Work Text:

"Do you ever think aliens think that we're the aliens?" Chipp mumbles, exhaustion overcoming his voice easily.

Baiken, who holds him with a tenderness she swears she doesn't have for him, only tightens how her hands encircle his waist, snorting. "The hell're you on about?"

"I was just thinking," he continues, noticing that she holds him tight against her chest, her nose nustled into his hair affectionately, "that like, we must be so odd to them because we're always scared of going to other planets because they could have another life form, you know? But what if when they come here, they think that way too?"

A thick, calloused hand gives a light touch to Chipp's shoulder; he's curled into a tight ball against Answer's side, his head resting on his secretary (and more importantly, boyfriend's) strong chest. "I'm sure they're not real-"

"But they *could* say the same things about us, right?" Anji comments, laying on Answer's other side, facing the combination of limbs and love that make up Baiken and Chipp's current state. He's got his face tucked into Answer's neck, their firm legs intertwined. His hand finds purchase wrapped around Answer's waist.

"That's what I'm saying!" Chipp exclaims. Baiken whispers a 'shh' into his hair. "They probably don't believe we exist because they've never seen us and therefore would be pissing themselves if they saw us just like we would to them!"

"You encouraged him, not me," Baiken sighs, though her voice is laced with affection. "And since when was an invasion one of your presidential concerns?"

"Since we watched *First Encounters of the Third Kind* two nights ago and he couldn't watch half of the movie," Anji replies easily, "Had his whole head under the blanket too, it was adorable."

"Well, you both were the ones to come up with the fright night idea," Answer says with a smile. It's true, Chipp and Anji had resolved to watch a horror movie every Saturday evening. Answer does not like horror, so Baiken and him both retreat to the bedroom to watch the latest regency drama from London. She handles horror fine, but she hates to see him afraid.

One look in Anji's peaceful, amused eyes says all it needs to: he wanted Chipp to be scared enough to pull himself under his blanket and tuck himself against his side. He *wanted* to hold Chipp and reassure him it was false, but then keep watching the tape and get freaked out also, so they ended the night all up on each other, wrapped in each other's arms like death was on the horizon.

"I was, I was." Anji nods, clearly enjoying the recollection of the shorter man in his arms; they all love to hold and spoon him due to his low voice that calls them 'baby' and short, fiery disposition.

"I've just been thinking is all!" Chipp frowns. "We should give them a place to live with us, y'know? We can cohabitate."

"You know they're not on Earth, right?" Baiken scolds, her voice weak with love. "Might be pointless to plan."

"Crazier things have happened!" Chipp defends, snuggling further into her touch.

And as Anji lays a sweet kiss to Answer's Adam's apple, Baiken curls her legs up to spoon Chipp and they both melt into the blonde man's side.

Crazier things *have* happened.

Like the four of them all finding one another like this and starting something new.

Like the four of them together, a perfect jigsaw puzzle of love and tender sweetness.

Notes:
