Work Text:

I watch Lee as his eyes move over the page quickly. I’m not entirely sure what it is he is working on, he just said he had to research something for Akhelios. I had told him I didn’t mind keeping him company, however that was 6 hours ago. At first, I entertained myself by looking through the numerous books lining the shelves in Lee’s room. Most I couldn’t read but some were from the surface, presumably gifts from Tiggy, and had offered a nice distraction. But, I could only concentrate on reading for so long, a problem it seemed Lee didn’t suffer from. Every time he put down the book he was reading I had gotten excited, only for him to pick up a new one. I was sure that if I asked him if we could do something else, he would be happy to oblige. However, I didn’t want to. He had been so nervous this morning telling me it was okay if I didn’t want to stay and that he didn’t want me to get bored. I had assured him that I didn’t mind and that just getting to spend time with him was enough. Of course, that was before I knew just how long he could spend on researching.
I’m not sure how long I have been staring at him, but however long it’s been he hasn’t looked up once. It’s actually a little impressive he hasn’t noticed, but it seems the book he is currently reading has his undivided attention. I look away from him while sighing just loud enough that he might notice, he doesn’t. I figure that if I’m stuck like this I might as well make myself comfortable. Moving closer to him I wrap my arms around him pulling him into my lap without saying a word. At first, he tenses looking up slightly from his book, but soon enough he relaxes leaning back into me and returning to the words on the page. I press my face into his back, breathing in his familiar scent.
We sit like that for a while, my arms still wrapped around his waist, until eventually, he makes a move to get up. Before he can I tighten my hold around him pulling him back. He chuckles at my antics, trying to move again.
“I’m just getting another book; I’ll be back in a minute.”
I don’t let go of him as I consider my options. I move to rest my chin on his shoulder deciding to tease him a bit to make up for the hours of boredom. Sure, I might have been the one assuring him I wouldn’t get bored as well as choosing to stay, but still I can’t help but blame him just a little bit.
My mouth is almost touching his ear as I quietly speak back to him.
“And you didn’t think to ask permission first?”
My words take him by surprise as he sits for a short while saying nothing, his cheeks gradually growing redder. Eventually managing to speak up.
“Oh… eh… s-sure, can I?”
“Can you what?”
“Can I get another book?”
His voice sounds unsure as he asks the question. I turn my head moving my face closer to his neck letting my lips ghost over his gills as I hum softly, pretending to think it over. I can feel as the light touch sends a shiver through his body.
“No”
I don’t give him a chance to respond as I turn and let my body fall onto the sofa, holding him tightly to bring him with me, simultaneously swinging my legs up onto the cushions so I can lay flat. He squeaks in surprise at the sudden change in position, but once we are both lying down, him on top of me, he relaxes. He giggles quietly, nuzzling into me as he lets the book drop to the floor.
“Okay okay, you win.”
I smile into his hair as I kiss the top of his head.
“Not much of a fight”
I say teasingly. The only response from Lee is a satisfied sigh, seemingly perfectly happy to have lost. I enjoy the coolness of his touch and he my warmth as I carefully run my hand over his body. He suddenly flinches as I touch his side. Quickly I pull my hand back lifting my head to look at him, worried I might have hurt him somehow.
“Lee, are you okay?”
“Ah yes, don’t worry I’m okay, I-it’s just… I’m a little um… ticklish.”
“Oh okay...”
I lay my head back down as I think over his words. As he once again relaxes, I can’t help myself from moving my hand to his side once more. This time the touch makes him squirm and as he does an idea forms in my mind. Swiftly I flip us over, so I am now above him. As I straddle him, I settle enough of my weight on his hips that he can’t easily move away from me. He looks up at me, eyes wide with surprise, it seems he’s about to say something but before he does, I lean down tickling him mercilessly. Whatever he was about to say gets lost in the laughter and squeals as he squirms trying to wiggle out from underneath me. Realizing that it isn’t working he switches instead to trying to shield himself with his arms. As he puts his hands out in front of him it makes it all too easy for me to grab his wrists with one hand holding them above his head while I continue the attack with the other. This only makes his laughing grow even higher in pitch.
Eventually, I figure he’s had enough and relent. As I let go of his wrists his hands move to cover his now flushed face. In between deep breaths, I can still hear some left-over giggling from behind his hands. He looks adorable like this, and I refrain from saying anything simply enjoying watching him like this. Eventually, he catches his breath enough to speak.
“You win… again.”
He chuckles. I smile at him taking his wrists again but this time I simply move them down slightly allowing me to watch his blushing face. It doesn’t take long before our eyes meet. As they do I can feel his excitement at being pinned beneath me. As the feeling flows through me it causes all kinds of ideas to appear in my mind.
