Even for Marlene McKinnon

Summary:

Marlene should be partying but, instead, she is more worried about wanting to dance with her gorgeous girlfriend. When this one happens to be dancing with another beautiful blondie, our poor girl is not happy.

Notes:

This is actually the first thing I ever wrote and English is definitely not my first language, but, hey, I tried. This girls need more representation.

Work Text:

Some might say that there is nothing better than the party after the last Quidditch game before Christmas break, and, in most cases, that is absolutely true. That, actually, might be one of the best parties of the year, even better if Gryffindor happens to win, they definitely throw the best parties. Last Saturday night before holidays, not having to worry about the hungover being gone for when Monday arrives, the perfect way of saying goodbye to all the friends. It is just great.
Except for Marlene McKinnon in her sixth year, when, despite catching the snitch and taking her team to victory, she could only think of her extremely gorgeous girlfriend, who, of course, was a whole secret for everyone.

Marlene, of course, was acting as always, being loud, playful, dancing around and not caring a lot about her short skirt going up (she had put shorts on for a reason) or her top moving around (she knew her friends would tell her if it became a real problem). She was just her. Of course she exchanged short looks full of words with her girlfriend but, let’s face it, she just wanted to hold Dorcas tightly in her arms, the same way the rest of the couple did, while dancing to a slow song.
It definitely wasn’t easy to resist , either, taking into account how hot Dorcas looked in the short green dress she was wearing, which was perfect over her dark skin.
Still, for the first couple of hours the blonde witch did have kind of a good time. She danced with her friends and played quite a lot of drinking games. It was all fun and giggles until she saw Dorcas dancing with a blonde, really good looking Ravenclaw. They weren’t kidding, they weren’t doing anything they weren’t supposed to do, however, Marlene couldn’t take it, why could she dance with the Ravenclaw but not with her own girlfriend? Was the Slytherin really that ashamed of her?
To be fair, she really didn’t wanna know.

Marlene just got up from the floor, where James and Regulus where hooking up, using the obviously charmed bottle game as an excuse, and got out of the common room, some tears already rolling down her face before exiting the room. It was once she was out, supporting herself against a wall in the middle of the corridors, when she started to cry in a way she hadn’t done since her grandpa had died three years before, only that, the las time, she had had James, her childhood best friend holding her while she let everything out. Now, she only had herself.
Not many minutes later, she heard the door ,and, with it, she saw the girl of her dreams, her gorgeous girlfriend walking straight to her with a worried look on her face. Marlene quickly wiped away all the tears she could, bat, of course, Dorcas knew they had been there, she could see them in her eyes.

- Hey, hey, hey, what’s wrong? - Dorcas nearly whispered, as she always did when Marlene was sad or overwhelmed.

- Dorcas, do you really like me? - The blonde one kept whispering too, except her whispers had more to do with the fear she felt of the answer.

- What? Marles, of course I do, what’s wrong, love? Why would you ask that? - She grabbed her girlfriends waist with one hand and started stroking her hair with the other. Seeing that Marlene wasn’t answering, she just pressed the shorter girls body against herself, holding her in a tight hug. - I don’t know what happened, but I really need you to know that I like you a lot, the last month’s have been wonderfull and full of new experiences thanks to you, so, please, never doubt that I like you. - Dorcas heard her girl crying again, only this time, she was there to hold her, she was there to wipe her tears whenever she was ready to let her face be seen, and she was ready to hold her and not let go for a really long time.

- You were… - Now that she thought about it, while being held by Dorcas, it sounded stupid. She just took a deep breath and began talking again. - You were dancing with a girl, a blonde, beautiful girl… And, I mean, I know it sounds stupid, and of course you have every right to dance with whoever you want, but… sometimes, I wish I could dance with you in public the same way you were dancing with her, I wish I could scream and let everyone know who my gorgeous girlfriend is, because when you dance with her while I can’t do that, it breaks me, Dorcas, it really does. - The last couple of words, the Slytherin had to make a big effort in order to understand what was being said, because it was mostly the Gryffindor crying, still, she listened carefully and started giving her small kisses around her face.

- The blonde girl was Dora, Marls, you know her, she is my best friend, but it would never be anything more than than. - A small smile escaped her lips while saying that, something about her girl being jealous made her kind of happy, she didn’t want her going through a bad moment like that ever again though. - And, for the dancing part… I was gonna talk to you after the break, but, I wanted to tell you that I’m ready to make it public, I really am.

- Are you sure? I really don’t wanna push you, I understand your situation, I really do, I now I’ve had quite a bad reaction now but… - she couldn’t keep talking when Dorcas put her lips over hers, as a signal to stop talking.

- Marlene McKinnon, I’m sure, I wanted to talk to you about it even before today, i swear. - This time it was Marlene who pressed her lips against her girlfriend’s.

- I’m proud, you know? Really proud.

They ended up going back to the party, together, holding hands, as Marlene had dreamed for months. Thankfully, minutes after they arrived, a slow song started sounding, and, of course, they didn’t waste the opportunity of dancing together, in each other’s arms.

- Cass… - Marlene waited until she heard a sound coming from her girl before she continued talking. - I love you, so fucking much.

- I love you to, my girl, I love you too.

Maybe, in the end, it was a good party. Even for Marlene McKinnon.
