morals and integrity. They walked in the light, loved by the people and praised for their courage. The Port Mafia were not like them, the people in the Mafia were monsters, low-life’s with no interest protecting the citizens of Yokohama. They walked in the dark, whispers of devils in black. She felt the jet jerk a bit , they would be landing soon, she was glad for that. Her gaze slid to the window by her side , the city in her view was beautiful as always, she wondered for a brief moment how big it truly was. Her fingers curled into a fist, angry at that thought because she knew how big the city was. She spent a year and half searching Yokohama for a wanted dead man. Any trace of that damn bastard was gone, he was as slippery as a fish, she had doubts he would remain in the city knowing the mafia was after his head. A soft snort left her, what was she thinking, she knew the Boss would never let that happen to him. Dazai Osamu was untouchable. He was to be kept alive and taken straight to the Boss, a few bruises and cuts were alright as long as he lived. The Boss was obsessed maybe it was better he never be found. “Miss.Nakahara?” She was pulled from her thoughts by the grunt speaking earlier. He was a good looking one with dark brown curls and tall build. Maybe she’ll use him later for a good time. “What was your name again?” She asked with a flirty tone, softly batting her lashes. A sly smirk and one phone number later she was back in the headquarters of the Port Mafia. The walk to the Boss’s office was quiet as it has been for the last four years since he left. Chuuya found she hated the silence and missed his stupid jokes. Four years without the mackerel was…..not enough. “Chuuya”a familiar voice spoke from behind her, causing the woman to pause in her steps. For a moment she thought it was him. Spinning on her heels she came to see no one in her presence not even a grunt in sight. Heart racing in her chest she surveyed the hallway with narrow eyes, her mind was playing tricks on her again. Every so often she would remember his voice, his laugh hell even his touch. Phantom touches grazed her skin every now and then, she hated it. She hated him. She was her own damn person, she didn’t need him, she didn’t care about him at all. He was just a partner, someone who gave her orders and made sure their assignment didn’t get fuck up. She was her own person. She wasn’t Dazais second half. She didn’t miss him. “Miss.Nakahara?” She was pulled from her musings by a grunt , his gaze on her with raised eyebrows. Chuuya hadn’t even notice she had turned back around and started walking again until he said her name. She really needed a drink, a strong wine perhaps? Taking a deep breath she nodded once and walked through the double doors to the Boss.

Midnight in Yokohama was beautiful she normally enjoyed sitting on her patio with a glass of wine watching the city lights, this night though she simply sat outside with her knees to her chest, eyes dead and expressionless. She should be drinking right now but she couldn’t bring herself to do it, she needed to think clearly. Her phone buzzed every now and then no doubt a few calls from Kouyou and some texts from Hirotsu but she didn’t give a shit at the moment. Chuuya glared at the city she loved, hoping her glare could find that bastard and cause burning holes into his skull. After four years he made his dumb appearance, the Boss was excited, going on about how he taught the bastard to hide and use whatever was necessary to stay hidden. He even voiced with pride how well he did for himself, how he was able to blackmail a government official into erasing his crimes. In all honesty she didn’t believe that last part, she knew which official cleared his crimes, he either did it out of fear as the Boss suggested or as a debt to a dear friend because at the end of the day he was the reason why that man died.
Sakunosuke Oda.
The reason why Dazai left in the first place. She may not be as smart as him but she was pretty good at putting the pieces together after all Doc Glasses was labeled a traitor and that man was dead trying to help him in the first place. Then again there was a reason why she rarely made the plans for their assignments. Chuuya sighed tiredly as she stretched her legs out, she had a headache coming on and she definitely didn’t want it. He was back or at least he was found. She doubted he was found , he made his presence known for a reason, he knew something bad was coming or he wanted something to be done. Whatever it is , she knew he would get his way. Dazai was scary that way. Always planning ahead, always right. Damn bastard. He was really annoying.
