Also I wanna explain something I felt difficult to make clear in these comics: Why does Jay seem so different from 14-year-old Boscha in personality?

I think firstly, Jay is a grimwalker and Boscha told her about it very early. Since grimwalker is a clone, Jay tends to see herself as Boscha’s equal, instead of someone being guided by an authority figure, that puts her in a small but constant rebellion phase. So Jay doesn’t really believe in Boscha’s teaching.

Second, and I think most importantly, Boscha as a parent is less strict and she spends more time with her daughter, instead of focusing on work. That’s why Jay generally likes to hang out with her mom. She pretends to be Pandora’s rival not out of fear, instead, she just doesn’t want to make her mom sad.

These are small things, but make big differences overtime.

Potentially stupid question, but at what point did Boscha decide Jay needed to be Pandora's rival? Did Willow or Pandora do something that made Boscha believe Jay needed to do better?

Pandora is a very powerful witch magic wise, but she is mostly known for fighting off half of the Hexside students at first day of school, Boscha wanted Jay to be on par with her. (Side note: Ayzee always feels a bit of uncontrollable jealousy towards Pandora because of her magic ability.)
