Chapter Text
December 26, 2018
Itadori is staring at a wall in all black awaiting his death sentence.
This is unusual for our protagonist, who is usually in some primary color; red, yellow and green. But not today, he is wearing all black. It reminds him of Megumi Fushiguro. His best friend, who is in a coma. All because of the petty century old demon that he is responsible to hold. What would you do if all of your friends and family died?
There is nothing to do.
He sits there for around three hours barely moving positions, only if he was losing circulation.
He would be wearing pajamas but Gojo's funeral required etiquette and he was too tired to get up and change into some color.
So now the only thing was his pink hair to light up his pale face.
The funeral was not what Itadori thought a funeral should look like but it was very “gojo”.
The urn, the frame of his photo and even the flowers looked expensive. All of his living friends and family were there. However, his clan was hidden by umbrellas, curtains, walls and masks. The gojo clan always screamed excellence but never really showed themselves. He had to wait two hours till his ‘friends’ were allowed to walk inside the grim shrine.
Very few of Gojo’s students survived the year so only ten people were able to come. Togo and Maki made their appearance with no tears in their eyes, only anger and soreness from the battle of Sukana. The rest were people Gojo knew but never really were friends with him. He wondered whether Gojo would have wanted this to be his end.
Knock Knock Knock
Oh it’s the news, huh
He opens the door with slight hesitation. To open to the sight of Maki, also still in funeral attire. She now looks like all emotion in the world was shoved into a jar but she can’t open it up. He feels bad for Maki, she loved Yuta; his death was simply useless to the battle and was avoidable. But no it happened so fast, that Maki only is now able to voice her opinion. But it’s as if all the emotion in the world is stuck down her throat.
“December 31st” she says flatly. “you have a week to get your shit together.”
“Less than a week?”
“Yes. And you spent one at another persons funeral.”
Itadori doesn't speak for a minute, then smiles, “Well, I better get a move on.”
Maki looks at him in confusion then giggles “Lord-” she pauses “anyways, you have some girl at the front gate waiting for you”
A girl? Itadori thinks. He has no friends that are still alive. Is it an enemy? Kenjaku again?
He walks towards the front gates, to only see, standing out in the snow, Ozawa?
“Hey! Itadori! It's been a minute, huh!” she says.
He runs up to her and gives her a hug, “How did you find me?”
“I remembered your school uniforms! I asked around!”
He looks around at the snow and is about to ask her to come inside but stops himself. He realizes that he cannot invite normies inside jujutsu high.
“Do you want to take a walk?”
“Sure”
On the cold swing sets Itadori tells stories to Ozawa, omitting the demons and the death of his classmates. “Your friends are really nice though, they tried to help me during the confession” she smiles with gentle laughter. He responds with a small yeah before it hits him to maybe ask advice from the girl.
“What would you do if you would die in 5 days?” Itadori asks while looking at Ozawa.
She looks shocked for a moment then thinks on it, moving the swing in and out while pondering. “I would travel the world, collect things, do the things that I want to be done, I guess”. Traveling was out of the question, hey, can I run around the world as I carry the deadliest demon in the world?
“What do you mean by collecting things?” Itadori asked. She paused for a second then continued “Like momentos of people I liked or things I liked”
That gives Itadori a thought that's fun and would keep him busy for a few days. However, He only has five days, this is a solo mission, his last mission.
“Hey, I got to go but can you promise me something?”
“Anything, Itadori”
He gets up and looks at her nervously, “Can never you think of me again? I know it may sound harsh but there’s a reason that for now I cannot tell you.” He says it so fast that Ozawa takes a second to think on the question being asked and looks up and pulls out her pinky.
“Okay, I trust you” she says as her eyes get teary
“Thank you, Ozawa” and he wraps his pinky around hers.
He only has a few days till execution
