Chapter Text

Demons are born through sin.

That’s a well known fact throughout demons, and the exact reason why they avoid those who are pure hearted.

Sinners however, came in many flavours. Their misdeeds marinated the soul with various virtues.

The worse their sin, the better they taste.

The ones who were originally pure of heart taste the best of all. The taste of corruption on one’s formerly pure sole is unique and deserves to be savoured.

Uzi hoped he would understand that, but all he did was look at her utterly clueless.

A horrible thought went through the demon at his reaction.

“N… is it possible that-” stop asking stop asking stop asking stop asking  “-you don’t know what a blade it..?”

“I’m afraid not My Lady.” Was her dreaded answer.

“How?”  That single word expressed all her feelings of disbelief, shock, doubt, and many others. “You were able to use it on yourself just fine!”

“That was because I was given the time to trial and error. Also, it was an accident..?”

He just had to grab a frying pan or some other heavy or sharp object to take out the target with to render them unconscious. Or better yet, dead.

“You mean ‘cult’, if you want to be specific about it.” Uzi added, intentionally adding more fuel to the fire with how amused she was with how Tessa the target continued to grow several shades paler at each revelation made.

“That’s even worse.”

“Eh, it is what it is.” Uzi shrugged, paying more attention to the pancakes N was stacking onto her plate than their horrified target.

“And it means what it means.” Uzi replied. “I am a demon, and N is the human they sacrificed to me.”

Maybe it did since a great bright light enveloped them all just a few milliseconds before Uzi’s claws tore into Tessa.

One moment was the beginning of the end, and the next everyone was properly seated and nobody knew why.

As much as she enjoyed watching people scream around her in terror, she also did not wish for the car Napoo had stolen not even five minutes ago to get destroyed due to his disastrous driving.

“I told you to trust me, and that involves pressing onto that thing like your life depends on it, servant! Do. It.”

“Why don’t you try everything and see what works.” She irritatingly ordered.

What’s the worse thing that could happen?

Uzi leaned back against her seat as she muttered, “And I would have gotten it too if you didn’t stop me.”

“Have you ever considered ‘random’ to be secretly a ‘chance’?”

“Hey you! How dare you fail to notice the artefacts we had stolen!”

As for why she was still alive, she supposes she has N to thank. Who else could be the one who saved her? Tessa? She’d rather die a pathetic and laughable death due to choking on bread before she asked her for help.

On another note, Uzi doesn’t remember getting into bed at all. Did she pass out of humiliation and Napoo carried her here? Doesn’t that mean Tessa saw that too and must be laughing her butt off as she further believed Uzi was pretending to be a demon?

“How does that include raising you to be a disposable servant?”

“I was raised and trained to be what I am in exchange for My Lady’s services. Services that will further help humanity. My Lady is so generous for accepting just my life as payment when I am worth so lacking compared to others.” He explained. “It’s truly no wonder I ended up this way. They always did say I’d end up a useless servant if I didn’t do better. My Lady truly deserves better.”

Guilt crept up to him as he watched the food piled on his plate. He really shouldn’t the eating before his Lady like this.

Was Uzi actually stuck in reality, or was this all a grand illusion created by Lizzy with the intention to permanently destroy her self esteem to ensure she’d give up being a demon for good?

Wait- that last one could be very possible. Lizzy was particularly skilled in creating illusions after all. And  she absolutely hated Uzi’s guts! So who’s to say this isn’t all just a ploy to mess with her sanity and ability to cope with life?

A wide smile adorned Uzi’s face, her razor sharp teeth glinting in the light.

Her eyes were filled with an empty glee as it stared at nothing.

The kitchen was freezing.

This definitely didn’t terrify the two humans in there with her.

“Uzi, you okay there kid?” Asked a concern Tessa after sipping her cold coffee. Geez, she swore it was hot just a moment ago. “Watcha smiling at?”

When Tessa did not receive a reply, she turned towards Napoo.

“Is she always like Nathaniel?”

“My Lady? No. I have never seen her like this before…”

“I still think that’s unnecessary.” Looking away, he muttered. “I’m quite alright already. Or I will be-” His gaze shifted towards Uzi who was still laughing to herself, ignorant to what was happening to the rest of the world. “-even if My Lady doesn’t want me anymore.”

The teenage boy smiled at Tessa.

“…whatever happens, I deserve it.”

“Don’t.”

“Huh?”

“Don’t smile like that you precious baby boy- you serendipitous ball of sunshine- it’s not right!”

“I- I don’t understand.”

Instead of replying, Tessa got up from her seat and dashed away into her room.

When she got back, she was carrying an oval mirror a bit bigger than her head.

She held the mirror right in front of Napoo.

He could see his reflection in it clearly.

“Do you see yourself Neffy?”

“Yes..?” Napoo tried to look at Tessa, but her face was completely hidden on the other side of the mirror. “Why did you ask?”

"I BET YOU’LL BE UNABLE TO STOP YOURSELF FROM FALLING FOR HER!!!!!”

“Tessa, I thought I’d let you My Lady has recently given me a new name. It’s Nocent.”

“When did she do that?”

“While you were watching TV.”

“Wow, that is  recen-”

“STOP IGNORING ME YOU TWO!!!”

The two turned to a livid Uzi, fuming as steam erupted from her ears.

“My Lady!” Nocent cried in relief. “My apologies for ignoring you- it was an accident I swear, but I am so relieved that you are your normal self again!”

“Me too kid. I was worried about you for a while there-”

“Silence.”  The demon ordered. “I do not wish to listen to any sort of nonsense that will definitely come out of your big mouth.”

“So you changed your mind after all?”

“Aaaah! You deafling! Did you just not here what I said???”

“Loud and clear.” Tessa affirmed. “You want to talk, and you want us to listen, correct?”

“Exactly! So don’t you dare interrupt.”

“Of course Uzi, of course.” Tessa nodded and smiled to Uzi sweetly. “Go on then.”

Uzi doubted Tessa’s words, but upon receiving her silence she began.

“Every human no matter how pure will one day succumbed to their heart’s dark, and sinful desires. They try to resist it so, but it is inevitable for them to fail miserably.”

Victoria wishes she could’ve had a better day.

After the sheer chaos of the new Demon Doll reveal, she was beyond exhausted. Being surrounded by what felt like thousands of little girls, unexpected boys, and  adults all day had drained her social battery to the negatives.

She thought she would be ready.

She had lied told herself she would be ready.

She had pretended convinced herself that she would be ready.

But it looks like she wasn’t able to lie to herself good enough that wasn’t the case.

Nevermind.

Nevermind. Nevermind. Nevermind. Nevermind. Nevermind. Nevermind. Nevermind

It was over now.

She could stop thinking about it.

And it’s not like Li- Miss Lizzy was here to judge her.

(It was so weird she had to call her that considering they very similar in age.)

It’s just- before this all she had to do was arrange and restock the shelves with more doll boxes. Or work as a cashier and scan things.

It was simple work that involved little to non-existent social interaction, and she was okay with that.

And then she had to help out for this event, and her parents insisted she get involved.

(Nothing like working closely together for the people involved with the company her parents worked with for the potential of increasing their connections. Or to receive favour. For some reason, Victoria doubted they were going to get any of those.)

Today was so overwhelming.

The noise, the talking, the touching, the scolding, the rushing, the stressing-

She just wanted to forget.

But how could she do that when she knew that similar days were ahead of her?

Words failed her, so Victoria shook her head.

“Eh?” The boy tilted his head in confusion. “Why not?”

‘Because you could fall and get hurt and it would be all my fault.’  She mentally replied, climbing onto the ladder before he could.

“Alright then!” The boy didn’t question her lack of answer determined expression took over his face when he looked up to her. “Let’s do this!”

“Be careful coming down Victoria.” The boy reminded besides the ladder. “Wouldn’t want you to fall and get hurt!”

Victoria nodded in acknowledgement as she slowly stepped down. Talk about ironic.

She wasn’t worried about that though. She had gone up and down this ladder so many times she was basically a master at this point.

Naturally, she proceeded to slip, lose her grip, and came tumbling down.

Oh why?

She knows she had previously thought of falling off a high place, but that didn’t mean she actually wanted to do that!

This ladder wasn’t even that high! The second she reached the bottom, she’d be greeting pain instead of death.

But when she did, she experienced neither of that.

Instead, she felt herself getting wrapped around in soft fabric before hitting something that was definitely not the hard, unforgiving ground.

Bam!

“Ow…” Groaned a voice not belonging to her.

Victoria opened he eyes and quickly checked her surroundings. Was someone hurt?

She felt something shift beneath her, and looked down. There she locked eyes with the boy who was helping her, his small body squashed underneath her own.

At that moment, Victoria wished she had died instead.

“Oh my goodness- I’m so sorry! I didn’t- I didn’t mean to! It was an accident I swear!”

“It- it’s okay.” The boy smiled as he held back a wince of pain. “But- could you please get your hand off my neck?”

To her horror, a hand of hers was indeed pressing against his neck. She must have been chocking him!

“O-of course!” Victoria pulled her hand away as if it had been burned, and the rest of her body as well.

“Th-ank you.” He coughed as attempted to get up. Victoria instinctively bent down and offered him both of her hands to hold onto.

“I’m so, so, so, so, so, so, so, sorry!” She cried as the boy sat down on the floor all roughed up thanks to her. “I really didn’t mean to fall! I usually go up and down those steps all the time! I don’t why-”

“It’s okay, it’s not your fault.” The boy smiled reassuringly to her as he cradled his poor neck with one of his hands. “Everyone makes mistakes.”

“But I ended up hurting you!” Victoria rebutted. “That’s unacceptable! Miss Lizzy will be livid if she found out I hurt a customer!”

“Who says she has to know then?” The boy winked. “I can keep a secret.”

“But- but-”

“And it’s not like there’s anyone else here. They’re all busy eating, and so should you.” He pointed out. “So don’t worry about it! I’m okay!”

“So w-what if nobody will find out? I still hurt you because of my own c-carelessness!” She retorted in frustration. “That is not  what you do to someone who helped you out.”

“Please don’t worry about it, I heal fast!” He said as if that would make it any better. “It’s better me than you anyways. It would be pathetic of me if I were to be unable to catch you in time. Even though I wasn’t strong enough to carry you…” He admitted with a blush. “…sorry.”

Victoria’s face proceeded to turn as red as a rose at his words.

So he caught her, but due to her being too heavy he got crushed into the floor?

Was this the universe’s sick way of telling her she needed to lose weight? Because Victoria now had the very strong urge to work horrendously hard the gym.

“I’m sorry for being fat.” She muttered with her face in her hands.

“What was that?”

“Nothing- just sorry.”

“Aww, Victoria…” The boy frowned, and gently used his hands to pull away hers.

Once her face was revealed, Victoria was horrified to find out how close his was to hers.

It was kind of like those romance novels she sometimes read where the two main leads had their faces inches apart, and all she could see was him.

“Don’t cry Victoria. I didn’t mean to make you sad.” The boy frowned at her.

‘And I didn’t mean to make you frown.’  She thought guiltily.

When she didn’t respond, the boy used the tip of his fingers and gently wiped away the tears she was unaware of.

This could only result in her blush growing even more.

“Uh, Vic? You’re starting feel pretty warm now.” The boy said after his fingers felt the heat radiating off of her. “Do you have a fever? Is that why you fell?”

“Uhh- I- ugh- actually- yes..?”

“Then why didn’t the tell me???” The boy questioned with a worried gaze. “I would’ve gone up the ladder for you! In fact, you shouldn’t be working at all!”

“Sorry…” Was all she was able to muster.

“That’s okay. I forgive you.” He immediately replied. “But what’s important is you go home and get lots of rest so this doesn’t happen again. How are you to work properly if you don’t take care of yourself?!”

“I’m really sorry for this.”

Victoria waited, and waited, but pain never came. Curious, she looked up and saw the boy using himself as a shield to protect her from the oncoming attack.

“Anything to help a friend.” He smiles and the girl before him does not turn any less red.

“We’re… friends?” Victoria asks, and suddenly the waiter arrives to serve them their food.

“Only if you want to be.”

Victoria is silent as she blankly stares at him.

“Oh.” She finally says (after Uzi had Tessa receive their order as well.)

“Oh I don’t know… make friends I guess. Or get a boyfriend.” Victoria sipped her drink again in embarrassment. “…I think they’re getting desperate.

“They’ve always been pushing for me to have at least one of those two.”

“America isn’t the center of the universe.”

“With how it treats itself as if it is, it might as well be.”

I have no promises that I'll arrange these in the future. Other than that, I see them as what if scenarios of what happened in alternative universe's of The Demon I Was Sacrificed To multiverse.

It's possible I might use some things from here later.
