Chapter Text

Chapter One:

Clutching his serpent skinned bag tightly in his sweaty palms, the 21 year old Morgie found himself shivering in both fear and anticipation. It had been three years since he graduated Merlin Prep with his squad of villains. Yet, those three years seemed to be filled with obstacle after obstacle as he failed to ace his own takeover or increase his magic power. So, instead, here he was: at the dock of one of the most feared captains known to all of the land. Especially those unfortunate enough to be stuck in Neverland (more like the land of never dreaming).

You’ll regret it.

The words from his past echoed in his head beyond his gelled light brown hair before he shook them away. Yes, he may have gotten looks by other pirates on the crew as he waited for being so well manicured. As to be expected, many pirates wore raggedy garments and sea-themed attire. Yet, Morgie knew he was no mere pirate. Afterall, he was a powerful sorcerer. Pirate’s crew was just a pit stop on his path to world domination. An unpaid intership for a friend is a better way to describe it. However, that did not stop the younger crew mates from staring and giggling at him.

There was one thing he could not place however:

Why was he scared to see Hook? His best friend and even obsession for multiple years?

The two had always been so close, sometimes even intimate or too intimate. Even till this day, they chatted at least monthly. Yet, a sweat was creeping down his cold skin as he waited patiently to be escorted to his new life. He almost wanted to… back away and never look back. It was odd and terrifying for him, and he did not even know why these thoughts were racing through him. Maybe it was because, although they exchanged letters, it had been three years since they talked face to face. Yet, how much could Hook have changed? He knew Morgie well, and Morgie knew him inside and out.

“Can I help you, pip squeak?” A teenage girl sat next to where he stood on a barrel. She seemed unenthused with his nerves as she polished her sword with an annoyed look. Yet, she still had the audacity to sass him despite him being obviously older than he. He calmed his magical serpent gaze with a breath before responding.

“Actually, I am just-”

“Callista, leave him be, will ya?” Suddenly, a familiar voice erupted before him. However, at first, Morgie hated to admit he could not see or place where it came from. That was until a larger man thudded in front of him from a rope he was swinging on.

There he was: the same yet so much different. In front of him, James Hook stood in a velvet pirate suit and burgundy hat that brought out the golden undertones in his olden hook. However, he did seem to be taller and more muscular than before as he towered above the barely taller Morgie. His hair also seemed different, with his dark brown hair becoming even more darker to an almost black, and his eyeliner becoming more smudged around his treasure chest brown eyes. He also seemed to have grown out his body hair and embraced some light stubble from his many adventures. In fact, he also seemed to have a couple piercing  such as his ear lobes and eyebrows, giving him a more punkish aesthetic (Frankly, to Morgie, it made sense and was even rather attractive). Beyond that, his voice and heart radiated the same James Hooks he grew up with.

“He’s mine.” the pirate growled with a smirk. The younger girl just continued to roll her eyes before shuffling back to what seemed like the crew quarters. Yet, Morgie felt a tinge of fear wave over himself before gulping. Yet, Hook seemed not to notice as he smirked down at the now shorter man. His teeth were straight and white while still seeming to have enough sharpness to bite like an angry guard dog. Despite his professionalism, Morgie could see the inner pirate and scandalous nature behind him as he stood in front of him. His eyes squinted on Morgie like he was his prey, making him gulp before he leaned in closer, rolling the round of his hook off the bottom of his chin as if to pull him forward.

“Let’s continue to my quarters.” He said swiftly, leading the man to a bigger compartment of rooms in the front of the ship.

As Morgie looked around, setting his bag in the corner, he noticed bundles and bundles of golden treasures in every corner. It was obvious the captain had made a name for himself after Merlin Academy, unlike the desperate sorcerer. Quickly, he sat in his own plush chair. He seemed to make himself out of an old barrel before putting his booted feet on the desk. He watched as his old friend explored his room before motioning him to an empty seat across from him, almost impatient yet also amused. The other neater boy sat down quickly. He had always been good at taking orders. Hook knew that.

He tapped his feet on the desk as he spoke. “It’s been a while, ain’t it Morgie?” he spoke saltily as he leaned back in his seat. It was obvious he took this moment with his old friend to be relaxed and casual.

“It has… it seems you changed alot.”

“And you haven’t changed a bit.” the other laughed. “Stuck in the past?”

“Hardly.” Morgie answered. Quite the opposite actually. He was constantly stressed about his future. The other finally took his boots off the table, leaning closer to him.

“Well, remember. While you are here, you are here to work. Not just stare at my gorgeous face.”  The other winked at his classmate. However, the other seemed less amused as he looked to the side. Hook always had this joy of taunting him slowly but surely. It was like he was reeling in his catch of the day, and he hated it when he played these games with him. Annoyed, he gave James a testing glance before he continued. “Over on my ship, we pillage, we plunder, we steal treasure and we do whatever the pirate life dictates. Got it? We don’t do cleaning or spells.”

“Understood.” Morgie rolled his eyes. Of course he knew that. He wanted to expand his horizons to get better opportunities. It wasn’t necessarily something he was proud of: working under his best friend. Although, compared to other’s he would not know and who could use him, it was in fact the better option.

James Hook leaned closer again, examining the man as if trying to get an impression. “So, you will do everything I tell you, right Morges?”

“Of Course,” he astutely answered. However, this seemed to upset him instead. Quickly, he gripped the others chin with a deep firmness. His hands squished his cheeks to the point he could barely talk. In addition, he knew if he moved in anyway the hand would leave red finger marks upon his face.

“Now that's not my language.” He smirked. “If you wanna live on my pirate ship,  you have to use the pirate lingo.”

“Wha-” he started before James got closer assuring him.

“I’m a Captain, so you say?”

He groaned to himself, upset. He knew what he had to do. Despite them being best friends outside of the time and place. “Yes, Captain.”

“Awww, don’t be getting all professional on me now!” He laughed once again. “I am your Captain. So, when I tell you to do something, you respond, ‘Yes My captain’.”

“Yes, my captain.” He groaned again, letting himself do as told again. Finally, Hook smiled, setting him down as pleased. As he settled down again, Hook rang a little bell. As if signaling someone else. However, Morgie had no idea who could possibly hear the tiny ringing over all the noise. Yet, the same girl from earlier ran forward. Callista, he remembered. She smiled as she bowed to the captain.

“Yes, Captain?” Yet, Hook did not yell at her for not using the right possessive. Instead, he smiled, motioning her to Morges and his bag.

“Will you get our new recruit to his quarters? So he can unpack?” He swiftly waved her away. Doing as said, she grabbed his wrist, leading him down the new palace before him. It was like a maze under the deck where they are going. As they went further, Morgie found himself curious. About everything! About his new life, about the crew, about the treasures, about the "Neverland Conquer” he saw written on papers across Hook’s desk. Everything. Turning the corner, she motioned to an old room.

It was… definitely something. It was definitely old with a bed held up by chains to the walls and squeaky floors. Yet, as he looked around, he noticed seawater soaked sheets and papers around the floor. It was as if no one had been living there for a while. However, he did notice the plaque next to him. That he was next to Hook’s Captains bed rooms. With the wall being paper thin, it also became apparent if anything happened next door, inappropriate or not, he woukdl hear. He sighed: he might of actually needed to spell his room after all. Despite what Hook said about no spells. Reaching to her serpent skin bags, his hand delved through its content for his spell books… however, all he felt were his clothes and necessities. Shit. Did he actually forget them? No, there is no way! He packed them this morning after using magic to perfect his hair! Only when thinking about his schedule did he feel it: a thin piece of paper. Quickly, he pulled it out only to realize it was a note:

Took the Liberty of keeping your spell books safe since you shouldn’t need them!

Your Welcome,

Your Captain, James Hook

The ink was still wet as it smudged on his fingers. In fact, his clothes had ink stains as well.Crap. That swindling pirate thief! He frowned and growled, falling back on his new bed. Of course, there was a huge squeak and creak. However, he smiled, reassuring himself. This would all be worth it in the end: after this experience, he would get so much more jobs. Hell, he may even find a new magical artifact to increase his spells and powers. So he smiled as he fell asleep, dreaming of the adventure ahead, and, for now, forgetting his captain.
