"Promise me you'll call!!" Emu whined, clinging to Rui as Rui laughed.
"I promise. I promise." Rui smiled, kissing his girlfriend on the forehead.
"And when I get back, I'm gonna make you the biggest house, and I won't show you the blueprints. So you can explore every nook and cranny." Rui promised. Hugging Emu tightly.
"Pinky promise?" Emu smiled, tilting her head. And Rui gently cupped her cheek.
"I pinky promise." Rui said, taking Emu's pinky finger and holding it before kissing her knuckles.
Rui sighed.
"I love you. So.. so.. so much." Rui pressed his forehead against his girlfriend's.
His high school sweetheart.
Rui's everything.
"Nah-uh! I love you more!" Emu retorted. Pressing kisses all over Rui's face.
"Alright, alright; you win." Rui chuckled, kissing Emu back.
Rui sighed.
"I have to go now my sweet girl. But.. stay my happy girl. okay?" Rui whispered. Looking into those pink eyes that he loved so much.
Emu nodded, Hugging Rui one last time.
Before Rui let go, grabbing his suitcase.
"oh, wait." Rui paused, taking off his green hooded hoodie, placing it around Emu's shoulders.
"Take care of it. okay?" Rui whispered, and just as he walked away. He felt Emu shove her ribbon hair clip in his hands.
"Bye bye!!" Emu waved, watching as Rui walked to security.
"Goodbye my dear.." Rui smiled.
It's been almost four years.
Soon Rui will be graduating. And he'll come back to Japan. Back to Toyko.
Right?
"He wouldn't forget about me. Right?" Emu would ask.
Right?
She means, he would talk to her all the time. Showing Emu his dorm. calling her when he was doing assignments.
But lately, he's been calling less and less.
Rui texts.
'Just busy doing work my love. So I can hurry up and get home to you.'
He would excuse himself.
But as Emu lit up her cigarette. She felt herself getting more doubtful.
Ignoring Rui's texts.
He's probably cheating. Probably just lying to Emu about work.
Afterall, they haven't seen each other in years.
Why would Rui keep his stupid promise?
