double trouble !!

Summary:

『Reigen Arataka x Reader』: Never try to mess with a psychic, or his police officer girlfriend before, during, or after their date. If you do, better have your salt ready and just do the easy way out. No one wants to be cursed, haunted, or hunted down by any of them.

Work Text:

“Hey, where are you right now?” Reigen asked, standing in front of the bus station as he waits for his girlfriend. To be frank, he just arrived at the location- but he had the audacity to call her and act like he was waiting there for almost an hour.

“I’m at the street right across you, dumb-dumb.“ (Y/n) giggled in response as she saw her boyfriend looking around for her. “Nice try on making me guilty, we both know you just arrived.” She teased as soon as he caught sight of her.

The blonde man smiles embarrasingly soon seeing his girlfriend waving hi at him. “Ah, shut up- it’s been awhile since I saw you act all flustered over me.” He replied back through his phone's microphone, walking towards her.

“Are you just going to talk to me through the phone all night, or are we still going to our reservation?” She answered back, her lips forming a small pout at him.

“Don’t worry bub, we’re an hour and half early to our reservation." He replied with a grin, making his usual overexaggerated hand gestures.

“Oh hush Arataka! I'M HUNGIE!" She said cutely, the pout resurfacing.

He chuckled at her, 'Damn she's so adorable!' Putting his phone back in his pocket, and walks towards her direction. Just before he could ever get a chance to reach and hug his girlfriend, a shady looking man intercepted them.

The shady dude was wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase, he come up to (Y/n) first and was trying to strike up a conversation with her.

“Wow miss! You’re really cute- are you perhaps a college student?” The man with the briefcase asked, a grin plastered on his face.

This understandably weirded her out, but she tried to be nice and answered the man’s question in hopes he’d leave her. “I’m sorry, but no I'm not.” She replied, still creeped out by this man.

“Really? I apologize if I offended you, b-but you’re really cute and pretty! You’re perfect to be an idol, have you heard of SC48?” The man went off.

“Excuse me?” Reigen called out, trying to get the creep's attention. after work and then this bozo isn't taking a hint?

“Oh, yes! Hello, you must be this lady’s boyfriend-?“

"Yes, and how can I help you, sir?” Reigen asked calmly, going to (Y/n)’s side and wrapping an arm to her waist protectively. He just wanted to go out on a cute date with his girlfriend after work and then this bozo isn't taking a hint?

Damn.’ It was all she could think of when she noticed how smooth Reigen was when he grabbed her waist.

“Good afternoon sir! I’m Shohiro Teku and I am a talent scout agent for MP1 Studios.” The man introduced himself, bowing before giving Reigen a calling card. “Did you know that your girlfriend has the visuals fit to become an idol? And with her age- she’s perfect enough to be the leader of an upcoming group.” The shady man explained, trying to appeal to said boyfriend.

At a split second, it looked like Reigen was genuinely interested with the scam- “Really?”

(Y/n) gave him a look that could actually kill, “WTF Taka?" She muttered under her breath. "I swear to god, this better be a part of your plan. Or I will beat your ass later.” And hoped he wasn’t really buying in to this stuff.

Calm down, I got this under control. Trust me.” He softly whispered it back to her. “Sooo does that mean you have contracts as well if she wants to be an idol?” He asked ‘what’s-his-name’, thankful that the man wasn't listening in to their conversation.

“Yes sir! In fact- I have the papers here already in my briefcase! She can sign it already, and we can start with her training as soon as possible!” The shady man said, holding out his briefcase like it was his pride and joy.

Reigen asked if he can see the papers, and the man happily complies, “Sure sir!” He opens his briefcase and takes out the contract, quickly passing it to Reigen.

Immediately, said boyfriend reads it thoroughly- passing some papers to his girlfriend so she can read it as well. “These all seem legit...” Reigen trails off, perusing through the document.

“It’s because they are-“ “-Not.”

“What do you mean?” The man looks at him quizically.

Reigen raises an eyebrow at him, “You’re not a real talent scout agent- what you’re doing is clearly not legal.” He motions to his girlfriend, pointing at a bullet point.

“He’s right.” (Y/n) interjects.

“It even states in your contract that, ‘scouting can only be counted if the agent is in part of a talent event (ex: school events, concerts, fan meetings, busking events). Do not accept the offer if the scouting agent has done the scouting out of event distributed by the company. Under article II, section 1.' See, plain as day.” Reading the statement out loud, she even pointed the article within the aforementioned contract. “It basically means that you’re a fraud.”

“And you’ll surely go to prison for this, thanks for the evidence and calling card! Mr. Shohiro Teku?” A completely bored look on Reigen’s face as he read the man’s name from the calling card. “And now- do you want us to do the easy way by escorting you there to the precinct? Or do you want to do the hard way by trying to run while we go and report you to the police and have you posted around Seasoning City?”

“Who the fuck are you two?” Teku exclaims, bewildered- he didn’t knew his scam would be found out that easily.

“Easy sir, I think it’s not good to be cursing in front of a police officer and her boyfriend.” (Y/n) replied, holding hands with Reigen in front of the man. “Hi! Officer (L/n), (F/n) from the Seasoning City precinct.” She introduces herself, flashing a diabolical shit-eating grin to Teku.

“And I’m her boyfriend, "The Greatest Psychic of the 21st Century": Reigen, Arataka.” Said man presents himself (including the excessive and unexplainable hand gestures he does). “And haven’t you heard?" He pauses for a moment, copying the same shit-eating grin his girlfriend has on, "We’re the trouble couple!”

(Y/n) stifling a giggle from the silly thing Reigen said, meanwhile the caught Mr. What’s-his-name just stands there knowing his jig is up. “Anyways, you have the right to remain silent-“ She takes out her police badge out of her purse and shows it to the (other) conman, “-whatever you say or do can and will be held against you.”

“Now, back to my earlier question. Is it the easy way, or the hard way?” Reigen asks again, his shit-eating-grin face never leaving as he stares at the man. “I’m warning you, if you do the hard way- you might risk yourself getting haunted by an evil spirit.”

“Haunted? What do you mean by that?” The other man worriedly asked, still finding Reigen’s words a bit sketchy all while considering to do the latter option.

Reigen sighs exasparatingly, cocking his head to the side before he starts with his rambling.

“Before I came here, I was talking to someone who had been haunted by an evil spirit. Apparently, It can be passed along to anyone and now it’s haunting me. I heard strange things earlier in the bus, weird things keep popping out on picture stores on their own and it becomes unbearable."

Reigen puts a hand on the creep's shoulder before heavily patting it, "Don’t worry! The spirit only haunts on espers like me, and creeps like you.” He said, putting on a very ugly and creepy face (enough to scare the old creep, but not enough to embarrass (Y/N) like that) before looking to the man's right, "Would you look at that! I guess it’s starting to like you mister!”

And without a moment of doubt, the man went with the couple to the precinct- that is after the creep pleaded to Reigen to exorcise the spirit off. And after filing the report and other boring stuff they finally went to their dinner reservation, with only 30 minutes to spare.

“Hey Taka.”

“Yes, bub?”

“Is what you said earlier true?” She asked, looking over at her menu only to see Reigen trying to figure out if the budget he has for the date will be enough to cover for their dinner and the rest of their evening.

“I guess so, I mean the haunting is true but the spirit is harmless.” He said, still looking at the menu- mentally calculating their expected expenses.

“Why haven’t you exorcised the spirit yet?” She asked, already knowing what to order, ‘He’s still doing it, I should tell him we should split the bill like last time.’

Reigen shrugs, “Eh, I decided to keep him for another day- besides, the spirit kinda looks like a puppy.” He said all while making a quick inspection on his girlfriend's face. ‘She has that look on, she probably wants to split the bill again.’

(Y/n) sighs deeply at him, and shakes her head in disbelief. “That’s it, we should better get a dog.”

“So that means you’ve decided to live with me?” “-No!”

“You said ‘we’, no takebacks (Y/n).”

“Can I have another boyfriend that’s also a Reigen Arataka?”

“Nope, I’m the only one- and you’re stuck with loving me for the rest of our lives.”
