“The sun begins to filter in when Jihoon finally slips away into unconsciousness. His body is lax against Soonyoung’s, accepting of the almost-possessive hold he has on him. If anything, this is the real picture of home.”
Soonyoung wakes up to sun in his face, realising he’s forgotten to close the blinds. He lays there for a moment, getting his body to remember it’s alive. He turns his head with a soft smile, eyes lovingly rolling over the sleeping figure next to him. Jihoon is curled up with the bunched up blankets clutched to his chest. Only his head of messy bed hair pokes out from the tangle of thick fabrics, making him look like the sweetest image of peace that tugs at Soonyoung’s heart. For a moment, he wonders how he even got into this position, but it all goes away when he realises he should probably wake Jihoon up alongside him and deal with the repercussions later. They can’t rot away in bed the whole day, he tells himself.
Psyching himself up for a lot of complaints, Soonyoung gently taps, pokes, and prods at Jihoon, softly calling his name to coax his consciousness out of its nest in his dreams. Finally, he stirs and a frown and pout already find themselves to his features, to which Soonyoung can’t help but giggle fondly at. “자기야 (jagi-ya), wake up. We should head out today.”
“…What the hell are you doing in my bed?” Jihoon groggily asks, body trembling after a particularly good stretch. Soonyoung chuckles, “I guess I was a bit too tired waiting for you all night; I think I basically crashed as soon as I came in here.” Jihoon makes no other response, mind still catching up.
He asks where Soonyoung wants to go, only barely listening as his eyes start closing again. “Hey!” Soonyoung sighs, the smile on his face seemingly stuck there permanently. He can’t help but feel this strange sense of joy and adoration at everything Jihoon does. This boy is just too special to him. “Jihoon-ah, stay with me! Don’t go! You need to stay alive just a bit longer!” Soonyoung shakes him as he does his silly bit, making Jihoon groan and whine.
“You know my bed wasn’t meant for two people right,” Jihoon mumbles out of the blue. Of course he knows. Whatever happened yesterday was part planned, part a sick little experiment. Soonyoung hums with a hint of pride and glee, “Yeah. I didn’t care, I was tired. You can’t fault a pretty boy like me~” If Jihoon had more energy, he’d eyeroll himself out of the room. But he settles on a “You’re unbearable.”
Soonyoung still manages to retort, “And yet you still slept with me- Ow!”
That effectively wakes Jihoon up, face already dusted pink so early in their day. “Y-You’re so!… Ugh- Such a rascal,” He mutters under his breath, making his way to the bathroom. “Just- go get ready, Soonie.”
And then there was one.
Soonyoung feels proud of himself; It’s probably a new record earliest time he’s managed to get Jihoon flustered. He should treat him to something sweet later as an apology. For now, he pads over to his own room to pick out his clothes before heading to freshen up and shower.
He’s grateful for this life, he thinks; He’s grateful for Jihoon, with how much of a willing participant he has always been in all of Soonyoung’s silly antics. He has to be fair though, Jihoon does manage to rile him up just as much, so he feels justified calling it an equal exchange. They’ve always toed this line between what’s between (best) friends and what’s leaning precariously over ‘relationship’ waters. Soonyoung just doesn’t know if he should be grateful or disappointed at this willingness. It’s just too easy for both of them to deny- well, in Soonyoung’s case at least- feelings or ulterior motives.
A sad feeling washes over him like the final droplets of water that run off his body, grabbing his towel to dry himself off as he changes in his room. Whatever the outcome of this whole thought train may be, Soonyoung has always sworn to take care of Jihoon no matter what. Even if one day this secret of his slips out, and Jihoon’s gaze on him reeks of disgust as they lose the familiarity of a childhood friend, Soonyoung will still find ways to look after and watch over the boy. He’s much too precious to let go of that easily.
Knocks rap at his bedroom door. Soonyoung calls the person in just as he’s finishing accessorising himself with some bits and bobs he’s collected over shopping trips with various friends. “What’s up?” He sees Jihoon’s eyes run up and down his figure, most likely taking in the fit as well as how good he looks- And Soonyoung knows how good he looks. The brief stutter in Jihoon’s words also give him away.
“O-Oh… I was just uhm- gonna ask if you were ready.”
Soonyoung feels pride surge at the too-obvious display of the other’s shock as he throws his arm around Jihoon, “Mhm! All set. I was thinking to treat you to something sweet- As a reward for sleeping with me, of cour- Ow, fuck!” They walk out of their hallway as Soonyoung nurses the arm Jihoon jokingly bit in protest and embarrassment. “Quit talking nonsense,” He says, quickly moving away from the cramped hallways to wear his shoes.
A hint of red tips his elfish ears, Soonyoung humming at the sight from behind. “Okay, two treats for you today, then. How does that sound, 자기야?” Jihoon finally huffs, pulling open their front door and staring at Soonyoung for a moment. Unexpectedly, he pokes out his tongue with a cheeky smile, “Sounds good to me.”
