Work Text:
Jaune had always dreamt of being a Huntsman, but life didn’t work out that way… No, it didn’t happen that way at all. Instead, the man he paid to unlock his Aura put the young man in debt, and the only way to be free of it was to work as a hitman for his organization. And Jaune was good at what he did.
One day though, well after he settled his debts, he met a woman. She was a student at Beacon, the very school which had banned Jaune due to his criminal record, but she wasn’t like the other prissy students he’d come across. No, she was impressed by his record and by his abilities. That very night, he tendered his resignation to the Malachite Crime Family and to his boss, Junior.
The woman, Yang Xiao Long, stood by his side and fought the waves of goons and assassins off with a smile. The rest was history…
A whirlwind romance culminated in Jaune’s new profession as a househusband. Well, technically a house-fiance since they couldn’t officially get married until Yang graduated. Still though, Old Man Oz was nice enough to let Jaune live with team RWBY and NPR in exchange for some minor housekeeping and a few favors here and there. Nothing too crazy, mainly just ensuring that any threats to the school were taken care of quietly.
Well, sort of quietly. Jaune wasn’t necessarily the stealthiest hitman out there. No, he specialized in sending messages through violence. Extreme violence. But that was in the past. He wasn’t that man anymore. “Breakfast is ready!” He called out, adjusting the sunglasses hiding the bags under his eyes. Yang knew what he did, Blake probably did too, but the others were better off not knowing how exactly he earned his keep around Beacon.
Seven bedraggled students slumped into their seats at the breakfast table while Jaune chuckled quietly. He passed out plates two at a time before finishing with Yang’s. He kissed her on the top of the head. “Good morning, beautiful.” His lover blushed before hiding behind her hair. “Sorry, I forgot you didn’t want me to do that in public.”
“It’s not that…” Yang mumbled. “I-I haven’t put my makeup on yet…”
“But ma fleur ardente , you cannot look anything other than beautiful! ‘Tis impossible!” Yang’s face turned an even brighter shade of red. “Now, enjoy your breakfast, ma chérie .” With that, he kissed her cheek before returning to the kitchen to prepare her lunch.
He didn’t need to make her lunch considering that she could eat from the cafeteria, but she seemed to like having a homemade meal. She said it reminded her of him, so that alone made it worth doing. One by one, Yang’s friends shuffled out of the kitchen, leaving him and her alone. “You really are coming on strong, Lover Boy.” Yang laughed as she approached him. “But I’m not complaining.” She removed his sunglasses and stared into his eyes. “I’ve always loved how sharp your gaze is…” She whispered before kissing him.
The kiss lingered for some time, but Jaune reluctantly pulled back. “As much as I’d love to kiss you all day, my love, you have to get to class.”
Yang frowned and sighed. “Fine, but just one more kiss.”
Jaune smiled and obliged. “Of course. I’d hate for you to leave with a frown on your perfect face.”
Yang’s face flushed red one more time as her eyes fluttered shut from the sensation of their kiss. Their embrace lasted until they reached the doorway.
“Have a good day, Yang.” Jaune whispered as he opened the door for her.
“I’ll see you soon, Jaune.” She whispered back before giving him one last peck on the lips.
Jaune watched her leave before shutting the door and locking it. “Now…” he looked at the dirty dishes and unmade beds and sighed. He shook his head and fixed a smile on his face. “Now to clean!” Yang swore that she didn’t care what their home looked like as long as he was waiting there for her, but Jaune knew she enjoyed coming home to a clean house. It was a level of domestic bliss that never failed to brighten her day, so Jaune always made sure to clean up while she was gone.
Today was no different, and tomorrow would be just the same. He’d always make sure she had a home to come back to, forever and ever.
The End.
