Work Text:
It was one of those days for Kaoru.
The client that he had an appointment with today had been one of those annoying geezers that never got satisfied with anything, and made had made him rework his art more than five times. He was pretty sure that the effort that he had put into maintaining his composure and and temper, far surpassed the amount of actual work he had done.
The clock hit 5 after what is seemed like years, and it was finally time for him to close his business and head home, for his much needed rest. Except that he hadn't.
With a sigh, Kaoru found him self changing his course towards sia la luse.
He might seem like he cant stand that ape of a man as he always put that but it was far from the truth. If one were to spend enough time around these two, it would be as clear as a summer sky, that they cannot function without one another. Although they are almost always found bickering and quarreling, those are the fragments of their soul that they are able to trust only each other with.
So it is almost no surprise to Kojiro when he finds the calligrapher once again in front of his door on a random evening. Though he's quiet sure he can never stop the way his heart swells with happiness every time that he is remined that the one Kaoru chose for his comfort was himself, and no other.
Sinking into the chair near the reception that Kojiro was standing near, Kaoru couldn't help himself from humming from the rest his limbs were getting. "Kojiro," he started looking up the green haired cook, "you will not believe the nerve of this guy from work."
Snickering at his overdramatic boyfriend Kojiro could only say "was it another one of those 'costumers'?" with a knowing look.
"YESS." Kaoru runs his palms down his face with an exasperated sigh "in any case I don't want to talk about that jerk on my off time."
"Whatever you say princess."
Kaoru could feel the heat rising to his cheeks at the name used to address him. although his reaction now is way toned down from when they had first gotten together, kaoru knew that he would never get used to it completely.
"Ahem," clearing his throat Kaoru tries to change the subject "do you have anymore of that wine we had last week?"
He looks at the way the muscular skater grins and moves towards one of the cabinets and pulls out a bottle of wine that he loves dearly even with his picky tastes.
Everything after that is merely a blur to Kaoru. Old stories and all the cute and funny stories that he remembers of his dopey gorilla resurface. The mental exhaustion that he had only a few moments ago was gone without trace.
Hours pass, the air filled with laugher and silly banter starts to subside as the night reaches its climax. It takes no genius to figure out that Kaoru has ran out of energy, with how his eyelids struggled to stay open. Seeing how hard he was fighting his exhaustion, Kojiro sighed to himself and walked around the counter towards the half asleep mop of pink hair.
"That's it, time for bed" Kojiro says gently lifting his boyfriend up.
He did get was a whine of protest, but it didn't take long for Kaoru to snuggle up to his chest like a tired pink cat.
Kojiro chuckles to himself, walking up the stairs to his apartment above the restaurant, as Kaoru's breathing evens out and he relaxes even more.
Tucking them both into bed, Kojiro finds himself cuddling Kaoru and muttering silent goodnights into his temple before drifting off into a good nights sleep himself.
