Cookie Run: Kingdom Legends

Summary:

Long after the Ancient Heroes vanished, a group of unlikely friends came together. They set out on a grand adventure, unaware that they would uncover the tales of ancient legends, and perhaps become legends in their own right.

Join them on this epic retelling of Cookie Run: Kingdom’s story, but with a few new twists. Written with the help of my friend VoidReader777; her works are highly recommended.

Chapter Text

‘In the distant past, after the chaos of iron and flame subsided, many creatures baked by the Witches scattered across the world.’

‘Among them were the Five. Five Cookies, graced with Soul Jam of the purest kind. Wise and powerful, they rallied others to their cause. As kings and queens, they ruled the Cookies, bringing in a golden age of peace and prosperity.’

‘But this age was not fated to last. A harbinger of darkness appeared and let shadow and evil infest the land. And once more, the world erupted into chaos. But the five Cookie heroes, guardians of peace, have risen. Twilight falls, and the war for the Cookies’ destiny has begun.’

This was the final battle. The Five approached the scene of a horrific battlefield.

“What a horrible sight,” White Lily Cookie muttered, looking around at the carnage surrounding them.

“The whole place is covered in Cookie crumbs!” Hollyberry Cookie added.

“Foul sticky cream,” Dark Cacao Cookie observed. “The stench of burnt butter in the air…”

“What on Earthbread is going on here?!” Golden Cheese Cookie voiced the question that was on all of their minds.

“It’s not good. Dark Enchantress Cookie has declared war on the Vanilla Kingdom,” Pure Vanilla Cookie informed the others.

“The Cookie who brought the Cake Monster army into our lands?” Dark Cacao Cookie questioned.

“Yes,” Pure Vanilla Cookie answered. “She attacked while I was occupied elsewhere.”

“Oho!” Hollyberry Cookie responded. “That’s gotta be some hard flour for such a brazen strike!”

“We must find Dark Enchantress Cookie as soon as possible,” Pure Vanilla Cookie went on. “Let’s make haste!”

The Five moved quickly through the hallway, but they were soon met by a pack of Cake Hounds charging right towards them. Dark Cacao Cookie swung his massive sword, slicing them down to crumbs with ease. Another pack of snarling Cake Hounds came after them, but they were quickly dispatched with the might of Hollyberry Cookie’s shield. Soon, the Five Heroes were facing against their enemy.

“And so, we finally meet upon the ruins of your home,” Dark Enchantress Cookie said, looking down at the quintet as she stood in front of the throne. “You are rather late… for your own demise!”

“Dark Enchantress Cookie!” Pure Vanilla Cookie opened his eyes - one bright yellow, the other sky blue - to look up at her. “What is the meaning of this?”

“Do you know the reason why we, Cookies, were created?” Dark Enchantress Cookie asked in response.

“What rancid NONSENSE are you peddling now?!” Golden Cheese Cookie responded, having had just about enough of this sorceress.

“Now, now,” she responded. “THINK about it for a moment. Why do we exist?”

The golden-winged Cookie glanced down at her four allies, as though checking to make sure they wanted to put an end to this dark Cookie’s antics as much as she did.

“Tsk tsk,” the dark enchantress responded, shaking her head in disappointment. “You have never given it a thought, have you?”

“Of course we have!” Hollyberry Cookie was quick to jump in. “To live and be happy all together! That’s why we were brought into this world!”

“Happy?” Dark Enchantress Cookie responded in a mocking laugh. “And when do you feel happiest? When you fall down and crumble? Or when you become - dare I say it? - soggy?”

“We are together, in peace and in battle,” Dark Cacao Cookie followed up. “This is our strength!”

“So true!” Pure Vanilla Cookie agreed with his companion. “We love and thank our Creators for our deliciously sweet bodies and unique talents! And there is no hardship we cannot overcome! Together!”

“Fools!” Dark Enchantress Cookie responded. “I will show you the error of your ways here and now!”

The sorceress raised her staff, and the massive form of a Cake Monster rose from behind her. She then climbed onto the demon’s free hand and attacked the Five with orbs of black magic. All the while, the massive monster began to charge its own attack.

Pure Vanilla Cookie raised his staff, healing himself and his allies and shielding them from the laser the Cake Witch fired from its eye.

“Listen, we can win this battle…!” White Lily Cookie spoke up. The other four nodded and unleashed their powers upon the Cake Witch.

The dark sword sliced through bread and icing. The pink shield rammed into the demon Cake’s chest. A storm of golden arrows rained down on monster and master alike. White lilies bloomed under the creature to damage it. And although the beast fought back with its own dark powers, one Cookie always made sure to heal the wounds of himself and his allies. And with their combined powers, they weakened the Cake Witch.

“GAH! HOW DARE YOU?!” Dark Enchantress Cookie responded. “You will never stop me!”

The Cake Witch raised his staff, its tip becoming cloaked in dark fire.

“Dark Enchantress Cookie, NO!” Pure Vanilla Cookie exclaimed.

The Cake Witch brought down its staff upon the five heroes. The team of Cookies were left crippled, and five glistening gemstones lay on the ground at their sides. Dark magic enveloped the gems, and they floated up to the enchantress.

“Mwa ha ha ha!” she cackled. “Marvelous! Your Soul Jam is mine! I have waited too long for this moment. It is time to share my vision with the world!”

Pure Vanilla Cookie raised his head to look up at the sorceress and the five gemstones floating beside her. He couldn’t let her use their power for whatever evil plan she had. He had to stop her.

Raising his staff, he cast a protective shield around the other four while he ran towards their foe. A beam of white light fired from his staff; momentarily startled, Dark Enchantress Cookie retaliated with her own spell. The two attacks pushed against each other, while the other four could only look on. After a moment, the two mages became enveloped in a sphere of their own magic. As the two faced each other, one smirked and the other widened his eyes and let out a quiet gasp.

The five Soul Jams shattered as an explosion enveloped the castle.

‘In the wake of the massive explosion, the Five and Dark Enchantress Cookie vanished. The Cookies, having lost their greatest heroes, struggled to hold back the hordes of the Darkness. The vast civilizations of Cookies began to crumble. As time passed, even the whispers of once-grand heroes and their kingdoms died out, only to be spoken in the pages of history books…’

The dragon read the final page of the tiny book in her talons as she rested on the branch of a massive tree, her purple scales glittering in the sunlight of the late morning. She couldn’t help but shudder as she read this historian’s account of the climactic battle. As much as she hated to admit it, she and Dark Enchantress Cookie had something in common: They both knew the dark truth.

“I’m so sorry,” she whispered to five Cookies who may never hear her voice. She wiped a tear from her eye, and then took a moment to adjust her glasses. “I can’t change the truth.”

She looked to the side, peering into the window of a Witch’s cabin. The cabin’s resident was occupied with creating more Cookies.

“… But I can do something about it.”
