Work Text:

BB🌹🦦: Are you almost home, Babe?

Babe🌷🐰: Yes, BB, I took a motorcycle taxi so I’m going to be home in a couple of minutes

BB🌹🦦: That’s good :) Did you have a good time with your friends?

Babe 🌷🐰: I did, it was nice seeing them again and celebrating my birthday too

BB🌹🦦: I’m glad you had a good time, babe, I’m sorry I couldn’t make it

Babe🌷🐰: It’s okay, Bec, I know you have that private event and we can’t always control when work comes in.

I bit my lip at that. I always made sure that I would be available to celebrate her day. From the 5 minutes I spent with her 2 years ago to the 10 minutes I spent last year, that traffic jam was NOT fun. I shook away the memories as I looked back at my phone. I needed to make this year special more so than ever.

BB🌹🦦: I’ll try my best to get to your place before the clock strikes midnight I promise. I still need to give you my gift.

Babe🌷🐰: Bec, you don’t need to do that you must be tired. You already greeted me last night, remember? It’s okay.

BB🌹🦦: it’s not the same… Birthdays are special and need to be celebrated properly.

I got pulled away from my phone as P’Ted approached me with the things I needed for the event.

“I think everything is ready, are you good to go?” He asked me as I stood up putting my phone back in my pocket. I grabbed everything from him.

”Thank you, P’Ted, I can take it from here” I replied as I went to where I needed to go and he left. I’ve always been nervous when working but this event made me more so than I have ever been, and all I could do was wait for my cue.

“Ah she stopped responding” I whispered to myself as I looked at my phone seeing that she hadn't seen my last message. I realized she was probably pulled away for the event. I did ask her what the event was for, but she said it had to be confidential that even I couldn’t know. I did sulk a bit, but I understood that some brands do require a certain anonymity. I secured my phone back in my bag and enjoyed the night breeze rushing past as the motorcycle swerved through traffic.

I thought about getting a motorcycle once, it seemed more convenient than sitting in Bangkok traffic for hours on end. Until I realized it might not be the safest and it would be tiring to use for work. Plus I wouldn’t be able to give Becky a ride as she seemed nervous about it.

I did feel sad I couldn’t see Becky today, but we had responsibilities we needed to fulfill. It wouldn’t be a good look for her to skip work just to celebrate with me. It still did irk me a bit that they had to schedule her today.

We finally turned to my street and stopped in front of my place. I thanked the driver and made sure the payment went through. After all that was settled, I walked towards my building. Mom and Auntie were at the cafe tonight doing some inventory so I would have the place to myself for a few hours.

“Maybe I should take a relaxing bath” I whispered to myself as I fished out my keys from my bag. I opened my door and entered my home taking off my outdoor shoes by the rack and flicked on the light. After I made sure the door was locked I turned and everything stopped, all I could hear was the sudden loudness of my heart beating in my chest.

“Wh—, Bec?!” I exclaimed as there in my living room filled with balloons, streamers and a “Happy Birthday, Freen!” banner pinned to the wall stood my nervous-looking girlfriend with a bouquet of my favorite flower; tulips, with a huge grin on her face.

“Happy Birthday, Babe.” She said softly. After the initial shock, I immediately dropped my bag, ran to her, and hugged her tight. She had to raise the bouquet so it wouldn’t get crushed.

”Babe, I need to breathe.” she said with a chuckle as I pulled away slightly still keeping her in my arms.

”How? I thought you had work? That private event?” I asked curiously, but in all honesty, I was over the moon that she was here. She just raised an eyebrow at me and looked at me mischievously, and it clicked.

”Did you have them put this on your schedule on purpose?” I asked even though I already knew the answer. She laughed which was always music to my ears, the one sound I would never tired of hearing.

”I wanted to make sure nothing would be scheduled for me at all so I asked P’Saint to put it in there. And since you had the day off too we decided it might help with the rumor mill that it looks like I had work.” She explained as she leaned in and gave me a quick kiss.

”Beeec~ you’re being sneaky again.” I said as I pouted finally letting her go. She handed me the flowers and placed a hand on my cheek.

”For you? I’ll be the sneakiest in the world” She replied and I swear my heart skipped a beat right then and there.

”Besides I didn’t lie. This is quite the private event” she said with a wink as she pulled me to the couch with a bunch of snacks and sweets.

”Let’s celebrate your day, watch a movie, eat snacks that are most definitely unhealthy, and I’ll give you my gift okay?” She said pulling her signature ‘puppy dog expression’ that she knew I could never resist no matter how hard I tried.

”Okay” I replied with a smile as I snuggled up against her feeling her warmth on this most special of days.

After the movies were seen, snacks were consumed, and birthday candle wishes were made with the soft singing of Happy Birthday. I suddenly felt Becky tense up as she looked at her watch.

”Everything okay?” I asked a bit concerned, she looked at me with a soft smile.

“It’s almost midnight, and I’m a bit nervous to give you your gift.” She replied and I tried to ease her concerns.

”Bec, You know there’s nothing you could give me that I wouldn’t love.” I said as she pulled away and stood in front of me. She took in a breath and exhaled slowly.

”Freen, the day I met you was the absolute best moment of my life. It scared me that I had almost gone back to England, that there was even a possibility of never meeting you.” She started as she grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it gently. I couldn’t help but smile at her admission.

”I’m glad I didn’t and every day since has made me so thankful to the universe that I had you beside me. Caring for me… protecting me… loving me. We grew with each other’s help and that made us stronger to deal with everything life can dish out at us. You’re my best friend, my confidante, my comfort zone.” Her eyes; filled with nothing but love, were looking directly at mine. I could feel tears forming in my eyes as I couldn’t help but be touched by her words.

”In every world, in every Universe, in any timeline… I would always choose you.” She continued and I let out a gasp as she got down on one knee reaching for something in her back pocket.

”I promised I would give you something you didn’t have yet so…” she said as she finally showed a small box in her hand. Anything outside this room may as well have not existed as I could only stare at her in shock as tears started falling from my eyes.

”Babe, Teerak, P’Freen, Sarocha Chankimha, every name I whisper only to you. Can I give you my last name? Will you Marry me?” She said as soft as the wind that carried it, as she opened the ring box. It was a simple yet elegantly designed ring. The band had a floral design that twisted a bit to the top with a decently sized diamond that you would definitely not scoff at but still was at a sensible size. This was most definitely uniquely designed by Becky.

I took in a breath I didn’t know I was holding. My mind was filled with so many thoughts and emotions that I couldn’t fully articulate, so I decided to go with the first thing I did think of. I knelt in front of her wrapping my arms around her neck, and I kissed her deeply with as much passion and love as I was feeling in that moment, as tears still streamed down my face. A few heartbeats passed and we both pulled away gasping for air.

”So… is that a yes?” She said nervously catching her breath but with a sly smile. I couldn’t help but smile back as I looked into her eyes.

”Yes, Bec, in every language, in every action, in every feeling. It will always be Yes.” I replied in a whisper to her. Her smile lit up the room as she took the ring out of the box, gently grabbed my hand and slid it on my finger. She looked at it with such awe and emotion as her own tears fell and she placed a gentle kiss on it then placed another one on my lips.

”Happy Birthday, Teerak” She whispered.

”I love you, Tua” I replied as I leaned forward our foreheads touching as we stared into each other's eyes.

”With all my heart” She finished as we both leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on each other’s lips.
