Work Text:

“THE WHAT?!”

“Lower your voice,” Aizawa looked at Izuku as if he had just broken his eardrums. Izuku quickly apologized for his outburst.

To Aizawa's frustration, the class swarmed around Izuku, drowning out his voice. Guess he’d have to wait ‘til the commotion dies down.

“That is so freakin’ cool!” one student shouted, which Aizawa guessed as Kirishima.

Unfortunately for Aizawa, it wasn’t just the students’ voices that exploded— the tables and chairs quite literally exploded, too. The culprit, in this case, was obvious. “Bakugo! No use of quirk in the room!”

“But…” Izuku began once the noise finally quieted down (though Mineta and Kaminari were still bouncing around). “I don’t think I deserve this.”

From somewhere in the room, a loud voice cut in, “What the hell are you talking about? You don’t deserve this? Who told you that crap?”

Everyone, even Iida who wanted to reprimand Katsuki for swearing, seemed to agree with the sentiment. Even Aizawa agreed, though he wished he could have voiced it a bit more quietly.

“Kacchan, if anyone deserves this, it should be all of us—and even the pro-heroes! Why just me?”

Katsuki stormed over to Izuku, pissed off that the latter just couldn’t accept that he freakin’ deserved it. “Who the fuck took down that dumb bastard Shigaraki? Who ended the war? Who willingly gave up their quirk for the sake of the world, huh?!”

“I couldn’t have done it alone! Everyone sacrificed, too. You even—” died , Izuku wanted to say, but held back. “I didn’t win the war alone, Kacchan.”

“Deku,” Uraraka said, drawing his attention. “To you, the Symbol of Peace is All Might. To us, you’re our Symbol of Hope. Do you remember everything we told you when you left UA? It’s all true. You inspired us and gave us hope—we became the heroes that we are today because of you. It wasn’t just about you ending the war; it’s about you giving us the hope to keep going. Thanks to you, we’re all still able to smile today. You saved us, Deku.”

“That’s right! You’re our hero, Midoriya!” Kaminari chimed in. The whole class echoed, chanting, “Our hero!”

“Stop whining and just accept it,” Bakugo added gruffly. Izuku caught a glimpse of how Bakugo’s eyes softened before he turned away. “You deserve it, Izuku. More than anyone.”

Izuku’s tears began to fall— the ever crybaby of Class 1A— now 2A. The entire class rushed in, enveloping their crying hero in a group hug and even pulling Katsuki into the embrace. He grunted in annoyance (but don’t be fooled, he definitely wanted to hug Izuku).

Izuku stared at the paper given to him by Aizawa.

The Midoriya Izuku Law

This law is enacted in honor of MIDORIYA IZUKU, who had become a national symbol of heroism and hope after his pivotal role in winning the war against the League of Villains. The law officially recognizes him as the country’s hero and extends an unprecedented privilege: Izuku is hereby granted the right to purchase anything he desired, completely free of charge, throughout Japan, for the rest of his life.

The law mandated that Izuku's name and deeds be prominently included in all history books and educational curricula, ensuring that future generations would remember and learn about his extraordinary contributions. This gesture is more than just a token of gratitude; it is a formal acknowledgment of Midoriya Izuku’s sacrifices and the monumental impact he had on the nation. By enacting this law, the government aimed to honor his bravery and service, reflecting the deep appreciation and respect the country held for the young hero who had risked everything to ensure their safety and future.

Approved by the President of the Hero Public Safety Commission Takami Keigo, Hero Name: Hawks

Proposed by Bakugo Katsuki, Hero Name: Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight

“Wait, Kacchan, this was your idea?” Izuku asked.

“Huh?! The hell! ‘Course not!” Katsuki shouted, his face reddening—whether from anger or something else was unclear.

“But it says here, ‘proposed by Bakugo Katsuki,’ ” Izuku pointed out at the bottom of the document, and everyone gathered around to take a closer look.

“He’s right! Bakugo proposed this?!” Sero announced, which made Katsuki want to wring his neck if only he wasn’t too busy thinking of an excuse.

Katsuki did in fact propose the idea. The idea popped back when he was in the hospital and his mother was watching the news. The reporters mentioned and showed gratitude to Izuku— unfortunately, that wasn’t enough for Katsuki. The thought of Izuku not receiving the recognition he deserved kept him up at night.

“I didn’t, alright?! That stupid bird must be playing a prank on me!” Katsuki blustered.

“It’s true, Midoriya,” Tokoyami confirmed. “Bakugo asked me to pass the idea on to Hawks.”

“I said I didn’t fucking do that!”

“Oh~ Is Kacchan shy?” Kaminari teased with a grin. Aizawa quickly moved to restrain Katsuki, anticipating that the latter was about to unleash his quirk on Kaminari.

“I’ll fucking kill you! I didn’t do anything!”

Despite Katsuki’s denial, Izuku smiled warmly. “Thank you, Kacchan. You didn’t have to.”

Katsuki turned away, a noticeable blush coloring his scarred cheeks. “I said I didn’t do it.”

Softly, just enough for Izuku to hear, Katsuki added, “But you deserve it.”
