Work Text:
“Are we sure putting four speedsters in a car is a good idea?” Eddie asked.
“It’ll be fun,” Barry said. “It’s a road trip, it’s all part of the experience.”
“Bart and Nora aren’t exactly the most patient kids, Bare.”
“We’ll have breaks where they can run around,” Barry said.
“Honey,” Iris said. “We can run if you want.”
“It’s four and a half hours,” Barry said. “It’s not that far. I don’t remember it feeling that long.”
“You’ve been before?” Eddie asked.
“With my parents,” Barry said. “We used to rent a cabin and go stay in the woods for a week. And then when Dad got out, he couldn’t stay in the city. Too many memories, too many people staring, so he went out there for a while. I drove out to see him when Zoom took my powers.”
“This is important to you, isn’t it?”
“I just...” Barry shrugged. “They’ll never get to know them. I wanted to share something from my parents with them.”
“Oh, Barry,” Iris said, leaning into him. “I’m sure we can keep Nora and Bart occupied for long enough.”
