Chapter Text
Ming wakes up and vaguely comes to the realization that he is not really awake. His body feels weightless and incorporeal, and there is nothing around him.
But even without a body, he can somehow still feel the dullness from his hangover and the pain of his heartache.
He realizes he must be dreaming and lets his guard down. He just endured the ending of his first love. This has been one of the worst nights of his life; he is allowed to wallow in self-pity for a bit.
“This is a course of action you will come to regret for the rest of your life.”
A voice says behind him, and Ming jumps. He isn’t even aware of anything existing behind him in this state, but suddenly there is an elderly man in traditional-style robes and unseeing eyes that are completely white.
“Who are you?” Ming asks.
“You will know me in time. I am doing this on your request from a different place and time, to warn you that there are consequences to your actions.” The man says.
Ming’s family has always been somewhat superstitious, which is not uncommon for business families in Asia. His brother Mike has studied with a famous master for years, but Ming has never been interested and never really believed in the supernatural.
“Why would I come to someone like you?” Ming challenges.
If the man is offended by Ming’s brazenness, he does not not show it.
“I know you will not believe me. I will show you.” The old man says, and the world around them fades to black.
