So, first things first, the most important thing going in: this is a roleplay archive more than a fanfic. While you are by all means welcome to read it if it strikes your fancy (we would honestly love having an audience!), the point of posting this here is meant to be not to gain and build an audience, but rather to have a convenient place to direct our friends, pals, and chums when they express an interest. For this reason, tagging has been kept to a minimum; likely the people we link have already been told what they need to be told in terms of avoiding and in terms of seeking out, and I would rather leave things vague to the uninitiated than have a huge wall of tags that you guys have to scroll past every time we update.
Okay so what's going on? This roleplay is a crossover between RWBY and Ducktales (2o17), because Tangy (Astroboyd) had a roleplay blog for Boyd Drake and I had a roleplay blog for James Ironwood, and it seemed like the obvious answer to have them meet and interact. From there it grew and expanded until we ended up with this vast sprawling monster of a universe with complex, intricate worldbuilding beyond what either of us ever planned. DTLS is HUGE now; one of the reasons for archiving is so that we can go back and read it at our leisure.
Some notes going in, if you're uninitiated but want to read anyway:
1. We didn't plan for this to get as big as it did, so there's some early installment weirdness in the first volume, when it was just us playing dolls; as things went on, they became more intricate, but it's not until around volume 2 that I started to properly settle into the lore on my side of the fence and was able to keep things consistent. I'm trying to catch and fix those inconsistencies during the archival process, but things will fall through the cracks, and we're all just going to accept that.
2. There's an interstitial in between each main volume; initially this were short, but moving forward they tended to get longer until they're the same length as the volumes. The main way to distinguish between what counts as a volume and an interstitial is that interstitials tend to be singular and contained- one linear point a to point b plot, or two plots that take place on the same day or at close to the same time- where the volumes are more ambling. However, we also have a lot of side threads that I have painstakingly added into the direct narrative at a place I feel they fit best; these don't really come into play until later and some are more seamless than others.
3. RWBY stuff is being written by me; Ducktales stuff is being written by Astroboyd. There are other crossovers and ocs that pop up down the line, but I'll elaborate on those as they become relevant.
4. There are currently 12 complete volumes (plus interstitials and side threads), with the thirteenth being a wip and shelved until further notice.
