Work Text:
Alice Liddell, the girl that wore blue. Child of Wonderland. Chosen Child of Rutledge.
Laid back on her bed. She was old, she looked around her. She saw faces of her success. Children who she had saved. Rescued from evil. Children who she had not abandoned. Orphans to the world.
She had missed her family for so long, but she still did. But she was happy she found a new one, one that needed her.
They had grown old, they all looked at Alice around her bed. Hands laid upon her. Tears in their eyes. She was proud to call them family.
She filled their heads with her stories of Wonderland and walked with them in their Otherlands. She protected them, she loved them.
Alice's life appeared before her, she recalled the splendor days of sitting on her father's lap. Or that day she crawled down that rabbit hole. Lizzie's voice could still be heard. She would never forget it. She never did.
Then there was the fire, the moment everything changed. But she was not afraid, she did not want to forget. She accepted it, she moved passed it. She lived. She survived Rutledge, she defeated the Red Queen. Alice still felt the warmth on her face as she left Rutledge for the first time.
He could not make her forget that, he could never make her forget anything, no one would remember his name. He was dead. The sight of him hitting the locomotive was majestic. Alice had never forgotten.
From there her life had forever changed. Alice's mind was opened beyond reality, she could see the Otherlands. She could meet other minds. Her splendid time in the Opera as Wagner played his symphony or her wonderful chat on the Moon with Jules Verne. A smile filled Alice's face.
She stood up to the evil of the world and protected those who could not help themselves. She protected others like her, so no one would have to be her again.
Alice looked at her family. Amongst them were her oldest Friends. The Wonderland she always cherished. Everyone was here.
The Cat sat before Alice, with his large smile. "Sweet dreams Alice."
Alice looked up with tears in her eyes, she saw them. Her Family. Her father, her mother, and Lizzie reached out for Alice.
Alice ran towards them, arms extended. Her Father knelt down and hugged Alice. Tears filled their faces. Alice held her family tightly. She had missed them, she had waited for this for so long.
Finally, she was with them again. Alice smiled as she finally fell to sleep.
