Work Text:

Their love story began in their youth, filled with the sweet innocence that only young love can bring. Lada and Earn spent their early days lost in each other, discovering a world of shared dreams and whispered secrets. Their lives orbited one another, constantly fueled by soft touches and sweet domesticity.  But life, as it often does, pulled them apart for two long years. Those years were marked by heartache, misunderstandings, and the scars left by hurtful words and foolish games.

Lada had struggled with the weight of Earn’s hurtful parting words, spiraling down until she hit rock bottom. Earn was her sun, the source of all her warmth and light. Loving Earn felt like living in an eternal summer, where every day was bright and full of life. Earn’s affection had felt like sunshine on her skin, melting away the worries of the world that often weighed on her. But when Earn left, it was as if the sun had set, plunging Lada into an endless winter. The days felt colder, the nights longer, and everything that had once felt alive within her seemed to wither. Without Earn, Lada’s world lost its color.

Earn, ever the free spirit, found herself lost without Lada to steady her. Lada was her moon, a constant, calming presence that guided her even in the darkest of times. Loving Lada was like living under a gentle night sky, where the moon’s light made everything feel safe and serene. Lada’s quiet strength was the anchor that kept Earn grounded, her cool touch a balm to Earn’s vibrant energy. When they were apart, Earn felt adrift, like a night sky without its moon—lost, restless, and incomplete. The stars were still there, but without Lada’s steady light, they seemed distant and cold.

But despite the obstacles, when they found their way back to each other, they were stronger—no longer the naive lovers they once were in their youth, but two women who had fought for their love and won.

It had been a few months since the ordeal with Lada’s mother had been resolved and with their anniversary coming up, Earn thought going away to Venice with her lover would be the perfect gift. Earn could hardly contain her excitement as she held up the envelope, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

“Guess what, Lada? I’ve got a surprise for you!” she exclaimed, practically bouncing on her toes. Lada looked up from her book, her serious expression softening as she saw the joy radiating from Earn. With a smile that made her eyes crinkle at the corners, Lada took the envelope, her fingers brushing against Earn’s. As she opened it and saw the tickets to Venice, her heart skipped a beat. She looked up at Earn, and in that moment, all the love she felt shone in her eyes, her usual calm demeanor giving way to a gaze so tender and filled with adoration that she looked like a lovesick puppy.

“You did this… for us?” Lada whispered, unable to suppress her surprise. Earn nodded, her grin widening.

“Of course, Doctor. I wanted to see that smile of yours.”

Earn’s grin grew even wider as she watched Lada’s reaction to the surprise. The way Lada was looking at her, with those soft, lovesick eyes, made her heart race. Lada, still holding the tickets, reached out and gently pulled Earn closer, her hand resting on the small of her back.

“Thank you,” Lada whispered, her voice barely audible as she gazed into Earn’s eyes, her heart overflowing with love.

Earn’s playful energy softened, and she leaned in, closing the distance between them. “Anything for you, Doctor,” she murmured before pressing her lips to Lada’s in a tender kiss. Lada’s arms wrapped around Earn, pulling her closer as the kiss deepened.

When they arrived in Venice, the city was even more enchanting than Earn had imagined. The canals wove through the city like silver ribbons, reflecting the vibrant life of the streets. Earn led the way, practically bouncing with excitement as they explored the narrow alleys and crossed ancient bridges.

As they arrived at the canal, where the gondola awaited them, Earn’s eyes lit up with excitement. She rushed forward, almost tripping on the cobblestones in her eagerness. Lada, always the steady one, chuckled softly and reached out to steady her, her hand firm yet gentle on Earn’s arm.

“Careful,” Lada said, her voice laced with affection. She stepped into the gondola first, her movements graceful and assured. Then, she turned back to Earn, holding out her hand with a warm smile.

Earn, still brimming with enthusiasm, took Lada’s hand, her fingers squeezing tightly. Lada helped her step into the gondola, guiding her with a steadiness that made Earn’s heart flutter. As soon as Earn was securely in the gondola, she leaned in, her voice soft and teasing. “Always there to catch me, aren’t you?”

Lada’s gaze softened as she looked into Earn’s eyes, her heart swelling with love. “Always,” she replied, her tone serious but filled with warmth. And before Earn could respond, Lada leaned in and captured her lips in a kiss.

“This is going to be amazing, Doctor!” Earn beamed, her energy lighting up the dimming evening.

Lada chuckled softly, her serious eyes softening as she looked at Earn. “It’s already perfect, because I’m with you.”

The gondola drifted along the canal, the world around them bathed in the warm hues of the setting sun. Lada, ever the observer, took in the details—the way the light danced on the water, the distant sound of music floating through the air, and the joyful expression on Earn’s face.

Earn couldn’t sit still, pointing out every little thing that caught her eye. “Look at that couple on the bridge, Lada! And those lanterns—aren’t they magical?”

Lada smiled, her heart full as she listened to Earn’s excited chatter. Moments like this—quiet, shared, and filled with love—meant everything to her.

As they passed under a low bridge, Lada pulled Earn closer, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. “Thank you for this, Earn. I know how much effort you put into planning it.”

Earn leaned into her, her voice softening as she looked up at Lada. “I just wanted to see you smile like this, Doctor. You deserve all the happiness in the world.”

The gondola ride continued, each moment more magical than the last. The city of Venice, with all its history and romance, faded into the background, leaving only Lada and Earn, wrapped in each other’s presence.

When the ride came to an end, and they stepped back onto the cobblestone street, Earn twirled around, her energy still boundless. “So, what’s next? More exploring? Gelato?”

Lada smiled, her gaze lingering on Earn as if she were the most precious thing in the world. She reached out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind Earn’s ear, her touch tender and full of love. “Whatever you want, my love. We have all the time in the world.”
