Summary:

Jake Paul has been found dead in Miami.

In the aftermath of his brother's death, Logan finds himself tasked with raising his seven-year-old niece, Annabelle. Overwhelmed and underprepared for the challenged ahead, he decides to throw his high-flying, bachelor life aside and tackle his greatest challenge to date: domesticity.

But child rearing and turning a house into a home requires more than one person can give. And when Logan rips out the wrong plant from his front yard, he finds out the world is a whole lot bigger than he ever expected...

Notes:

February 25 2024. My girlfriend and I have just flown back from seeing Taylor Swift in concert. We are running on a combined four hours of sleep and reeling from the whirlwind trip we'd just been on. We're given free champagne on the plane ride home, as it's also her birthday. I had joked about getting us tickets to see the Elimination Chamber, as it was being hosted in our city. Instead, we flopped down on the couch and turned on the TV to watch it instead.

My girlfriend, being the people watcher and fic fan that she is, begins narrating the battles. Delirious from a lack of sleep, she goes to town as we witness Logan Paul taunt Kevin Owens. At one point fireworks sound in the sky above us, gag over terrible plane champagne, and we stare at the TV and each other as we try to comprehend the insane 24 hours we have gone through.

I joke that I'm going to write down Logan Paul and Kevin Owen's great love story, publish it, and then gift it to her later in the year. She laughs and passes out in exhaustion. She forgets.

I do not.

July 12 2024. My girlfriend sits down at the same couch we had been sitting at some months earlier. I have given her a box. She tells me about her day as she opens it and begins to pull out various items. A can of Prime. A packet of spaghetti. A gift card to her favourite bakery. A tote bag, a snowglobe, a mug, a piece of paper with a QR code to a playlist. She remarks upon everything in confusion and wonder, but continues to tell me about work. She pulls out some art and she realises it's Logan and Kevin. Laughs, kisses my head as I have a godawful migraine, and continues to paw through the box.

And then she pulls out something she had never expected.

A book.

Yes, folks, I published a book about Logan Paul. Her best friends wrote reviews, some wonderful people made art for it. A very dear friend edited it and some other gorgeous souls continued to encourage me to write this and keep it a secret.

And now I'm sharing it with the wider world because my girlfriend wants me to.

There are lots of inside jokes with this, and much of this references things my girlfriend and I have discussed over the last few months while watching the WWE over breakfast on the weekend. But I hope you enjoy this, roll your eyes and wonder, just like she did, how I could keep this a secret for six months.

Enjoy!

Hi Jake,

I’m sorry I missed Melissa’s birthday. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be such a big thing. I thought you were joking when you said you wanted me there.

I hope you’re doing well. I’d really like to see you when you’re driving back up. I know New York is a bit out of the way, so I’m not expecting you to do a complete detour, but I can fly out at the end of July? Let me know. Or is school back then? I can never keep track, ha ha.

It would be really good to see you. I think we’ve got a lot to talk about. I know Mom is a lost cause but that doesn’t mean we can’t still hang out. Let me know what you think.

Best regards,

Logan
(your brother)
