It had been an official year since Gene started his music career, with his friends Zenix, Sasha, Laurance, and Nana along with his family always supporting him. He never thought it’d get to this point but he couldn’t be more wrong, finding out he was going to be going on tour this upcoming year. He had a party to celebrate it, but honestly the only thing he could remember from it was Nana; her long pink hair with her wide smile like an angel, perked up ears and continuously moving tail. Not only that, but her outfit that was so her, it complimented her perfectly. And now he was on the tour bus, loud noises crinkling up his ears as he tried to focus. He was on his way to becoming nation-wide. But maybe becoming “nation-wide” wasn’t 100% everything that his mind was on.
Gene furrowed his brows, looking across from him on the bus to see his guitar case. It had been decorated since forever, when Nana first got it for him for his birthday the year prior. He couldn’t stop thinking about her, it was the usual case. Laurance always teased him about it; always staring at the girl for too long or accidentally talking about her for too long, and in a recent case- making a song about her. This song he wanted to perform in front of her one day, but he was definitely more than nervous about it. She was coming to his first show which is tomorrow, and he was preparing himself the most for it because of her. The first person he texted when the bus made it to its destination was Laurance, then Nana, before getting up from his bed which he had been sitting on.
The black-haired male picked out his outfit for the concert the next day, a lot swirling in his mind now. He never was the type to overthink, things just came easily to him in that sense. He knew how to get someone on his side, how to get people to do things for him. But this thing he wasn’t so sure about, telling Nana his feelings for her. And it wasn’t because of the lack of ideas, it was the overwhelming amount of ideas he did have. Pink roses, café date, a park walk, watching her favorite show, baking, maybe even drawing, even though he was bad at it. But so many people were telling him to use the song as a confession, spamming his messages about it that he took a deep sigh and got on his laptop. He pulled the song up, it was not very… his style but it fit Nana a lot. Upbeat pop kind of song, whilst his regular music was more punk. But this song was for Nana, about Nana, it only made sense. He made the beat of this song to be able to dance with her.
The nighttime came and went, and Gene woke up from slumber early, around 7am on the day of the concert. The concert; the first concert of his tour, and he decided it would also be where he made his confession to Nana. Laurance, Garroth, Dante, and Travis arrived at the tour bus at 8am to help Gene get ready emotionally for this. Travis kind of came with Dante wherever he went, and it was the same Garroth with Laurance. Gene hoped him and Nana would be like this, if they weren’t already. “Thank you guys,” Gene spoke as he opened the door to the four of them, letting the four of them onto the tour bus.
“Of course brother, we are here to help you,” Dante replied with a gentle smile, trying to hide his excitement. The younger brother had watched his older brother pine for the meif’wa for a year now, and if Gene waited a day longer he felt like he was going to go insane. He felt confident about this, as did Laurance who nodded in agreement with a similar looking smile. It was kind of amusing to Travis, who let out a small giggle only for Garroth to push his shoulder playfully for him to relax.
“Whatt, their expressions were so similar, it was funny” he replied to the push with another giggle, the blonde ending up nodding in agreement. “That’s true,” he smiled, looking at Dante and Laurance as they immediately started to help out Gene. First making sure the outfit was good, but that was mainly Laurance, then mainly Dante making sure he had the “flirty tone”, according to him at least. Garroth especially was confused how that made any sense but Travis explained it as “charm”, which made more sense but the both of them knew Gene wouldn’t need help on that end.
The emotional preparation would start an hour before the show started, they decided on doing chocolates along with the song, and they’d get Nana on stage during it. They were at the venue by now, Gene was doing sound check for the show. The fans who came for sound check were excited, and he was glad about it but he was still anxious, feeling himself shake a bit more than he normally did. His friends and Dante showed up, who were in the VIP seats along with Nana. The plan was, when the song was about to go on the security would bring her up onto the stage, but that wasn’t for a few hours now, it was in the middle of the concert. He determined he didn’t want to start with it or end with it, so the middle was the perfect spot. The sun was starting to set pinks and oranges, his eyes gazing over the sky as the song check ended. His hands gripped onto the microphone and put it back on the stand for the opening act, watching crowds start to fill up the stadium. He moved hair from his face, waving to the crowd before going backstage temporarily for the opening act.
It felt like it went faster than lightning, because he was back on stage sooner than he knew it taking the microphone again. The sun was fully set now, Gene’s eyes gazing over the overtaking crowd which was screaming. He started his first song of the set, finding himself looking over at the VIP seating area to see superfans and the people he invited. Nana looked so excited, a huge grin overtaking her face which made the whole stadium sparkle. Even this punk music that wasn’t her type of music had her excited and jamming, which relieved him somewhat. She was hyped, not suspecting anything. Gene brought out his bass guitar while starting his song, and this continued for the first half of the concert. The crowd was going wild the way he wanted, and he couldn’t help but crack a smile despite being so nervous over what would be happening next. It felt moments away and he was slipping out of his skin, not knowing how she’d react. What if he got horribly rejected in front of all of his fans? He cleared his throat at the end of the song he was currently singing, getting himself out of the headspace as much as he could as he saw her.
Security was bringing her to the stage, Gene couldn’t slow down time anymore. Someone in his band secretly handed him over the chocolates, he mouthed a thanks, taking out his ear piece. The crowd was looking at each other in confusion, chattering and screaming. He could hear all of it much more clearly now. He could also hear the clank of heels on the stage, looking away from the audience to the side, seeing Nana in all her glory, much closer to him now. He felt his cheeks warm up as he gave her a smile, the audience starting to cheer him on as they started to catch on. “Hey Gene,” Nana spoke with a smile, bright as always but it had a softness to it the black haired male didn’t know how to describe. He took in a deep breath, hearing the sweetness of her voice helped calm him down some. “Hey Nana, um, I would like to tell you something,” he spoke into the microphone, but still looking at her. He first handed the hidden chocolate, watching her gasp in surprise but hold the box of chocolates close to her chest.
“Aw, Gene!” Nana had a sharp feeling on what was going on, it made her own cheeks flush too. She didn’t know how to admit her own feelings towards him for a while, despite getting to know him through Laurance and the others. They got closer individually, which is how their relationship grew stronger and stronger until she could tell something was there between them. But Nana didn’t say another word. She wanted Gene to express his feelings. And that’s what he did. His band started to play again, and he started to sing a song after putting away his guitar. It was more Nana’s style than his own but the crowd was going wild, they didn’t care they were there for a punk concert only to hear a poppish song. From the lyrics, they knew it was a confession. Nana was head over heels, taking her hands out to Gene to dance mid song. Usually Gene wouldn’t do this kind of stuff, but he couldn’t resist the meif’wa, taking her hands and dancing with her whilst singing the song into the microphone. The love in his brain went overdrive, and it seemed to do the same to her. They were in complete harmony.
The song floated down and finished off, leaving the two of them on stage catching their breath from the dancing. He felt like his head was spinning, the crowd’s cheering blasting through his ears. At the moment, he kind of forgot to put his ear piece back in but it’s okay. He wouldn’t trade it for anything to see the pink-haired girl in front of him smile so much. “If you couldn’t tell from the song,” Gene started once calming down from the song itself, starting to smile more himself. “I like you Nana, like a lot.” He nodded in full confidence in himself, which led to Nana giggling and hugging Gene before replying back, “I like you too Gene! So much!” Gene chuckled too, it felt like such a relief to his stomach. They hugged for a bit longer before letting go. He knew the concert wouldn’t feel the same anymore as they hugged again before he watched Nana get escorted off stage again, them both waving at each other as the crowd was going wild. He put his ear piece back in this time, clearly needing it. But truthfully, the rest of the concert felt euphoric to him.
He was smiling the whole time, singing and playing his heart out, all to see the girl he loved smile as bright as he did. The people in VIP had crowded Nana, congratulating her and vibing with her the rest of the concert. It was such an unforgettable moment. The concert felt like it would never end. But it did. And when he made his way backstage, he was met with her. Nana smiled so brightly, running over to Gene. “You did so well!” she exclaimed, finally leaning up to possibly kiss Gene. He suddenly flushed from the implications of a kiss, but he did it, leaning back down as their lips interlocked. He could hear quieter cheers in the back from his friends, who he was currently so grateful for. The black-haired male cradled her after the kiss made its exit, feeling his body fully relax. Both of them smiled like fools, Dante definitely took a video of it while Laurance was the type to take a million photos. But either way, it was great to witness. And to Gene, life changing. They confessed their love that day together, and pronounced themselves as boyfriend and girlfriend. Gene’s life would only be looking up from this.
