Work Text:
He let out a shuttering breath as he braced himself against the sink. A throbbing pain shot up from his hands as the heat caught up to him. His jaw tightened as he hastily flicked on the faucet, cupping his hands to cool his face down with the water. His claws thumped into the edges of the bowl as he reached down, making him growl slightly, painfully retracting them into his hands once more.
After he drenched himself almost half way down his chest with water his gaze trailed up to the mirror. A few gray hairs caught the light, seeming to glow and spread across his head. He huffed and turned around, ripping the towel from its hook and patting his face dry.
“Honey, I’m home!” a voice sung as the front door slammed open, causing him to wince at the thought of the growing dents in the wall. He stepped out from the bathroom to watch as Wade grabbed the edge of the door and slammed it shut again. A smile spread across his face as he locked eyes with Logan.
“Wow…” his face dropped to a soft look of awe almost, he maneuvered around the couch to make his way over to Logan. “You look—“ he brought his hands up to either side of Logan’s face.
“…like you’re gonna shit yourself, why the constipated look?” Immediately as the words left his mouth he was clipped on the back of the head, Logan rolling his eyes and falling back away from their almost embrase.
“You and that mouth,” he grumbled turning on his heels to head over to the kitchen.
“You love my mouth,” he didn’t even have to turn around the have the perfect picture of Wades shit eating grin plastered across his face. He huffed, choosing to let the comment die in the air as a headache became to sew its way into his head.
Logan rolled his shoulders as he pulled open the top cabinet in search of any sort of pill to dull his mind. Maybe even a drink. Maybe both. He reached back into the cabinet as the sound of the tv split through his skull. Logan pulled the bottle down, wasting no time to snap off the cap and pour around 3 into his hand. He clicked the bottle shut, placing it somewhere inside the mess of a cabinet.
He turned and leaned back on the counter as he brought the pills up to his lips, expecting to find Wade fully spread out on the couch watching whatever painfully loud show was on. Only as he turned he was met with another set of brown eyes, only they weren’t looking into his they were trained on his hair. He felt himself flinch at the sudden closeness.
“Fuck.” he grumbled looking off the side, quickly tilting his head back to down the pills that felt like they were almost melting in his hands. He slowly pulled his head back down to Wades eyes.
“Something stressing you out?” He spoke in a teasing tone, eyes flicking up to the growing amount of gray hairs.
“Yeah-“ he scrunched his face up as he started to feel the pills slide painfully down his throat dry, “‘m lookin at him” he pushed himself off the counter, Wade taking the opportunity to slink his arms right around his ribs.
“Who? Me?” He batted his eyelashes a few times, jutting out his bottom lip into a pout. Logan scrunched his face up in disgust at the act before shoving Wade away with a well played hand covering the face. He just laughed fondly while Logan pulled a bottle of water out from the fridge. He rested an arm on top of the open door as he downed around half the bottle, settling to just stare into the freezer door in the silence. Of course..Wade broke it moments later.
“…seriously though, you’re going to be more gray than black soon,” he whirled around to the other side of the door, leaning on it, tilting his head to Logan.
“Not that I don’t mind,” he added on. He slowly pulled his eyes from the fridge to look at Wade. They stayed like that for a bit, in comfortable silence.
“I’m almost 200 years old? It was only a matter of time till my hair turned gray,” he spoke in an obvious but still gruff tone as he pushed the fridge shut. Wade, dramatically, letting his arms go limp at the loss of his support. But a confused look painted his face.
“Old? Yo-We’re immoral.” he correct his statement halfway through as he took a step towards Logan, a grin playing on his lips as he thought he had caught something to tease him with.
“No.” Logan corrected him, “you’re immoral, my aging has just been slowed.” he took another swig of water, eyes still locked onto Wade. Watching as something flashed through his eyes, the corners of his mouth threatening to curl down.
“W—“ his voice shook but he swallowed, quickly composing himself, “what?” He let out a shuttering laugh, “so..so what does that mean you die?” He subconsciously stepped into Logan’s space. Logan brought the bottle away from his mouth, clearly not minding as he wiped his mouth.
“Yeah…eventually,” he was close enough to watch Wade suck in a breath and hold it, the tv softly muttering something as their once comfortable silence shifted to something almost heavy. The two stayed there, staring at one another till Wade finally pulled his eyes away.
“Ah—“ he licked his lips and backed away, making his way over to the couch, “got it.” his hand gripped the backing of the couch as he settled himself back down. Logan stared into the back of his head, there was an understanding of what the two of them were thinking. Neither of them wanted to speak about it though.
Logan ran his tongue over his teeth before he drank the last of his water, crushing the bottle and dropping it into the bin. He took quick strides over to the couch, standing behind Wade. He planted both hands on the back of the couch, right above his shoulders. He stared at the tv only for his eyes to trail down to Wade. He was chewing on his bottom lip, his eyes glazed over not paying attention to what was on the tv.
Logan understood how difficult it was to Wade to be venerable…there was something almost perfect about the two of them. Logan seemed to lose everyone he loved, but it was impossible to lose Wade. Wade never voiced how he felt in fear of losing what he loved, and Logan knew the feeling. He knew he loved him, he showed it in ways others may not notice. He could make witty, slightly inappropriate remarks towards Logan but he could pick apart what they really meant. For two people, so loud in their own ways, they needed little to understand one another.
He swallowed the forming lump in his throat, it was a gross feeling. When he began to think about him for too long, it was like he was hungry…or too full. He didn’t know, maybe it was the closest foreshadowing to death he would get. His skin becoming hot, the sudden pooling weight in his stomach, the gentle buzz across his body.
He was pulled from his thoughts by Wade tilting his head back to look at him. Though subtle, Logan could catch the slight furrow in his brow. He leaned down, softly pressing his lips on his forehead. Logan leaned back as he watched Wade slowly slide his eyes shut at the feeling. He took the opportunity to trail down from his forehead to his temple. Wade had turned his head as Logan moved to his jawbone, stopping close to his ear.
“‘m not going anywhere...’m right here” he spoke as gently, at least as gently as he was able to. He watched Wade swallow harshly, he pressed his lips together and immediately shot forward in an attempt to hide his face. Logan pulled himself away from him as he did. He watched as he gripped his hands together, resting his elbows on his legs. He stayed like that for a minute before sinking his head down into his hands.
Logan walked around the couch as he saw Wades shoulder begin the shake softly. He stood in front of him before kneeling down to get a better look at his face. He slid both of his hands up the sides of Wades thighs. He let out a broken laugh and lifted his eyes up to look at Logan.
“You’re right…it is one of God’s best jokes that I can’t die.” he smiled a bit, tears beginning to fill his eyes before spilling, dripping down his face. Logan cringed, clenching his jaw at the words. Before he can say anything Wade is quick to roughly wipe his eyes.
“No need for these type of water works, I can tell you there is only one thing I like to have wet,” he let out a laugh, it was broken, wet with the tears and broken. He averted his face to the side quickly, Logan growled and pulled his head back to look at him. He slid his other hand up to his hip, on his knees so they were eye to eye. He felt the same buzz run through his body as Wade placed his hand over Logan’s.
“I—“ he bit his bottom lip as he seemed to choke out the word. He went to start up again only to shy away, retreating back into himself. Logan leaned forward, pressing their lips together, the tightness in his throat seeming to melt. Wade let out a shaky breath through his nose as his other hand traveled up to the back of Logan’s neck. They stayed like that for a moment, no advanced to do more, no dumb quip, just the two of them. When they broke apart Wade slinked his other hand to Logan’s neck, pulling him on top of him as he twisted to lean back on the couch. Logan eagerly followed him, sliding his hand from the outside of Wades hip to the inside to push his legs apart to situate himself in between them. He snaked both arms around Wades chest while he did the same in return. Logan pushed his head into Wades neck as they laid there.
“I love you too.” he mumbled into Wades neck after a few moments. He felt his hold tighten, turning his head to kiss into Logan’s hair. A smile, a real smile, creeped back on his face.
“Thank you.”
