Work Text:
His hands gripped the axe as tightly as they could. They started to bleed due to all the sharp bumps, but he couldn't care less. Any amount of physical pain couldn't ever amount to what he felt because of Airy. AIRY.
Such a pathetic man. He couldn't even defend himself. Why start a fire if you can't put it out?
He found it kind of amusing, really. Seeing him struggle to get away. The sweet taste of revenge came upon him as he swung the axe at his head, keeping it up even when Airy's glass was scattered everywhere already. He hit his body, his lantern top, his limp limbs, taking great pleasure in it.
It was only when he dropped the axe on top of his corpse that the bitter sensation of guilt came by. Why had he done this? This just- It didn't fix anything. It made everything worse, in fact. Now he had no one to talk to, no one who knew how the computer worked. No one that could save his friends.
Once he realized the weight of what he had done, he had already dropped to the floor, sobbing. They came out as weak, trembling gasps for air, and a couple of winces when he dug his nails into his cloth. He was even worse than Airy now. Atleast Airy didn't know what he was doing. Liam did. And yet he chose to murder his only company.
He couldn't do this anymore. He just... couldn't. It was all too much. He grabbed the axe again, wobbling his way towards the cave.
He cut the vines and stared at The Plane, plus the people on it. Soda Bottle. Scenty. Moldy. Everyone. He had failed them...
But maybe he could still save them from being trapped forever.
He swallowed thickly at the thought. He couldn't stoop much lower than he already had anyway, so...might as well try to end what he intended to.
"I'm...so sorry..."
He lifted the axe yet again, this time with a heavy heart, bringing it down and smashing the planet as quickly as he could to make sure no one would suffer too much. Tears pricked at his eyes when he saw blood splattered on the axe.
"...hh...h..- AUGHH!" Liam shouted in anger and frustration, grabbing the computer and slamming it against the cave's edges, his hands dyed crimson...both metaphorically and literally.
Now only he remained. He knew what to do.
"I'm coming, everyone...just wait a little while."
Liam dragged himself towards the pile of wood Airy had prepared, starting a spark and seeing it burn. For a moment, he hesitated, but he then forced himself to walk into the flames.
As he burned and his consciousness faded away, he could only feel one thing: Guilt. Guilt for his friends, for those who came before them, and even guilt for Airy. But it didn't last long.
Fabric is pretty flammable after all.
