Curing the Cure

Summary:

Dr Song has finally found a way to reverse Dr Emilia's "cure". Unfortunately, the Mutes will not remember their past.

Notes:

Hey, y'all! I started this after a suggestion from KATAOW2021 over fanfiction.net where I first started writing and reading fanfiction. I haven't got much so far, but hopefully I can change that soon.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Song's Announcement

Chapter Text

Song took a deep breath and whispered, “Herbs in, herbs out,” before walking onto the platform in front of the entire Las Vistas population. “Hello everyone,” she said with a wave, “I’m sure you’re all wondering what this is about, so I’ll just get right to it. As you all know, for the past seven years I have been studying Hugo and Kipo’s DNA, trying to find a way to reverse Doctor Emilia’s ‘cure’. I am happy to announce that I have finally succeeded.”

The crowd erupted into enthusiastic cheers and applause. Song gestured for them to calm down, looking to Lio, Kipo, Hugo and the triplets in the front row for support. Nobody was going to be happy about what she had to say next. “I know we’re all excited, but you should know that the mutes won’t remember anything when they recover.”
Silence fell over the crowd until Billions raised a paw and asked, “Will they ever remember?”
“It’s possible, but I can’t make any promises. Either way they are going to need the help of their family and friends to readjust.” Song looked out over the disappointed faces, “I know this isn’t the outcome any of us were hoping for, but it’s better than nothing. With all of you to support them, your loved ones will be able to live full and happy lives.”
Kipo stood, “Alright everybody, let’s hear it for my mom!” everyone clapped again. Song smiled, hopefully this would all turn out for the best.
